Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the 1st quarter of academic year 2021-2022 and wish all of you every
success in this quarter. I want to extend a warm welcome to all new faculty members
and to all those who are taking on new roles within the deanship.

All the faculty members (male & female), have to adhere to the following:

As you all know that lectures are scheduled to start from Sunday August 29, 2021, at
7:30 AM.

• Ensure, you have got your timetable.

• Be informed that the faculty members are expected to give the lectures from their
offices for online lectures. This clarifies also that faculty members must come to
his/her office daily, regardless of having lectures or not.
• For online lectures send a welcome email to the students in the email please make sure
that you will:

1. Send the links of the lectures to your students through PYD portal
notification (only for the first week).
2. Ask the students to login the live lecture by using their KFU ID.
3. Take students' attendance from the blackboard or Zoom report and upload the
attendance on PYD Portal.
• Print the attendance sheet on daily basis for both face-to-face and online classes.
• On the attendance sheet, the highlighted students are not allowed to attend the face-to-
face class and the instructors must send him/her to the auditorium to register their
details immediately.
• On the attendance sheet, the highlighted students are allowed to attend the online
class, but the instructors must inform such a student that he/she will be considered
absent until the completion of the two doses of Corona Vaccine.
• To mark the attendance of face-to-face and online classes, the instructors must write
COV for highlighted students in the comment box.
• Present the course syllabus in the first lecture and when your section is active in
blackboard, please upload the course syllabus.
• Allocate 4 office hours to the students in blackboard or zoom or any platform (only
for the first week) after please use blackboard.
• Help session are face-to-face. Students have to book the session through PYD portal.
Please Allocate 1 hour help session for each section (if you have only one section
designate at least 2 help sessions).
• Follow exactly the blackboard template in your account for how to name folders, files
and make the necessary adjustments to the course site on the blackboard system in
accordance with the template sent by the e-learning and distance education Deanship.
• Upload the recorded Lectures on blackboard according to the template. In case you do
not have a recorded lecture, you have to record your live lecture /session, and then
upload on the blackboard system.
• Report immediately any issues to the department coordinator. If you cannot deliver
your class for any reason.
• After the first week for each lecture, extract the attendance report from blackboard for
online lectures then upload the attendance on PYD Portal.
• Coordinator in each department is responsible for following up the faculty members in
his department to adhere these instructions.
