MATERI ADJECTIVE

KELAS BI. 2-1

 First meeting

Definition adjective

Adjective is a word used describe nouns.

For example:

- Bad (jelek)
- Beautiful (cantik)
- Busy (sibuk)
- Clever (pintar)
- Diligent (rajin)
- Easy ( mudiah)
- High (tinggi)
- Small (kecil)
- Big (besar)
- Rich (kaya)

According to nouns function, adjective are usually placed in front of nouns.

For example:

- They are clever students (mereka adalah murid yang pintar)


- He is busy worker (dia adalah pekerja yang sibuk)

Use of adjective

all the adjectives in example sentences above describe the noun that is in front
of them. Adjective can be used on nouns in singular or plural forms. Adjective in the
singular and plural do not change. The only thing that changes is to be and the noun,
which is adjusted to the singular or plural form.

For example:

- She is a clever student (dia adalah murid yang pintar) Singular/tunggal


- Rosmini and Agung are clever students (Rosmini dan Agung adalah murid
yang pintar) plural/jamak
- I am busy (saya sibuk) singular/tunggal
- We are busy ( kami sibuk) plural/jamak

(And the last is playing game)

Adjective berakhiran -ed dan –ing

Adjective berakhiran -ed

Adjective -ed is express how someone feels about something

For example:

- She is interested in music (dia tertarik dengan musik)


- I don’t know why, today I am so bored
- He is incredibly excited to get the scholarship (dia sangat bersemangat untuk
mendapat beasiswa itu)

Adjective berakhiran –ing

Adjective –ing describe something that is felt by someone

For example:

- Staying at home on weekend can be so boring(diam di rumah saat akhir pekan


bisa sangat membosankan)
- We have never been here. The scenery is so captivating (kita belum pernah
kesini, pemandangannya begitu menawan)
- What he did is so disgusting (apa yang dia lakukan itu sangat memuakan)
