What do you think is the


purpose in asking those questions? (10 pts.)

The two questions which were asked by the resource person are about the applicant’s salary
expectations and their respective key strengths. Discussing with the applicant about their salary
expectations is essential because, as an employer, you will be able to weigh if an employer is
deemed deserving of their salary expectation.Also, you will be able to secure a competent and
reliable applicant. For example, If the potential employee is highly fit to the requirements needed
in a certain position, then asking this question will help you secure this competent applicant.
They will most likely take the job if their salary expectation is met by the employer. Moreover,
Human capital is by far the most valuable asset in an organization. It is the key factor of the
development of a company. It will surely be a great investment. Asking about the key strengths
of the applicant will definitely give you a better understanding of the applicant and how they will
function in the company. Knowing where they think they excel enables the organization to
achieve much more. In an employer’s perspective, the main reason for asking this question is to
know what the applicant can provide to the company and why they should hire him/her instead
of someone else. It gives an opportunity for the candidate to stand out from the crowd and will
definitely help the employer in choosing who is highly qualified for the job.

2. What can you say about the activity in terms of how it will be helpful to you as a future
employee or employer? (10 pts.)

As an employee, It gives me a glimpse of what real-life interviews are. By participating in


this activity, I was able to familiarize myself with the interview environment beforehand. It
made me experience firsthand how a real life job interview feels like. Listening to the
interviewees’ response to the questions will help me determine what is a good answer to
the question and what is not. Through this mock interview, I was given a chance to also try
answering the interviewer’s question to the interviewee in my head. It gives me an
opportunity to practice what to say and do during interviews because It helps me to avoid
mistakes and improve my chances of getting hired by the organization. Observing how the
interviewee answers the question will help me develop interview strategies and learn how to
answer questions in an impressive way such that I will be able to stand out among the rest
of the applicants. On top of that, It will help me work on areas where I have my
weaknesses. As an employer, This activity helps me determine how to do interviews
properly. Since interviews are an essential part of the employee selection process, I need to
be able to do it effectively because human capital is an investment. If I was able to do it
properly, then I will be able to determine if the candidate can fit the organization’s needs
and culture. I will be able to achieve more if I was able to choose the right applicants during
the interview. This activity will help me to determine the experience, personality, strengths
and weaknesses of the applicants to see if they meet the job’s requirements.
