Seminole County System-Wide Distance Learning Guide


Due to staffing shortages, related to COVID, Seminole County Schools will transition to a system-wide distance
learning model at the end of the school day on Monday, August 23, 2021. Tuesday, August 24th will be a transition
day and students will not attend school or have instruction. This day will be used for teachers to prepare and
transition instructional plans for learning to resume on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Students will be in distance
learning from Wednesday, August 25, 2021 - Friday, September 3, 2021. Face-to-face instruction will resume on
Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

NOTE: At this time, extracurricular activities will continue as planned as long as staffing can be maintained.

● All PK-12 students will be supplied with a SCS Chromebook.


● Students must join assigned Google Classrooms with classroom codes.
● Synchronous, instructional meetings will take place weekly through Google Meets. Attendance will be taken.
● PK teachers will record daily lessons and post on Google Classroom.
● All K-12th teachers will submit a daily agenda with a detailed outline of student assignments and tasks within
their Google Classroom platform before 8:00 AM each morning.
● All PK-5 teachers will be available on Google Meet from 1:00 - 2:00 PM for virtual office hours, to
instructional support students.
● All 6th-12th teachers will be available daily through email for students needing additional instructional
support.

Grading
The Seminole County School System will take numeric grades during the systemwide distance learning model.

Attendance
Teachers will conduct daily attendance checks through Google Classroom. Students are expected to participate in
live, synchronous Google Meet Sessions. Students who do not meet these attendance requirements, will be
counted absent, per the Georgia Department of Education and Governor’s Office of Student Achievement
guidelines for distance learning.

Food Services
School Nutrition will provide opportunities for grab-and-go meals. Weekly meals can be picked up at
Seminole County Elementary School cafeteria at 10:00 AM on the following dates:

Food allergies can be accommodated, please notify Seminole County School System’s Nutrition Director, Mrs.
Ivey McLendon at imclendon@seminole.k12.ga.us for nutritional accommodations.
INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS
Google Classroom
All students will be provided with a Google Classroom code from each
teacher, including all core content areas, electives, and other program
services, such as Gifted and Talented, ESOL, etc. Students will need to
use this code to join their classes. Teachers will upload daily assignments
before 8:00 AM each morning.

Seminole County School System Principals will have access to all Google Classroom account codes for
their school. Please contact the school if you need your specific course code.
