JIS B O43 (9) Symbols and Designations of Dimensions for Threaded Fasteners 1. Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies designations of dimensions for threaded fasteners such as bolts, machine screws, nuts, and symbols for indicating them, hereinafter referred to as the "symbols for dimensions". The symbols for dimensions specified in this standard shall be used for portions corresponding to designations of dimensions and those for other portions shall be specified individual standards for threaded fastene However, those symbols shall be specified so as not to duplicate the symbols given in this standard. Remark: The symbols and designations of dimensions given in this standard are equivalent in English to 1SO 225-1983, 2, Symbols of Dimensions for Fasteners with External Thread and Designations of Dimensions Corresponding to Them 2.1 Symbols of Dimensions for Fasteners with External Thread Symbols of aimonsions for fasteners with external thvend itches Resor ha Rexagon head bolts, hexagon head bolts with collars, hexagon socket head bolts, studs, machine Screws, set screws. wood screws, tapping screws shall be in accordance with Attached Figs. 1.1 to 1.9, These figures indicate the portions to which th symbols of dimensions are applied and do not specify the method to indicate dimensions on the drawings for fasteners with external thread. Attached Figs. 1.1 to 1.8 are examples and shall be applied correspond- ingly to other fasteners with external thread. 2.2 Designations of Dimensions for Symbols of Dimensions for Fasteners with External Theend The dea! jesignations of dimensions used lor yon ‘symbols of dimensions Specified in 2.1 shall be ii n accordance with Attached Table 1. —107— —B 0143— 3.
