PESTLE –

ENVIRONMENTAL
FACTOR
Resource Constraints
■ As population grows, more people
share the use of available
resources. The rapid growth of
urban population leads to
congestion and drives up the
price of real estate over time.
Environmental
Regulations
■ Department of Environment and Natural Resources
(DENR) – is the government agency tasked to look
after the natural resources of the Philippines.
■ Most programs carried out by local government
units (LGUs) are in support of existing natural
environmental regulations:
– Republic Act no.8749 or the Clean Air Act
– Republic Act no.9275 or the Clean Water Act
– Republic Act no.9729 or the Climate Change
Act
– Republic Act no.9512 or the Environmental
Awareness and Education Act
Climate Change
■ Climate change is one of the most
pressing environmental issues at this
time, not only in the Philippines but
across the world.
– Melting glaciers
– Typhoons
Greenhouse Effect
■ The earth’s ability to absorb and
bounce back heat into space.
■ Greenhouse gases trap heat and
radiation in the atmosphere instead of
releasing it back into space, causing
an increase in the atmosphere’s
temperature.
Renewable Energy
■ Is energy derived from the sun (solar),
wind (wind), flowing water (hydro), and
other naturally renewable sources.
■ Comes from nature and is an
environmentally friendly means to
create energy.
