TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR CLADDING AND FLOOR-TILING

GRANITE-PORCELAIN, MARBLE AND STONE

Shahalcrete 472 is used for cementing stone, marble and granite-porcelain tiles on indoor floors
and walls by adding cement and sand,on plaster, concrete and existing floor-tiling surfaces.

Preparation of the cementing compound

1. Clean thoroughly the back of the stone and the surface to be clad of dust, grease
and other dirt by scrubbing with brush and water.

2. Prepare primer for application on the back of the tile:

Mix one part cement with two parts sand and add Shahalcrete 472 (without water) until
getting a workable cementing compound – apply on the back of the tile a 2-mm layer and
make sure that the entire back surface is covered.

3. Preparation of the mortar for thin cementing:

Mix one part cement with two parts sand and add Shahalcrete 472 (without water) until
getting a workable cementing compound, apply the cementing compound by a grooved
spatula on the surface and attach the tile to the compound while the cementing compound
on the tile is still wet pressing and rotating it to remove air.
Apply small areas every time to avoid drying of the cementing compound.
Stepping on the cemented surface is allowed after 24 hours in the summer and at least 48
hours in the winter.

4. In case you want to cement thick tiles of granite porcelain or natural marble
or on sand or stabilized sand you may work as follows:
a. Prepare a primer as per paragraph 2.
b. Prepare cementing mortar as follows: mix one part cement with two parts
sand or ready mortar, add Shahalcrete 472 at a rate of one tenth of the
cement, water as may be required, attach the tile with wet primer applied
to its back on the said cementing mortar.
Stepping on the cemented surface is allowed after 48 hours.

5. We recommend leaving 4-6 mm gaps between floor tiles and wall cladding tiles.

The user is responsible for the compatibility of the material to his application. In any case we
recommend testing the material and checking its suitability before carrying out large scale
application.
