I. ESSAY

La Union, the Surfing Capital of the North,  is more than just surfing and beaches. It has many
historical places to be visited and are scattered around the Province. 
Shrine of Our Lady of Namacpacan is located at Luna Union. This a century old church of the St
Catherine de Alexandria and is called Namacpacan due to local people's impressive hospitality
to visitors. Also Baluarte is located in Luna which stands in the pebble beaches. There is also
Camp Spencer in the town which is a wartime general headquarters of the United States Army
Forces jn the Philippines - Northern Luzon. In the City of San Fernando, you can find the Heroes
Hill and Freedom Park. This are nine statues of our National Heroes which are situated at the
eastern portion of the capital hill.  This signifies the people's reverence to their works and
sacrifices in attaining the freedom of our nation. Also,  Bacsil Ridge are located in the town. This
is one of the most battle sites in the Region. In Bacnotan and Caba has its own Centennial Tree
which are witnesses to the various stages of local history. In Rosario, World War II Vintage
Cannon is there. This was a french howitzer used in World War II. In Aringay, you can find the
Salapak Tunnel,  a 500 meter tunnel thay was made jn 1913 during the American Regime.
Take an opportunity to discover our province and find reasons to keep coming back. With these
historical places, it is worthy to visit our province. Come and be amazed of our province rich in
history.
II. CASE ANALYSIS

A. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo spanned nine years from January 20, 2001 to June 30
2010. She was then a vice president in Estrada's Administration. After former
President Joseph Estrada was deposed, she served the remainder term. She
rendered 3 years as vice president and 3 years as president. She assumed the
presidency following the EDSA II revolution which ousted the democratically
elected President Estrada. Although the Philippine Constitution bars a president
from reelection, it still allows for the election of a person who has succeeded as
president and has served not more than four years. This qualify former President
Arroyo to run as President in 2004 Presidential election. She announced that she
would not seek the new term in the Philippines general election. After couple of
months she reversed her announcement and run as president. After a tough
election campaign, she won the election by a margin of over a million votes
against her rival.
B. Being in one peso does not lower your significance and honor. Jose Rizal is
known as National Hero of the Philippines because of what he had done in our
country. A 1000 bill is not a 1000 bill without a one peso. You cannot count up to
1000 bill if there's no one peso. One peso completes all the higher bills because
it's the foundation of all bills. This signifies the importance and heroic act of our
National Hero. Because without him, we cannot have our own freedom. Without
him and other heroes being brave enough to take stand against Spanish Colonial
government, maybe we don't have independence. Philippines is not Philippines
without Jose Rizal. He does not only possess intellectual brilliance but he is
admired because of his compassion towards the Filipino people and the country.
Even his own life will be the price of his act, he won't hesitate to fight for the
Philippines.
