Philippines takes part in COVID-19 global vaccination: 44,000 doses and counting!
On March 2 COVID-19 immunization program officially started, so far administering
44,000 doses and still increasing.
Globally, 300 million vaccination figure is recorded with seven million people receiving
vaccines per day. The country kicked-off vaccination program after arrival of 600,000 doses of
CoronaVac by Sinovac BioTech China. Philippine General Hospital director, Dr. Gerardo Legaspi
received the first shot of the said vaccine. According to Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., vaccination
in-charge, after hospital directors received shots, the public’s level of confidence increased.
400,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVISHIELD manufactured by Serum Institute of India
also arrived last week. Senior citizen health workers are first to receive their dose of this
vaccine on March 9 as they are not allowed to take the SinoVac vaccine.
Earlier, Malacañang revealed additional 29,000 individuals received COVID-19
vaccination.
