GUIDELINES AND AGREEMENT

I. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

SWU PHINMA Within Reach Scholarship program is offered to serious and driven Grade
12 students who want to pursue college through quality education and a learning
environment that will enable them to succeed and become leaders.

II. NATURE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP.

1. The program is open to all Filipino Grade 12 students (incoming freshmen).

2. The chosen course/program during the freshmen year shall determine the life of the
educational assistance. Eight (8) semesters for 4-Year program and Twelve (12)
semesters for 6-Year program.

3. The program may be taken continuously or not. In the event that SCHOLAR is unable
to continue owing to valid circumstance, he/she is given 1 Year or 2 Semesters grace
period to re-enrol, with approval from Student Life Office.

4. This grant cannot be used with any other SWU PHINMA scholarships and discounts.

5. Interested student should take up any program/course offered by the university


EXCEPT for the following.
a. Law
b. Medicine
c. Graduate Studies

III. OBLIGATION OF THE SCHOLAR

1. The SCHOLAR must enroll the regular semester load of not less than 15 units or as
prescribed in the curriculum of the program taken.

2. The SCHOLAR may only transfer to another course only if approved by the Student
Life Office.

3. The SCHOLAR is required to render 5 Service Hours a Week or 90 Hours per


Semester, the area of deployment will be determined by the Student Life Office.
However, due to the current COVID19 pandemic, the SCHOLAR cannot render service
hours. In the event that health protocols will be eased out and the school will be allowed
to be fully operational, the SCHOLAR shall resume to render service hours as
stipulated herein.

4. Failure to render the required service hours at the end of the semester will be
REPRIMANDED; if the scholar fails to redeem himself/herself at the end of the
academic year, his/her scholarship will be terminated.

5. Should the scholarship program is terminated as stated in the preceding paragraph, the
SCHOLAR may continue with his/her chosen program at his / her own expense,
without any obligation on the part of the UNIVERSITY.
6. The SCHOLAR must maintain proper ethical conduct within and outside the school
campus. Any report of misdemeanor or violations of SWU PHINMA rules and
regulations and the students’ code of conduct will be grounds for termination of the
scholarship.

7. An honorable dismissal will not be issued in cases of breach of contract; and the scholar
repays the university all costs incurred.

8. The SCHOLAR must complete all requirements prescribed in the respective program
pursued.

IV. OBLIGATIONS OF THE UNIVERSITY.

1. The UNIVERSITY shall provide the SCHOLAR 55% discount on Tuition Fees only
per semester. Miscellaneous Fees, Laboratory Fees and other fees as may be assessed
by the UNIVERSITY shall be for the sole account of the SCHOLAR.

2. The UNIVERSITY shall grant the SCHOLAR to enroll in summer classes IF required
by the curriculum.

3. The UNIVERSITY will require the SCHOLAR to pay downpayment of Php 1,500.00
only.

V. TERMINATION OF CONTRACT.

1. Upon graduation, a SCHOLAR automatically ends his/her contract.

2. The SCHOLAR is allowed to withdraw from this scholarship, subject to the following
conditions:

a. Should the SCHOLAR opt to resign in the middle of the semester he or she is
liable to pay the total cost of the grant incurred during the term.

Once a SCHOLAR separates himself / herself from the university, he/she may
be reinstated into the scholarship program provided that he/she submits a
written letter of reapplication to Student Life Office and approved
by the Student Services Manager or the Vice President for Student Life.

b. Should the SCHOLAR resign at the end of the semester he/she will not be liable
to pay the total cost of the grant and may continue with his/her chosen program
provided he/she pays the expenses, without any obligation on the part of the
UNIVERSITY.

3. The UNIVERSITY may likewise Pre-Terminate this scholarship, under the following
circumstances:

a. When the SCHOLAR fails to render the required service hours every semester,
as stated in Section III (3) hereof.

b. Violation or breach by the SCHOLAR of the terms and conditions set forth in
this Agreement, or any other violation as defined in the student handbook that
would warrant the exclusion or expulsion of the SCHOLAR.
SWU HAWAK KAMAY & WITHIN REACH SCHOLARSHIP SPECIALAGREEMENT

HAWAK KAMAY & WITHIN REACH SCHOLAR who applied for the Tertiary
Education Subsidy (TES) will still render the mandatory service of Five (5) hours per week or 90
hours per semester while waiting for the final list of TES grantees.

Provided that the SCHOLAR will not be part of the TES grantees he/she will continue to
be a HAWAK KAMAY & WITHIN REACH SCHOLAR.

HAWAK KAMAY SCHOLAR & WITHIN REACH SCHOLAR who will be part of the
TES grantees will become a Regular Paying Student and will no longer be required to render
service hours.

Former HAWAK KAMAY & WITHIN REACH SCHOLAR who will not be part of the
TES list of grantees for the next academic year will be allowed for re-admission in the program.
He or she must visit the Student Life Department for validation.
