Speech for parents: Draft

To the dearest parents who are watching our Virtual Graduation as I speak, let us
take a while to go back to the time wherein your child has just taken their first day of
school. On that morning, mom excitedly packed her child’s lunch, arranged their
school supplies in their bag, and gently combed their hair as she gives them plenty of
kisses, wishing them good luck on their first day. Once the child has already come
prepared, they then see Dad waiting outside to drop off their little kid at school. Now
the little child finally arrived on time, felt a bit hesitant at first, but eventually went
with other children going to the same classroom as theirs. This event sighs relief to
both parents as they realize that they had accomplished their mission, but then
again, they have to do a similar task every single day for the rest of their life.

Now, this is just the beginning of the challenge that parents have to face. They have
to work harder since the older their sons and daughters become, the more expenses
they'll have to pay. Let's also not forget how these parents have to deal with
parenthood and adulthood simultaneously. The world gets more complicated, and
their children are growing fast, probably becoming more mature as well. Their once
little child has grown into a teenager, reaching the adolescent stage, attending high
school, and is now a young adult who is now completely aware of his/her society.
You see your child growing up, and you were always with them throughout this
whole journey. Even when the pandemic struck, the parents became stronger.
Because the hardships felt by their children in the middle of the pandemic is
undeniable. Parents saw them struggle in an online class, let alone those who have
taken a modular class. Parents had to be strong for their children because they're the
only ones their children can hold up to in this time of age. No wonder they have
refrained as superheroes. And they deserved it.

So much for the reminiscence, let us now go back to the present. And I am very
delighted to announce that all of your hard work and unending support to your child
has finally pulled off. Your child is finally moving up and will be facing a more
challenging environment in the future. If there is someone to be fully accredited
behind the success of these students, it is no other than you; beloved parents.
According to Khalil Gibran in his poem 'On Children':
"You(parents) are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth."
We students are only able to go this far because of you. Let this event be for you, our
beloved mom, dad, and guardians. Our deepest gratitude is engraved in our medals
and diplomas that are worth giving to you. We love you to the bottom of our hearts,
and we are forever grateful to have you as our parents.
