Computer Crime and its Impact

Computer Crime is also known as Cyber Crime. Any crime which is committed using a
computer, a network or any networked device is known as computer crime. Computer
crime is especially done through the use of the Internet. The necessity of the Internet
has given birth to computer crime.

Computer crime has a lot of impact on the individuals, society, organization, and the
country as a whole. It is one of the major concerns in today’s world. It breaches one’s
privacy and security of valuable data and information. It involves various other activities
like phishing, identity theft, internet fraud, stealing of valuable information, passwords,
credit card information, blackmail, cyber-stalking etc. The major effect of computer
crime is on financial aspect. Many people and companies have born huge financial
losses as a result of computer crime. Hackers steal internal information of big
companies and use the information for their personal benefit. Not only the individuals
and companies, government also bears huge losses as a result of computer crime.
Every year, government spends millions of dollars for cyber security.
