1. Fifty people visiting a museum were asked how many times they had visited the museum
in the previous year. The results are shown in the table below.

(a) Find the median number of visits per person.
(b) Calculate the mean number of visits per person.

2. On an aircraft travelling between two cities, ½ of the passengers are children, 1� of the
passengers are women and the remainder of the passengers are men.
(a) Using the circle, draw a pie chart illustrating this
information. State clearly the size ofeach angle at
the centre of the circle.
There are 240 passengers on the flight. •
( b) Calculate the number of passengers on the flight
who are men.

3. The mean of the six numbers 7, 9, 13, 17, 23 and xis 18.5. Calculate the value of x.

4. The absences in one week for a school are


represented on the pie chart. Given that 35 pupils Tuesday
were absent on Wednesday, calculate
(a) the total number of absences for the week,
(b) the number of absences on Tuesday.

5. The mean age of 6 girls is 15 years. The mean age of 12 boys is 14 years. Calculate,
giving your answer in years and months, the mean age of the 18 children.
