1.1 introduction to Winflows 4.03

The Winflows software is an intuitive and user-friendly simulation program that allows users to
quickly design simple or complex reverse osmosis and nanofiltration (NF/RO) systems. The software
provides exposure to SUEZ’s spiral wound RO/NF membranes along with extensive cartridge filters
products, pre-engineered NF and RO systems, and electrodeionization (EDI) options.

• Updated pre-engineered NF/RO machine selection (arrays and fact sheets)

• Hardness, Ionic strength and Density were added to each stream
• H-series elements are now available
• High Performance (AG-400 H and AG-440 H)
• Fouling Resistance (AG-400 FR H)
• High Performance, Low Energy (AG-400 LE H, AG-440 LE H)
• Low Energy (AK-400 H and AK-440 H)
• AG8040F-400 LE is now available
• Updated water and salt permeability for HL NF

1.2 introduction to Winflows 4.02

The Winflows software is an intuitive and user-friendly simulation program that allows users to
quickly design simple or complex reverse osmosis and nanofiltration (NF/RO) systems. The software
provides exposure to SUEZ’s spiral wound RO/NF membranes along with extensive cartridge filters
products, pre-engineered NF and RO systems, and electrodeionization (EDI) options.

Winflows version 4.0 Features Include:

• High pressure elements up to 1500 psig are now available
 Ind RO Series (up to 1200 psig)
 Ind RO HP Series (up to 1500 psig)
• Winflows now includes complete E-cell projection software with stand-alone EDI design
functionality
 Updated Complex flowsheet design for RO+EDI configurations
 Includes the New E-Cell MK-7 Stacks
 Updated Temperature and pH range for all Stacks
• Enhanced Winflows Reporting
• Option to Import/export Argo file to Winflows for comparison
• Updated water permeability of NF and SWRO elements
• Updated water permeability of Duraslick RO elements
• Booster pump and permeate backpressure valve now available in Winflows flowsheet

The user is assumed to possess basic knowledge of RO and NF system design principles and know the
required performance of the system under consideration. This tool is user friendly, highly reliable,
robust and intuitive in designing of RO and NF systems as compared to other competitive tools.

2.1 what you need to install Winflows

Your computer must have one of the following supported operating systems:
• Windows 98 • Windows XP Service Pack 2
• Windows 98 Second Edition • Windows Vista
• Windows ME • Windows 7
• Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 • Windows 8
• Windows Server 2003 • Windows 10

Your computer must have the required software:

• Windows Installer 3.0 (except for Windows 98/ME which will require Windows Installer 2.0 or
later)
• IE 5.01 or later: Your computer must also be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later for all
installations for the .NET Framework.

Disk Space Requirements:

• 280 MB or 610MB (for .NET Framework runtime)

Required disk space to download the Winflows program

• 100 MB

Display Resolution:
• Winflows works best in a screen resolution higher than 1024 x 768

3.1 installation of Winflows application
If you currently have an older version of Winflows ensure the application is closed. Next, download the
setup package from https://www.suezwatertechnologies.com/resources/winflows. The package is in a
compressed zip file. Extract the zip file to a folder on the target machine (e.g. C:\WinflowsSetup\). The
following files well be extracted:

• Winflows 4.0 msi

• Read Me First Winflows 4.0 txt

• Winflow.Net.msi

• dotnetfx [Note: this folder will only be there if you download the setup with .NET framework 4.5
runtime]

First time users may need Administrative rights as .NET Framework runtime will be installed on the
machine by the setup.

Please follow the step-by-step guide below to successfully install the Winflows program to your
computer.

Step 1: Run Winflows 4.0.mis file by double clicking on it. A wizard will appear on the screen.

Step 2: If your system does not have .NET Framework installed on your machine the setup will
automatically do so. You may need Administrative rights or the help of a system
administrator in order to install Winflows.

 Step3: License agreement for Winflows users need to accept and select “I Agree” option and press
next which shows below screen

Step 4: The wizard will now prompt you for the location where you wish to install Winflows on
your machine. The default location is C:\GE Winflows 4.01\.

Step 5: If you wish to change the installation location click on the browse button and select the
desired folder. Otherwise click the Next button and the setup will proceed to install
Winflows.

 Step 6: Confirm installation to continue press next button on the wizard.

Step 7: Once setup is done press the close button on the wizard.

Step 8: A shortcut to Winflows is placed on the Start menu of your computer and on your
desktop.

 Step 9: In order to avoid misplacement of flow sheet in Winflows and reporting files, the
recommended scale is 150% and not higher.

4.0 uninstall Winflows

Winflows can be uninstalled from your machine at any time by executing the following:

Step 1: Click on the Start Menu

Step 2: Select Control Panel

Step 3: Select Add or Remove Programs

Step 4: Select Winflows from the list of programs and then click on Uninstall

 You can also uninstall Winflows by doing below steps

Step 1: Click on the Start Menu

Step 2: All Programs
Step 3: Winflows 4.0 folder
Step 4: Click Uninstaller to uninstall Winflows from system
