According to a story, he gave a poor girl some money before he died, and so other Christians called him the saint of love. On February 14 Americans give special symbolic : gifts and send greeting cards called Valentines to people they love. Modern Valentine's Day symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the ; winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten Valentines have given way to mass-produced | greeting cards. February 29 - Tradition says that on this extra day in every four years girls can ask boys to go ‘to the movies or out to dinner and even to marry them.
