Elaborate the needs of organize local tourism office and why it is


significant in tourism industry.

The Local Government Unit is responsible for ensuring the


readiness and execution of the tourism development plan, as well as
enforcing requirements and collecting statistical data for tourism
purposes. Local tourism development plans should integrate
infrastructure development, the national framework of standards for
tourism enterprises, heritage preservation, and environmental
protection, and other mediums of adaptations that needs in a way that
promotes tourism development. For these reasons, the organize local
tourism office is relevant in the tourism industry because they also
align the Local Tourism Development Plan and the LGU Business Plan,
which is essential to ensure the development of crucial tourism-
related investments or business opportunities.

2. Why tourism roles and functions of a local tourism office and local
tourism officers are important? In what way they are helpful in
tourism industry?
The duties of the local tourism office are divided into three
categories: planning and growth, marketing services, statistics and
research, and education and training. With this, tourism is a
significant industry that shall have a permanent position for tourism
officer to ensure its monitoring and enforcement. Local Tourism
Officers play an important role not only in tourism promotion, but
also in the creation, implementation, and updating of local tourism
development plans, as well as in the enforcement of tourism laws,
rules, and regulations. As the coordinator for all of these
activities, the Tourism Officer should have a solid understanding of
the fundamental concepts and processes of tourism growth.

3.If you are the municipal tourism officer, what kind of program/
development you are going to implement to make sure that the tourism
front-liners are well equipped. effective and efficient, and why?

As a municipal tourism officer, I will focus on education and


training program to ensure that the front-liners are well equipped.
For example, I would create a program that titled “ Bukas sa aking
Kalooban”. Bukas sa Aking Kalooban program promotes hospitality-
integrated character for the frontlines. The main objective of this
program is to conduct Tourism Front-Liners Awareness and Values
Training in handling different tourist attitude and needs to give
excellent services. This will also increase the impression and rating
of the tourist that visits on the place I handled. Furthermore, I will
also do Statistics and Research. I will compute whether the
establishments are enough for accommodation and address the problems
that will be seen. For this action, the facilities that are needed by
the frontlines will be filled.

4. How does the Department of Tourism apply their functions and


responsibilities?

The Department of Tourism has created the National Tourism Development


Plan (NTDP), which aims to resolve the sector's main challenges over
the next five years. The National Tourism Development Plan, led by the
Department of Tourism, is the product of input from national
government agencies, local government units, the private sector,
including Chambers of Commerce, and interested non-governmental
organizations. This will focus upon inclusive socio-economic growth,
and the designation of the tourism sector. This will improve the
following: comprehensive assessment of the tourism sector's
competitive strengths, vulnerabilities, opportunities, and threats;
detailed consultations with over 1,380 stakeholders across the
country; lessons learned from previous tourism strategies and plans.

5. What is the role of local government officials in tourism?


Any municipality or city has the potential to become a tourist
destination and to provide tourism-related services to the province or
area. If the Local Government Unit (LGU) is just getting started with
local tourism or tourism is a booming local industry, it is important
to manage the tourism services and assets in order to maximize and
maintain them. Making a profile of the local tourism industry often
involves finding tourism and related issues in order to address and
mitigate them. The role of government officials is to support the
local tourism offices in their places that they handle. In terms of
operations, this will include the creation of a tourism office and the
corresponding personnel complement within the LGU organizational
framework, with the primary responsibility for the production and
implementation of Tourism Developments.
