Praise be to Allah SWT who has allowed the author to complete this

paper. Shalawat and greetings may be poured out to the Prophet Muhammad

SAW.

Writing a paper with the title "Seminar" was prepared to fulfill the task

from Nur Fadillah, S.Pd., M.Pd at the Elementary School Seminar at Universitas

Negeri Padang.

The author realizes that this paper is far from perfect because of the

shallowness and limitations of the author's knowledge. The writer expects

criticism and suggestions from the readers for the perfection of this paper.

PRELIMINARY

A. Background
A seminar is a scientific meeting attended and attended by many
participants who are experts in their fields to find solutions to certain
scientific problems, the topic of discussion is usually related to problems in
everyday life so that in the end it will obtain an agreed formulation or
conclusion. together.
Seminars play an important role in higher education. With seminar
learning, students can present the problems they face in certain fields. So that
they can solve the problems they face through new ideas and thoughts in the
future.
B. Problem Formulation
Based on the background of the problem described above, we can draw
several formulations of the problem as follows:
1. What is the definition of a seminar?
2. What is the purpose of the seminar?
3. What is the function of the seminar?
4. What are the benefits of seminars?
C. Purpose of Writing
Based on the formulation of the problem above, the purpose of writing
this paper is as follows:
1. To know the definition of the seminar.
2. To know the purpose of the seminar.
3. To know the function of the seminar.
4. To find out the benefits of the seminar.

DISCUSSION

A. Definition of Seminar
Etymologically, the word seminar comes from the Latin "seminarum"
which means "land where to plant seeds". In this case, seminar means land or
land to treat various problems using various methods.
A seminar is a scientific meeting attended by many participants to
discuss various problems faced with various responses or discussions
between participants and presenters to get problem solutions or mutually
agreed on conclusions.
B. Purposes of Seminar
The following are some of the objectives of the seminar, namely:
1. Cultivate a scientific attitude in participants and presenters
2. Cultivate proficiency in speaking in a good and correct language.
3. Eliminate shyness and reluctance in expressing opinions or ideas in front
of many people.
4. Enriching the scientific insight of presenters and participants.
5. Practice the ability to discuss and argue between presenters and
participants.
6. Improve the ability for scientific analysis and reasoning.
7. Improve the ability to formulate and present problems, as well as to solve
these problems, both in writing and orally.
8. Improving the ability to think critically and positively and scientifically
accountable.
9. Improve scientific communication skills.
C. Functions of Seminar
The following are some of the functions of the seminar, namely:
1. As a place to add insight.
2. As a means of conveying a problem in front of the public.
3. As a medium of communication to share knowledge and exchange
opinions with the public.

 4. As a medium to convey opinions or ideas to solve a problem faced by
participants and presenters.
5. As a means to increase confidence and ability to communicate.
D. Benefits of Seminar
The following are some of the benefits of seminars:
1. To deepen knowledge and express opinions orally.
2. Increased ability in terms of analyzing a problem.
3. Increasing the ability to have a dialogue in public.
4. Practice how to communicate with other people.
5. Expanding the association.

CLOSING

A. Conclusion
A seminar is a scientific meeting attended by many participants to
discuss various problems faced with various responses or discussions
between participants and presenters to get problem solutions or mutually
agreed on conclusions.
In college, seminars are very useful for students. Because the seminar
has a lot of benefits, functions, and goals that can be felt by students. One of
the benefits and objectives of the seminar is to increase knowledge and be
able to investigate and solve the problems encountered. Therefore, seminars
serve as a medium for deepening knowledge and as a medium for exchanging
ideas/opinions with others to obtain solutions to the problems encountered.
