Principal characteristics
NAF-Flex wedge gate valves are made of carbon steel
and alloy steel for PN 16-100 and DN 50-1200,
depending on the pressure class. The wedge gate
valves are available with flanged or welding ends.
NAF-Flex valves are of welded steel design, with
forgings or rolled hot-pressed steel parts used as the
raw materials. The components comprising seating
surfaces are made of corrosion-resistant and wear-
resistant materials, such as chromium, chromium
molybdenum steel or stellite which is applied by direct
welding.
The two-piece gate is located by guides and two halves
of the gate are movable to ensure good contact with
the seat surfaces. This design also prevents the gate
from jamming. The force from the stem is transmitted
to the gate by a thrust plate.
The body of the wedge gate valve is circular and has
a recessed bonnet gasket. The body is provided with
guides designed to ensure accurate location of the
gate, and the bottom of the body is provided with a
stop which prevents the gate from travelling beyond
the seating surfaces of the body.
Back-seating at the stuffing box protects the packing
in service, and the hardened and grounded stem with
graphite stuffing box ensures a minimum of main-
tenance.
