WHAT IS ONE TRILLION TREE INITIATIVE?
In January 2020, Ex President Trump announced the United States would join World
Economic Forum's One Trillion Trees Initiative, an ambitious global effort to grow and
conserve one trillion trees worldwide by 2030.
The initiative calls for forest restoration and conservation to protect local ecosystems
and to provide the carbon capture necessary to mitigate climate change.

WHO LAUNCHED THE ONE TRILLION TREES INITIATIVE?

One Trillion Trees Initiative: The World Economic Forum has launched 'One Trillion
Trees Initiative' to grow, restore and conserve 1 trillion trees across the world by 2030.
The global initiative is aimed at restoring biodiversity and help fight climate change..
IS IT POSSIBLE TO PLANT 1 TRILLION TREES?
“But very little of the world is available for planting a trillion trees. Most of the land
that might be suitable is in use for farms and cities. Most of the places that can
support forests, like the Amazon, Congo, Indonesia and Southeast Asia, already
have forests.”

HOW MANY TREES ARE IN THE WORLD 2020?

Crowther found that there are approximately 3.04 trillion trees exist on the planet
today–a mind-boggling number, especially compared with previous estimates that had
not yet guessed the Earth had even a half-trillion trees.
HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE TO PLANT 1 TRILLION TREES?

This came shortly after a team of scientists identified suitable places in the world
where up to 1 trillion new trees could be planted. Such a massive effort could absorb
about 20 years' worth of global greenhouse gas emissions.

HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST TO PLANT A TRILLION TREES?

In terms of cost, Crowther said that "the most effective projects" do restoration
at about ¢30 per tree, meaning that restoring a trillion trees would be about
$300 billion—which, he added, makes tree restoration "by far the cheapest
solution that has ever been proposed."
