Clamping band RM

Clamping band RM is specially designed for use with V-rings RM and RME. However it can also be
used on profile E using Buckles.

Advantages

• Clamping band RM makes it easier to mount the V-ring because it allows a lower stretch of the
V-ring
• The Clamping band RM fixes the V-ring in position both axially and radially.
• The band will cope with very high speed. It has been proven up to a peripheral speed of 30 m/s.
• It is completely made of acid proof steel SIS 2343 so it can be used in most environments. Only
exception is on RM Adjust, where there are two different rivet alternatives. The Normal Rivets
are made of acid proof steel SIS 2343 but the Blind Rivets (Pop rivets) are made of stainless
steel SIS 2333.
• The Clamping band RM can be reused several times.
• For V-rings type E, RM & RME in combination with clamping band, a special size range can be
used. Drawing No. DK-31650 specifies these special V-rings starting on size V-1500. These V-
rings has a lower stretch and will therefore be easier to fit.

Standard clamping band types

The Clamping band RM is made in three standard lengths:

Clamping band B+S Part no. Length

RM 10 XZYDF00002 1000 mm
RM 15 XZYDF00001 1500 mm
RM Adjust XZYDF00003 500 - 1500 mm
Buckles (profile E) XZYDF00004

RM 10 and RM 15 are of fixed length while RM Adjust is adjustable between 500 and 1500 mm;
this because of that they have to cover the whole range of shaft diameters.
The RM Adjust is perforated for a length of 1000 mm. The perforating consists of groups of 3
holes. Groups equally spaced 50 mm.
RM Adjust can be assembled with either Blind Rivets or Normal Rivets.
The package with RM Adjust includes both kinds of rivets plus instruction.

Cutting, joining and assembling Clamping band RM

1. Refer to the table on page 4 to obtain the correct combination and length of Clamping
Band. The complete set will normally comprise one or several standard lengths plus an
adjustable one, RM Adjust. The correct combination is shown in the table for each range
of shaft diameters. Check the shaft diameter, because it seldom corresponds with the V-
ring dimension in an existing application. If the band RM Adjust is not required, go directly
to step 5.

2.

2. Measure and cut the band

RM Adjust as stated in the
table and as illustrated.

3.

3. Place the free end of the band

on the end connectors as
illustrated by aligning the rivet
holes.

4. Use the riveting pliers and the pop-rivets or the normal rivets and a hammer to rivet the
pieces together.

5. Fit the V-ring on the shaft and align to the correct fitted width B1.

6. Grease the top of the V-ring body with a thin film of grease so that the Clamping band will
slide when being tightened.

7.

7. Wrap the Clamping band

around the shaft and join the
band together by using the
connector(s). The connector(s)
to be fitted as illustrated in
relation to the direction of
rotation as depicted by the
arrow. If several bands are
required, tighten them a little at
a time to achieve uniform
clamping.

(*) Note: On profile E must buckles be mounted: 1 buckle for each 200 mm. The buckles
have to be ordered separately.
When using Clamping band RM on profile E, add 26 mm to shaft diameter before using the
table on page 4.
