How important are standardized tests?

Standardized testing has long been used for evaluating students with how well they are performing.
While the word "exam" refers to the most traumatic and scary nightmare for some individuals, it is
undeniable that standardized exams have significant roles in education. Specifically, these tests are
objective measures of student achievement, tools that help students focus on essential fundamental
skills that all students need to master, and motivation for them to work harder.

From schools' perspectives, it is consequential for enrollment in a school to have an objective measure
by which to evaluate applicants, especially scholarship applications. This is where people need
standardized tests as they help place students in the appropriate place of learning by removing bias
from the equation. There cannot be ''test score fraud'' or favorable results because most standardized
exams are not something that relies on teachers, but rather are products of private companies.
Furthermore, these tests are mostly composed of multiple-choice questions and scored by machines,
which makes them so thorough that many universities, corporations, and other institutions depend on
them to have the best possible insight with the most comprehensive level. For more manifest
visualization, some standardized tests like IELTS, SAT, or TOEFL are required by many universities around
the world or for admission to scholarships. The results can assess the ability of the test takers and to
figure out if they are qualified or not.

The second impact is that students are given essential fundamental skills they need to master through
the process of drilling standardized tests. According to a study in 2005, teachers in four Minnesota
school districts agreed that standardized testing had a positive effect, enhancing curriculum quality and
also increasing student success. Moreover, preparing for the standardized tests requires much time and
effort, which helps students to realize their strengths and weaknesses in foundational skills. Hence, they
can make good their shortcomings and improve their strong points. One clearest sign is that more and
more students are taking the IELTS exams nowadays. For instance, Vietnam is always on the list of 20
countries with the largest number of IELTS exam takers with approximately 10,000 IELTS exam takers
every year. And those who have taken the IELTS courses have rapidly improved four English elementary
skills, especially speaking skills than the ones who do not. As a result, this standardized test has done a
magnificent job in helping the students in those essential primary skills.

Finally, yet importantly, not only showing students how they are doing, but standardized testing can also
serve as encouragement. Learners, especially young learners, often set too safe targets of learning,
which sometimes prevents them from being better. However, when standardized tests can identify
specific weaknesses, they will be motivated to work harder and set higher learning goals. Some people
may argue that this goal is discouraging, but if students enclitic this motivation by proper etiquette, it
will have them get out of their safe zone and help them believe that they are capable of learning much
more than they thought. When they already achieve that confidence boost, this can create lasting
positive impacts on their future roughs.

In drawing things to a close, standardized tests play a crucial role in education. These tests are objective
measures of undergraduate accomplishment, instruments that assist students on fundamental skills that
all of them ought to ace, and inspiration for them to work harder. Standardized tests are now showing
their positions as more and more universities around the world use them, and in an ideal circumstance,
one day every student would be supplied standardized tests as a method to learn the foundational skills.
The end.
