Strategy and Goals

Am I delivering what the business needs and not what it asks for?

Am I delivering the strategy? Am I solving performance problems?

You need two things:

A thorough understanding of your A close working relationship with the
organisation's purpose, strategy and goals business so you know what is happening ‘on

You use these two things to create a ‘golden thread’ through all the actions and activities you do.
Regularly ask yourself (and your team) these two key questions:

‘What day to day performance problem is

address?’ If the answer is unclear or
convoluted, challenge yourself ‘why am I
doing this?’ If the answer is clear, move
on to question two...
‘What organisational goal or strategy is the
2 work I am doing right now contributing
towards?’ If the line is unclear or convoluted
challenge yourself ‘why am I doing this’. If the
answer is clear, continue.

This relationship between the strategy and goals, day to day business performance AND your actions and
activity are the guide, the golden thread that tells you that you are on the right path.
