Research area
➢ Preparation of silica particles
Preparation of porous silica particles, ground particles of silica monoliths, ranging from (5 µm-2 µm)
with proper pore volume, pore size and surface area.
➢ Synthesis of various stationary phases
➢ Synthesis of various stationary phases for the separation of various analytes such as small organic
molecules (benzene and its derivatives), peptides and proteins.
➢ Preparation of C8, C18, and Polystyrene bound phases for RP-HPLC
➢ Preparation of a novel mixed-mode stationary phase (C18-1-[3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl] urea) for the
separation of peptides and proteins.
➢ RAFT polymerization
Preparation of polystyrene bound phases: immobilization of polystyrene thin layer over silica particles
to prepare polystyrene bound phases which show properties like core-shell particles and show very high
efficiency for the separation of small organic molecules.

1
➢ Packing HPLC columns by slurry packing method
Packing of narrow bore micro-columns by sophisticated slurry packing method (various ID 0.5 mm,
1.0 mm and 2.6 mm ID) using our laboratory made stationary phases. We have designed the best
packing hardware for packing narrow-bore stainless steel columns.
➢ Preparation of open tubular capillary columns (OT-CEC)
Open tubular capillary (OT-CEC) columns for the separation of peptides, proteins and tryptic digest of
cytochrome C. I have successfully prepared long OT-CEC columns (1.2 m) and got very high
efficiency, record high in the world (1.5 million/meter) for synthetic peptides and proteins.
➢ LC-MS analysis of peptides and proteins
➢ Organic synthesis
