SUMMARY
While generally teams may not consider safety as important a position as others, I feel that the modern athlete has turned the position into one of huge potential
impact, and this is best seen in players like Ed Reed and Bob Sanders, both who have been named defensive player of the year. Kenny Phillips, to me, has a
chance to make a huge impact on the field as well, especially when you consider his aggressiveness and effectiveness against both the run and the pass. He has
good speed but more importantly the explosiveness to close the gap on receivers in all types of coverage, and come up at the LOS to support the run. He no doubt
impressed NFL personnel at the Combine with his football knowledge, and clearly demonstrates that he has the work ethic to be a consistent impact player.
