Tests are conducted to check what we have learnt.

Tests are conducted to teach us time

management, art of writing; short and precise, discipline and many other things.
A test refers to a tool, technique or a method that is intended to measure student’s knowledge
or their ability to complete a particular task.

Why we use test?

A test is used to examine someone's knowledge of something to determine what that person
knows or has learned. It measures the level of skill or knowledge that has been reached.
To identify what students have learned
The obvious point of classroom tests is to see what the students have learned after the
completion of a lesson or unit. When the classroom tests are tied to effectively written lesson
objectives, the teacher can analyse the results to see where the majority of the students are
having problems with in their class. These tests are also important when discussing student
progress at parent teacher meetings
To find out student’s strength and weakness
use of tests is to determine student strengths and weaknesses. One effective example of this
is when teachers use pre-tests at the beginning of units in order to find out what students
already know and where the teacher's focus needs to be. Further, learning style and multiple
intelligence tests help teachers learn how to best meet the needs of their students through
instructional techniques.
To judge the success or failure of the teacher’s own teaching methods and
strategy
Tests also provide feedback on the effectiveness of the teacher’s methods and lesson
materials. If most students perform well - it means that the teacher’s methods are effective. If
students perform poorly, it means that the teacher needs to change/improve their methods,
curriculum, lesson materials, and classroom projects. If a lot of students get the same
questions wrong, it indicates that the teacher needs to go back and re-teach that information
before moving to the next unit.
To motivate the pupils to learn (in order to get more marks)
Tests can help to motivate students to study and keep them accountable because they know a
test is coming and they have to be prepared or suffer the consequences. If students knew that
they would not be evaluated, many of them would not study.
Tests promote competition, the kind of society in which we live, tests and results have
become a reflection of our success or failure. We cram and mug up so much just to get ' first
position' in our class/ school.
No student will take studies serious at all if no tests are conducted
Tests force students to read, cram and write.
To improve the quality of teaching
Tests are a tool teachers use to evaluate student progress, as well as a method to gauge
deficits in learning given concepts. If an entire group of students miss questions related to an
area, the teacher knows the presentation of the unlearned material was not effective, and can
re-teach the material using a fresh approach. Concepts the majority of students can accurately
apply can be deemed successfully processed, and the teacher can build on learned material to
deepen cognition, and application.
To select promotions to the next class, or to award certificates
The tests are conducted to determine the eligibility or strength of the candidates based on
various aspects.
It tells the facts about the candidates whether he/she is eligible for the next procedure.
It also helps an organization to find out best among the many to select for the particular task.
Tests can be used as a way to determine who will receive awards.
tests are necessary because we will not promote to next level remember knowledge, practical
things are different and getting degree and results and paper of qualification is different.

If we have lot of experience and knowledge but we don't have any qualification degree or
results we can not grow.

To change student’s study habits

Many students are studying because exams. Through tests, students can know their
knowledge. It evaluates student’s skills. It helps in developing student’s personality and
confidence. It also helps to improve the memory power of a student. It allows the students to
convey their understandings. It not only helps to polish the writing skills, but also helps
students to improve their analytic skills.
To set definite goal before both teacher and student.
