Subject: Mathematics Unit Topic: Travel Graphs

Teacher: Mr. Samuel Ack School: Julian Cho Technical High School
Class: 4th Formers Duration: Mar 31 – Apr 18, 2008 (3 wks)

Introduction:
Students will learn that if a body travels a certain distance in a given time, then its average speed is equal to the total distance
travelled divided by the total time taken. In addition it will enhance students’ abilities for the CXC exams.

Rationale:
At the end of the unit plan, students will be able to find average speed, graph the distance over time, graph variable speed and
calculate acceleration and graph constant and variable acceleration. Students should be able to extrapolate from the graph.

Unit Goals:
1. To calculate average speed.
2. To graph distance against time.
3. To graph function and find average speed
4. To calculate acceleration.
5. To graph constant acceleration.
6. To graph variable acceleration.
