FLAME TEST: ELEMENTS AND COMPOUNDS


A. Procedure
1. One at a time, do the flame test on each element and compound. Put a small amount of water on
your plastic cup.
2. Pour a little powder in your plastic cup. Stir it using stirring rod.
3. Dip one end of a popsicle stick into the solution. Coat the tip of the stick completely.
4. Light your candle and place the tip of the popsicle to the flame for 30 seconds.
5. Observe the color of the flame. Write it on your observation.

1. DO NOT EAT THE CHEMICALS.
2. DO NOT DRINK THE SOLUTIONS.
3. DO NOT TOUCH THE POWDER.
4. DO NOT TOUCH THE POPSICLE’S FLAME
5. USE FACE MASK.
