Dear Diary,
8: 30 PM

It was cold, and gloomy. It seems to me an indeterminate species

approached me in this cozy bed as the voice she has is mortifying, I, without
any hesitations judged her, to think that a 15-year-old speaks like that. “Get up
already, we want to see the sun set not the moon rise!,” she said and AWAKEN
my entire human soul with this pillow I now dub as the very first gift I got
from her. She left me no choice but to follow as she said.
On our way, as she pedal the bicycle hastily random animals move
back as if it’s the command of the queen and into the shadow, where a green
cluster of trees cover the view of the field. After what seemed a very long
while, there seemed like the face I have is sheer rock not moving on after the
incident. I now will address her aloud for the first time, “Jl, will you get me
that flashlight so I can see your pretty face?,” then there continued our
conversation that made her temper tantrum aswell as the night.

Lesson: We all have that one friend whom we can fool around, whom we can
joke around, whom we are comfortable to talk to anytime of the day
(regardless of the sex.)

Dear Diary,
8: 45 PM

The setting is at the home; I may or may not be proud to live in:
apropos to this matter, I have never invited friends to come over maybe for an
overnight, a birthday celebration, sorts of that kind, the usual take is (and this
rarely happens) The circle of friends I belong to just appears like wild animal
out of nowhere, if that’s the case, that just calls for interaction (I cannot
emphasize this enough but I’m not comfortable yet in bringing friends over our

home for it is yet to be called home but a house because of the circumstance
we have as a family – incomplete, but that’s not the issue, firstly, we don’t eat
together, secondly, we infrequently talk with the pillar of our – dad, which
also, to my understanding, led us to not be the closest family I have ever
known.

Lesson: Make a house, a home.

Dear Diary,
8: 00 PM

As the main character of this story loosely relish his time as if it’s his
last time, there entered an immense feeling of power present at the
atmosphere almost enough to suffocate anyone who wishes to say no to his
words, “You know already, don’t you?,” she said speedily while heading
towards at my study table where I always put my finished modules, “Which
ones have you done?,” with an utterly calm attitude at her face, “I haven’t done
anything yet, sleeping and exercising took out mostly all of the time which
were supposedly for studying,” I said with collosal amount of confidence, she
left without leaving any words.
This is a common situation for me, it took some time to be able to
voice it out for it is I who is fine with the abuse, I was a fool for nothing and
she was good for nothing.

Lesson: I have realized that goodness is only reserved for those who bear the
mind and heart to be of good to others, sadly, it ain’t for everybody.

Dear Diary,
9: 20 PM

It was in the midst of dusk to dawn while watching Jobless

Reincarnation; it’s plot was so gripping and exhilaratingly sound that it has
made a significant change in a way a person slash rock can actually feel
mixed emotions, it was something he often queried if he’s ever felt it, right
after what seemed goodnight already, something suddenly bugged him to not
let sleep probe. I sheepishly questioned my being, “ in video games,
oftentimes, when it has reached it’s limit what usually happens is the game
restarts, is that how love works too?,” sheepishly, that ended it.

Lesson: (I’ve written this the morning after everything has said and done, this
has come up my head - "I think you don't love me anymore," she exclaimed.
"Yes, because I have already reached the limit. I can't love you any more."
However, the answer didn’t take long before I figured it out, I have read
something that’ll explain the aforementioned theory.
"How long is forever love?" asked the girl. "It can be as long as the stars
twinkle and the earth rotates and it could be as short as I can take you in my
arms, my princess," replied the father.

Dear Diary,
9: 35 AM

At precisely nine twenty-five in the fourth Friday of April a boy woke

up in fury from the loud noise coming from the siren of an ambulance outside
his home. The next thing he did was grab to check his phone,
In a conversation:

4
: A BOY’S LIFE IN CIRCLE : APRIL 19 – MAY 4, 2021

“Submit pictures na gumagawa kayo ng activities… TILL THIS

AFTERNOON,”
Receives softcopies of modules aside from what he has to
which he is yet to finish*

From fury he was wearing a sheer rock face after that, “H-hi-hihinga
muna ako, sandali lang naman,” he replied in his native language. Thinking
that was all put the boy to ease, seconds later only to find out he has
something to do next… that was just the beginning of the day, also that was
the first terrible decision he did that day: waking up.

Lesson #1: To make things clear, it is not that he wishes not to wake up but
seeing his plate pile up did him good.
Lesson #2: Patience is a virtue.

Dear Diary,
10: 05 AM

It was on a moonless night in the midst of darkness and scary silence

of what seemed a lightless and liveless nipa hut that they have to shortly visit,
which was their own, as the circumstance they got into left them no choice
but to stay in it for a short time.
Knowing Lex, a scaredy cat, he would be shaking in fear right this
second- They needed to stop by and wait until their bicycle gets fixed. “Into
tita’s house we go,” he said too with dashes of smirks imprinted on his face
fifteen minutes before all the trouble took place.
The youngest of his aunt which lived very close was with Lex at that
night. Knowing her, a semi-psychological bully type of person, he already
expected to get a jumpscare but the level of terror he has is more than what
the poor boy can handle, and without any sign or warning she scared his soul
out ------.
5

.
“So much for the Jollibee which is the root of all this misfortune,” He
said in an wholly holistic approach. Fastforward: Two minutes into fixing their
bike they finally did it; they fixed the vehicle, got the Jollibee and rode back
home. “YAY!” he said with a grin.

Lesson: Have no fear but trust in him.

Note: This was a true-to-life situation which I couldn’t give justice in the way
I’ve written it.

Dear Diary,
6: 25 PM

Outside the church a boy was seemingly in confusion after hearing the
Father’s story about a giril and three boys.
In his story, he protrayed a girl who suddeny walked past by the priest
with his boyfriend in a mall. The next day, she was seen again by the same
priest walking as they hold hands as if they’re soul ties; but this time not with
the same boy.
The story continued, and I assumed the next part would be that the
priest just happen to walk pass by them the third time like all stories do.
I was right. And, so he asked if she has two boyfriends. “It’s my
“special” friend,” the girl exclaimed with a grin etched in their faces. The
following month, he, again saw the same girl, and again, with a different
person in a restaurant. The priest asked about their friendship, “Is he your
bestfriend?,” “Yes,”. The girl left the priest vexated.
The story ended as he narrates the relativity of the story with our
connection to God, ”This leaves us with the question, What is our relationship
to God.”

Lesson: The creator of the whole universe, God, loves you dearly and wants
you to be in a relationship with Him. He wants you to walk with Him daily. He
6
: A BOY’S LIFE IN CIRCLE : APRIL 19 – MAY 4, 2021

already knows you, but He wants you to get to know Him. And, just like
beginning and maintaining a relationship with anyone, you have to spend time
with Him in order to get to know Him.

Dear Diary,
10: 20 PM

Baby mosquito came back after its first flying. His Dad asked him, "How did
you feel ?". He replied, "It was wonderful Daddy... All humans clapped hands
for me!"
It was a day of social media for Lex, his studies have been put aside,
arranged in an array of aesthetic in his old wooden table sitting next
to his bed. In Facebook he saw a post which gave made him reminisce
the time back then when a smile is put to his face whenever he gets
to look up and see the sky, he was as gleeful as a baby getting tickled-
it was back then before all this mess happened.
Lesson: The reason why this post got me the chills is because everything is
dependent on the way we portray them like when the mosquito thought he’s
being applauded, he’s being killed.

Dear Diary,
9: 00 PM

In the vast fields of rice crops walking at a distant faire is our boy
heading towards their family picnic area. It was a mini get-together since
everyone is out at work and studies. “W-What is this?” he asked himself, “This
isn’t planned out but that doesn’t matter we barely even get together!”
Another person ran out of excitement, “Kuwa, kuwa!” he said as tears drip
down his large eyes from being the last in their running competition while
stuttering. It was the youngest of the family which really haven’t spoken a full
7

sentence yet in one blow but that makes him a toddler- How nice it is to see
the older generation get jubilation from such a crybaby. Wink* wink*
Some people are eating, some people are cleaning, some people are
playing; basically everyone is all over the place.
From mid-afternoon to noon, the three-generation family stood
together in one picnic.

Lesson #1: Life is full of surprises, no one knows what God has planned for us
but whatever it is trust the progress.
Lesson #2: “God, sometimes will destroy our plans if he sees our plans are
going to destroy us.”

Dear Diary,

A girl with an admirable fashion sense left the white and red plated
room she was in brisk with an appaling look on her face that left the people
surrounding here wonder. Little did they know what caused it.
In a day of boredom at a house which has yet to be finished, here lays
thee, the boy who constantly is put out of track and the girl who is constantly
bringing niggle, “thou art what? Sometimes an introvert thee, on a good day an
outgoing, cheerful thee,” the girl asked in open air with fleeting confidence
“Open thine eyes and you’ll see.” An interesting question started the
conversation between the two and that made the girl burst in emotion, the boy
was Lex.

Lesson: First, Know the person infront of you, Second, know the person that
reside within you.

Dear Diary,
10: 20 PM

A man went to a barbershop to have his usual hair cut. Before him
was an old man with a long hair and beard seemingly he has let them grow
because we wanted to
As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually
touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."
"Why do you say that?" asked the customer. "Well, you just have to go out in
the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there
be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed,
there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who
would allow all of these things." The customer thought for a moment, but
didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber
finished his job and the customer left the shop as if nothing happened.
There, this boy came up to the barber and said he wanted he wants his
hair done. After that when he got outside to go back home. He saw a man in
the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked
dirty and unkempt. The boy DID NOT turn back nor enter the barber shop but
this was his IMAGINATION: "You know what? Barbers do not exist." "How can
you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And
I just worked on you!" "No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist
because
if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed
beards, like that man outside." "Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens
when people do not come to me." "Exactly!" affirmed the customer. "That's the
point! God, too, DOES exist! That's what happens when people do not go to Him
and don't look to Him for help. That's why there's so much pain and suffering
in the world."

9
: A BOY’S LIFE IN CIRCLE : APRIL 19 – MAY 4, 2021

That boy with the widest imaginative segment up his head was actually Lex
trying to get his hair done.

Lesson: God exists for those who go up to him.

Dear Diary,
9: 00 PM

A friend of mine in response to a conversation we were having about

the injustice of life, she asked me the question,” who said life was going to be
fair or that it was even meant to be fair” her question was a good one, it
reminded me of something, I was thought as a youngster life isn't fair it's them
[the people] but it's absolutely true and recognizing this can be a very
liberating. Inside of me, I said and I explained one of the mistakes many of us
make, is that we feel sorry for ourselves or for others thinking that life should
be fair or that someday it will be, it's not and it won't happen, when we make
this mistake with them to spend a lot of time while moving and or complaining
about what's wrong with life, we commiserate with others discussing the
injustice of life, it is not fair, we complain not realizing that perhaps it was
never intended to be and our conversation got deeper by the second.
Surrendering to the fact that life isn't fair keeps us from feeling sorry
for ourselves by encouraging us to do the very best we can with what we
have, we know it's not life's job to make everything perfect but our own
challenge.

Lesson: Surrender to the fact that life isn't fair.

Dear Diary,
9: 00 PM

In the happy fields of Castillo Clan, there seen in an angle a boy

reading a story written years ago. I can’t write the whole story but the gist of
it.

An old man lived with his son and daughter- in- law. The son had a little boy,
about 7 years old. Every night the woman would set the table for dinner, and
at the grandfather's place, she would set a tin cup and plate. The little boy
asked “ why does grandpa get a tin plate and cup, while we get to eat off of
the dishes from the china cupboard? The parents told him “ grandpa spills and
breaks things”. The little boy said “ oh”.

Many years later, the little boy had grown up. His elderly father came to visit,
and the whole family was seated at the table which was resplendently
decorated for the holidays, fine china, best wine…..In front of the boy’s father
was a tin plate and cup. The father asked his son why he got tin utensils. The
son replied “because that's what you always gave grandpa.”

Lesson: This story can be interpreted in different ways, but for me, it guided
my practice: The elderly are human, they had children the same way we did,
or played on the playground, and danced, and loved, among other things. They
each are individuals, not just “old people”. One simple story, a profound effect.

Dear Diary,
6: 05 PM

It was a sunny morning bliss of joyful quietude when a library-o’-

wisdom came up to him. It was Lex’ grandmother. “Shower early so we could

11
: A BOY’S LIFE IN CIRCLE : APRIL 19 – MAY 4, 2021

get a front sit in the church, we’ll listen,” she said while abrubtly filling the
bucket with water for her bath. I replied, “Okay fine.”
The boy being half tagalog and half kapampangan appears that he did
not fully perceive the priest’s words but he did catch what he was saying
through context clues. He just nodded his head looking like he was in a trance
of something and when asked by his next-sitter if he understood what the
priest said, he couldn’t reply speedily and he had to let the informations soak
in his head before responding.
In Father’s story, he uncover an overview of a wealthy mother to
which the priest did not state of how many children she had.
Amounting to 10 million was her house’ worth, living in glitter and
gold. The mother said with her head tilted up while looking down on the priest.
She, then showed off with the huge television one of her sons has given her
but it only took them a few seconds to realize the tv wasn’t working leaving
the mother in full-on embarrassment, apparently not everything and everyone
that glitter is gold. Not noticing it was not pluged on, the mother did not
realize until one of the maids told them.
The Father then related the issue to life that it doesn’t matter whether
you live a luxurious life or not if you can’t afford to connect with God,

Lesson: Connect to God.

It was a day to look forward to- I really am in a state of mind where I

want to do something new, it is not because I’m bored but because I am
feeling happy, do you get my point? I want to do something new for I am
happy. I walked past the white and yellow painted living room decorated with
some of the most cherished instruments the boy had then he saw a keyboard

12

quietly siting down all dusty. Without second thought, he sat in the chair and
started trying to play a tone. He failed miserably but knowing he had
something started for put him to an allay- and that is also a profound and far-
reaching hobby of playing the keyboard.

Lesson: Make peace with hobbies.

Half a day has passed by productively: to read, clean, workout was my

goal afterall – he was happy, and he have taken too much to handle a read-
clean-workout routine. To have reached this point was out of my head, it
never appeared there. The other half I spent doing anything but
procrastinating — just how fast time changes.

Lesson: Living is like a box of chocolates you never know what you’ll get.
