BACKUP PLAN FOR SOHAR STEEL

The Backup of all Servers and other critical areas are not in a proper reliable state, critical areas are taken
back up manually as of now with the help of some manual scripts, a proper backup reconstruction is highly required
to ensure the data security and availably in case of any data loss,hardware,software failures.

The problems, requirements and solutions are as follows;

Problems with Existing System (Manual Backup)

1. Critical data backups are taken by server scripts (.bat), these methods backup does not have backup
success/failure alert configurations

2. Clients cannot work while the server image backup in progress

2. Whole Server OS Image backup from VM ware does not have an incremental backup solution

(Incremental backup feature is required for taking the runtime file backup)

Current backup system does not backup the recent saved files from critical areas like erp, tams and so on

3.Exixting backup methods cannot automate schedule whole server configuration image files

4. In case of any hardware failure to the servers, the restoration process with all recent data's cannot be done as we
don't have a backup solution, critical data loss can be incurred.

5. Restoration process (If hardware failures) can consume 2-4 days, and on these downtime clients cannot access
ERP Server

Purpose for Acronis backup Solution

1. Previous Acronis Backup solution expired on 2017

2. Whole Server backup including files and installation configuration can be configured on time basis without
stopping the server services
3. Clients can work while the back in progress
4. Incremental backup for data's will be allowed, the changes in data's will monitored by the backup software on
second to minute basis and will update the backup, so latest data files will be safe.
5. All backup success/failure alerts can be configured to email id's
6. In case of hardware failure and further Server reconfiguration can be done by backup software and it may take
only few hours, so we can reduce reconstruction time from days to very few hours.
7. Disaster Backup : with Acronis software solution we can configure a Disaster backup solution

1. Active Directory Domain Server (Sohar Steel all units domain users, Network policies, Network security
protocols)
2. LHS_ERP Server (ERP Server Image, database, configurations)
3. Old ERP Server (Previous ERP & Data's)
4. TAMS Server (Time Attendance Software, Database and further configurations)
5. SS_VCentre_Server (Vcentre is the server which manages all other VM Servers in VM Infrastructure)
6. Secondary_DNS_ActiveDirectory Server
7. Backup Server (Whole Data's of clients & Servers are backed up to this storage server)
8. Hmail Server, PRTG, CCTV_CE
9. Sharq Sohar_LHS_ERP

Some servers & IT Clients are excluded from list where data's are not critical, configuration on excluded servers can
be taken manually

Client Users Back UP Plan

The above backup construction plan is for Servers, in cases client users require backup for their data's, we can
configure a network drive to client pc, but client have to copy their data's to network location manually, the data will
be stored to network storage devices at server room with level 1 security (no disaster backup), and client will be
responsible for the data loss if clients does not copy the data's to network drive assigned to them.

If we require a disaster backup required for clients we have to upgrade the storage hardware's.

These are the backup plan from IT Department and all inspection on current infrastructure, If any further
modifications required for above backup construction plan, it can be added after discussions.
