The Face
when I was little I used to sit in front of the mirror and practice raising one of
my eyebrows for long stretches of time

which was super fun because I was really expressive and I loved moving my
face

and it was really helpful when I was in theater for a lot of years

but it was also bad because then that meant I was not good at hiding my
feelings

I used to be a camp counselor, and at this camp there was a theater camp.

And so we all had to take our campers to see their performance of “Fiddler on
the Roof”

Those kids were passionate!

singing with such a volume but also so tone deaf

so it was kind of painful to watch

at one point my co-counselor looked over at me and she was, like, “you have
to stop making that face”

and I was, like, “what?” and

I realized that I had been making this face the whole time

and I was in, like, the third row of the theater,

so, they probably saw me

but, hopefully, they just thought that I was super into the drama

of the show
