CHAPTER IV

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

This chapter deals with the presentation of results and discussion of the data gathered
based on the research problem and hypotheses posited for this study. The presentation of data
is in order, arranged according to the statements of the problem.

Problem 1. What is the impact of Covid-19 pandemic to online sellers in terms of expenses,
business and income?

Table 1
Impact of covid-19 pandemic to online sellers in terms of expenses

Questions Mean Verbal description

A. Expenses
1. Have enough stocks of food. 2.6571 Moderate impact

2. Money preparedness for other expenses. 2.6857 Moderate impact

3. Have received help from the government. 1.9429 Impact

Total mean 2.4286 Impact

Legends:

3.5- 4.2=High impact

2.7- 3.4=Moderate impact
1.9- 2.6 =Impact
1.0- 1.8 =No impact

Table 1 shows that the impact of covid-19 pandemic to online sellers in terms of
expenses supported by 3 statements , 1 statement has a highest mean of 2.6857 which is;
Indicator 2, “. Money preparedness for other expenses” which is verbally interpreted as
moderate impact. Indicator 3, “Have received help from the government” has the lowest
mean of 1.9429 and verbally interpreted as impact.
This implies that covid-19 pandemic has less effect to online sellers in terms of
expenses; Have enough stocks of food, money preparedness for other expenses, and have
received help from the government.

According to Daniel Liberto (2021), an expense is the cost of operations that a

company incurs to generate a revenue. One of the main goals of business man is to maximize
profits. This is achieved by boosting revenues while keeping expenses in check. Slashing
costs can help business men to make even more money from sales.

However, if expenses are cut too much it could also have a detrimental effect.

Table 2

Impact of covid-19 pandemic to online sellers in terms of business

Questions Mean Verbal description

B. Business
1. Allowed to go out and buy stocks. 2.8000 Moderate impact
2. Availability of products to sell 2.6000 Impact
3. Decrease of customers. 2.4286 Impact
Total mean 2.6095 Moderate impact

Legends:

3.5- 4.2=High impact

2.7- 3.4=Moderate impact
1.9- 2.6 =Impact
1.0- 1.8 =No impact

Table 2 shows that the impact of covid-19 pandemic to online sellers in terms of
business which is supported by 3 statements. 1 statement has the highest mean of 2.8000
which is indicator 1, “Allowed to go out and buy stocks” and interpreted as moderate impact.
1 statement which is the indicator 3 “Decrease of customers” has a lowest mean of 2.4286
and interpreted as impact.
This implies that the covid-19 pandemic has an average effect to online sellers in
terms of business: Allowed to go out and buy stocks, availability of products to sell, and
decrease of customers.

Table3
Impact of covid-19 pandemic to online sellers in terms of income

Questions Mean Verbal description

C. Income
1.Increase of revenue 2.7143 Moderate impact
2. Product became higher in price. 2.8571 Moderate impact
3. Revenue decreased because of pandemic. 2.5429 Impact
Total mean 2.6094 Moderate impact

Legends:

3.5- 4.2=High impact

2.7- 3.4=Moderate impact
1.9- 2.6 =Impact
1.0- 1.8 =No impact

Table 3 shows the impact of covid-19 pandemic to online sellers in terms of income
supported by 3 statements. 1 statement which is indicator 2, “Product became higher in
price” has a highest mean of 2.8571 which is interpreted as moderate impact. Indicator 3,
“Revenue decreased because of pandemic” has the lowest mean of 2.5429 and interpreted
as impact.

This implies that the covid-19 pandemic has an average effect to online sellers in
terms of income: Increase of revenue, product became higher in price, and revenue decreased
because of pandemic.

Chris Boggs (2017) stated that no business exists for pride of ownership or to give
the owner something to do. Businesses exist for one reason only: to make money. Any
business that generates insufficient or no income insurance is the most important property
coverage.

The optimal goal is to properly insure the building, its contents and the business
income. But out of the three coverage, the most important is business income. Even if the
building or contents are horribly underinsured, a business could still reopen and succeed in
the aftermath of catastrophe if it has sufficient business income.

Table 4
Summary Table

Impact of covid-19 pandemic to online sellers Mean Verbal description

Expenses 2.4286 Impact
Business 2.6095 Moderate impact
Income 2.6094 Moderate impact
Overall mean 2.5491 Impact

Legends:

3.5- 4.2=High impact

2.7- 3.4=Moderate impact
1.9- 2.6 =Impact
1.0- 1.8 =No impact

Table 4 shows the summary of the impact of covid-19 pandemic to online sellers in
terms of expenses, business and income which has an overall mean of 2.5491 and interpreted
as impact. Indicator 1 “Expenses” has a mean of 2.4286 interpreted as impact, indicator 2
“Business” has a mean of 2.6095 interpreted as moderate impact and lastly, indicator 3 “
Income” with a mean of 2.6094 and interpreted as moderate impact.

This implies that the covid-19 pandemic has a less impact to online sellers in terms of
expenses, business and income.
Problem 2. Is there a significant difference in the impact of the covid-19 pandemic when the
respondents are grouped according to type of online business?

Table 5 shows that One-Way ANOVA on the significant difference in the impact of
covid-19 pandemic when the respondents are grouped according to type of online business.
The table shows that Expenses F- value = 1.6887 with the p- value of .2623 indicate that
there is no significant difference exists. Therefore the assumed null hypothesis is accepted.
This implies that there is no significant difference in the impact of covid-19 pandemic when
the respondents are grouped according to type of online business in terms of expenses.

The table shows that Business F- value = 0.984 with the P- value of .534 indicates
that there is no significant difference exists. Therefore the assumed null hypothesis is
accepted. This implies that there is no significant difference in the impact of covid-19
pandemic when the respondents are grouped according to type of online business in terms of
business.

Lastly, the table shows that Income F- value= .9843 with a P-value of .4583 indicates
that there is no significant difference exists. Therefore the assumed null hypothesis is
accepted. This implies that there is no significant difference in the impact of covid-19
pandemic when the respondents are grouped according to type of online business in terms of
income.

In general, this table implies that there is no significant difference in the impact of
covid-19 pandemic to online sellers in terms of expenses, business and income when the
respondents are grouped according to type of online business.
