Based on the interview conducted were found that there are some factors that make she is afraid
and not confident when she is talking in the public, first is she is afraid that her voice is not loud
and everyone can’t hear her voice, second one is she is shy to speak in public because she is
afraid to make some mistakes in grammar or vocabulary. According to Gardner and Maclntyre
(1993:2) language anxiety that happens in speaking may be outlined because the worry or
apprehension occurring once a learner is anticipated to perform within the second or foreign
language. based on the theory we can also know that the factors that make someone afraid and not
confident to speak in public is that someone haven’t yet mastery the language.

According to the interviewee, sometimes, she is afraid when she doesn’t get the point of the
material, suddenly the teacher asks her to answer and the teacher doesn’t give the feedback of her
opinion about the answer. It’s exactly similar with Kondo and Young (2004) in Maulidiyah
(2014:24) she states that foreign language anxiety might have a negative impact on learners’
performance. As stated by the interviewee, if the class is English learning sometimes, she can’t
understand well the material and worried how if the teacher asks her suddenly.
Besides, according to the interviewee, she said that learning English should be fun. It’s not only
about the material, but also the participants in learning process. When the participants are enjoyed
and happy, learning process in English will more relax. Similarly, according to the theory by
Crookall & Oxford (1991) in Fujii (2016:10) it is necessary for each teacher and students to
contemplate themselves as a partnership and think about themselves as making attempt along to
beat the matter a hysteria, so neither would see the other as a supply or problem, and each might
work along to cop with the common problem.

Based on the theory stated on previous meeting about the nature of anxiety, it’s said that
anxiety feeling can arise when someone will speak in public because of their habits,
anxious feelings can be seen with signs such as trembling, pallor, producing excessive
sweating and nervousness when speaking. The result of the interview is in line with that
theory because the interviewee answer about the factors that makes her anxiety in public
speaking.
