Green Material and features of Cebu – Mactan airport

Sustainable sites:

1. project has implemented an erosion and sedimentation control (ESC) plan that conforms to the
2003 EPA Construction General Permit (CGP)
2. Bicycle storage facilities have been provided to serve 5.03% of the LEED project FTE and
transient occupants, measured at peak occupancy, and shower facilities have been provided for
0.57% of the LEED project FTE occupant
3. Preferred parking spaces for car/vanpool vehicles have been provided for 5.08% of the total
parking capacity.
4. Rainwater harvesting is implemented for the project site where all the rain water, runoff volume
is captured and infiltrated in the soaking pond.
5. Airport building roof surface has a Solar Reflectance Index of 37 by use of material ISCOM Silver
9007 PVDF 3L

Water efficiency:
1. Project has reduced potable water use by 47%

Low Flow fixtures:

Water closet 0.98 Gallon per flush
Urinal 0.98 Gallon per flush
Faucet 0.2 Gallon per minute
Shower 1.5 Gallon per minute

Energy efficiency:
1. The project has achieved an energy cost savings of 26.3%. The total predicted annual energy
consumption for the project is 10,734,991 kWh/year of electricity. Following are the list of major
energy saving features:
a. Use of efficient building envelope
b. Use of sky light, reducing load on artificial lights
c. Low lighting power densities
d. Precision Air Handling Units (PAU) for office & retail spaces
e. Efficient chiller type is used, use of semi hermetic chillers
f. VFD at pumps and motors
2. HCFC and CFC-Free refrigerants serving the project building

Material and Resources:

1. Project has diverted 96.21% of the on-site generated construction waste from landfill.
2. 24.85% of the total building materials content, by value, has been manufactured using recycled
materials
3. 26% of the total building materials value includes materials and products that have been
manufactured and extracted within 500 miles of the project site
4. 6.32% of the materials are from rapidly renewable sources
5. 80% of the total wood-based building materials are certified in accordance with the principles
and criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), major contributor here being the timber
roof structure.

Indoor environment quality:

1. The Project is using all low VOC paints sealants coating material
2. All the Carpet are also certified as per green building standards
3. The airport is having over 70% of the area naturally daylight hence enhancing the comfort and
productivity
4. The project space is thermally comfortable for periodic thermal comfort survey are conducted
to ensure occupant’s comfort
