Affected
instrument(s) Freedom EVO series (EVO, EVO clinical) with PosID-3
Subject PosID-3 changes on X drive

Situation
The PosID-3 X-drive has been changed to have the cable holder chain running completely
underneath the worktable. This improvement reduces the noise level of the PosID-3 without
having an impact on the reading performance of the PosID-3.

Detailed description of the change:

The cable chain holder has been moved over to the other side of the x-shaft. It’s now located
between the x-shaft and the x-belt. To ensure a smooth operation of the cable holder chain,
a Teflon strip is attached to the bottom side of the grey painted worktable (not necessary for
stainless steel worktables).

The slotted holes (A) in the PosID-3 base had to be repositioned, which required a change
on new EVO-2 chassis.

Compatibility with spare parts
To upgrade or replace a new PosID-3 on an instrument manufactured prior to this change,
follow the procedure in the Freedom EVO service manual chapter 5.3 (appended on next
pages).
The x-motor assembly (B) had to be redesigned as well. The new X-motor assembly (B) is
mechanically not compatible to the old PosID-3 base. In case of a defective, old x-motor
assembly, it is necessary to change to the new PosID-3 base. Refer to the list below for
article numbers.
For identification reasons, the spare part number of the x-motor assembly has been changed
from # 30013940 to # 30025670.
