T he intrigue of the spiritual world and your own intuition has led
you to discover and pick up this book. You may be wondering,
“Why am I drawn to read this book?” “Is this book for me?” “Am I
a Cosmic Warrior?”

But you’re here and it’s all for a reason. Even if you don’t know
it yet.

As a Spiritual Mentor and Psychic Medium it’s an honour and

a privilege to work with someone to reactivate and grow their
intuition. I’ll always remember Bridget’s first intuitive mentorship
session. She said to me “I don’t know why I’m here but I know
I’ve got to work with you.” Was it a coincidence we were brought
together? No. Her intuitive curiosity and openness led for our paths
to cross. Instantly I loved the fact that Bridget shared her vulner-
ability and her willingness to learn. When we follow our intuition
sometimes it doesn’t make sense, we just have to trust. We have to
take the leap of faith.

That’s what Bridget did to bring you this insightful book. She re-
discovered and reactivated her intuitive gifts that she had forgotten
existed. With determination and courage she went deep looking
into the why. But most importantly, Bridget trusted her own inner
guidance and listened to the “ Hell Yes” messages from her Guides.
She found her voice and became the Cosmic Warrior.

INTRODUCTION

COSMIC WARRIOR

A re you curious about spirit guides or crystals? Are you

wondering what it means to listen to your inner voice but
laugh because you don’t know which one to pick? Are you drawn to
New Age or spiritual things but feel lost? Well, this book is for you.

It might surprise you, but I completely understand what you are

feeling because I was you not too long ago. Really. I am a mom
of two teens living a pretty ordinary life. I am happy and healthy.
I didn’t have a big crisis that drew me to search for my soul
purpose. There wasn’t a major breakdown, I didn’t overcome a
drug problem, or even have a dramatic life and death experience
from which to draw upon. Sure, it would be far more exciting if I
had a pivotal moment such as one of those, but I was just led to
this point in a subtle way.

I have always felt a curiosity towards the spiritual world but I

ignored it. I pushed it away. But when my kids made the decision to
go away to boarding school I noticed the tug grew stronger. Without
the daily chaos of kids around, I could hear myself think. I was
suddenly all alone but it was more than that. It was the first time I
became quiet. In the stillness, I began to notice the signs.

At first, it felt like a weird coincidence. I’d see repeated numbers

3
COSMIC WARRIOR

on a clock. Or I’d see crystals in places I never noticed before.

Seemingly out of the blue there would be crystals in a local shop
that never sold them before. Or I would overhear two people
discussing Reiki massage in the line at the grocery store. It was
little things that kept popping up.

These things may seem normal to you but they were not my norm.
Or at least I didn’t believe it to be my kind of normal.

Things I deemed New Age were all around me. I saw them as
integrated naturally into my life rather than a strange idea that was
out of my sphere. I was acutely aware of objects around me.

I detected little items, such a simple feather that appeared on my

car seat. The feather showed up when it was the middle of winter
in the mountains. This is not common for me. I sensed it was more
than a coincidence. To me, these were messages from the spirit
world. And they succeeded in getting my attention.

If these were messages, what does it mean? After all, I am a preppy

soccer mom of teens. It was my understanding that the people who
were New Age or spiritual were the 20-something modern hippies,
not me. And yet the signs kept showing up.

If I was going to figure this out, I would need to get out of my comfort
zone. But more than that, this was a total departure from what I felt
was my personality. Deep down, I was more afraid of what others
would think of me rather than what could be the meaning of the
spirit messages.

Which is why I kept this to myself while I went on a quest for an

explanation.

I was intrigued. Who was trying to get my attention? Where do they

come from? And what in the world could these signs mean?

4
INTRODUCTION

This was a mystery I was determined to solve. I was interested in

knowing why I was getting these signs. And more importantly, who
was sending them? Was it a spirit, an angel, or maybe someone I
know who had died that was trying to reach me?

It was hard to piece together what it could mean. I don’t have a

circle of friends who discuss these topics. I didn’t know where to
begin. I even briefly told myself I was making this all up because
it was daunting and felt way too foreign to me. I tried to convince
myself there was no connection and it was all random. But the
signs seemed to present themselves more and more almost as if
they were taunting me.

My instinct is not to jump straight to the conclusion that it must

be the spiritual world talking to me. This is not my regular “go-to”
for an answer. In the past, I would liken it to a good luck sign. The
fact my instinct insisted this was a spirit message was the reason I
couldn’t let it go.

The only way to find out was to get over my blocks, my fears, and
notions of anything New Age. The hardest thing for me to overcome
is the fear of judgment. I know it’s dumb, and we shouldn’t worry
what others think of us but I did. And admittedly, I often still do.
However, when I released those fears I found I was more open to
where this might lead.

The essential first step for me was determining the validity of a

spirit guide. I like concrete proof. And I had no frame of reference
on anything related to spirit guides. I was determined to assess if
these signs were from a spirit guide.

And that is when I happened to listen to a podcast that featured

Natalie Miles. I was new to listening to podcasts. I wanted to
understand wellness tips and this particular host was interviewing

5
COSMIC WARRIOR

Natalie. I didn’t know about her and soon came to realize she is a
medium who connects people with their spirit guides. I mean, is
there a bigger sign that I could have received?

You’d think right away I’d reach out and get her to help me talk to
my spirit guide. But no, I waited. I believe I waited a few months
before I looked her up online and sent an email asking about how
it all works. The desire to comprehend it all didn’t subside, so I sent
her an email asking about the process. And I’m not making this part
up. She replied to my email saying that the booking came through
at 2:22 on the 22nd and made a specific comment connecting the
sign with the spirit numbers.

It was confirmation that I was on the right path. But where it was
leading me was still so unknown.

I wish I had someone I knew that I could talk to about this search.
I felt alone. And the more I searched I naturally withdrew more. I
needed that girlfriend who understood this desire to seek answers
about spirit guides. I wanted to get straight answers without any
judgment.

There wasn’t another 50-year old suburban, tennis playing mom

to casually ask about spirit guides. Or I didn’t know anyone who
understood Tarot cards and could fill me in. I felt like I was such an
oddball for even wanting to know, yet at the same time, I couldn’t
possibly tell a friend that I believed that the signs were real.

This was the big barrier for me. I really wanted to know a few things
and was not finding any answers when I did quick searches online.
It would have been helpful if there was a guidebook to explain the
basic topics for a newbie.

Since I couldn’t find the woman I was looking for, I decided to

6
INTRODUCTION

become her. I began to compile the information as I learned it in

order to explain it to others. I knew that if I was curious about spirit
guides then there were definitely others like me looking, too.

When I searched online I found vague answers to my questions and

the websites didn’t resonate with me. I didn’t feel the authors of
the posts spoke to me. They were talking to people who had a basic
knowledge and it felt over my head. Or the ones that had a more
elementary approach didn’t provide the answers I was seeking.

Another obstacle I self-imposed was my belief that New Age was

for a certain type of person. I told myself that New Age wasn’t
something I could be into. It was so different and almost scary.
And that couldn’t be further from the truth. This dialogue I created
in my mind and held me back, so it became another goal of mine
for the book. I want to help shatter any stereotypes people hold
regarding spiritual, New Age and holistic lifestyles.

When I began seeking answers to my spiritual questions, I never

imagined I would find myself happily among mystics, healers and
Tarot readers. As far as the stereotypes go, I wouldn’t even come
close to the image many have in their mind when they think of a
spiritual teacher.

The fact is, everyone is welcome and each of us has a unique gift to
bring to the table. I am only scratching the surface on my abilities,
and it’s fun to collaborate with other healers and mystics.

Which brings me to writing the book. Consider me your big sister,

your fun aunt, your friend who you can ask anything to, and, while
we may laugh about it, I won’t judge. Believe me, if I have learned
anything in this process it is that, once you start to uncover who
you truly want to become, the judgment falls away. It just does.

7
COSMIC WARRIOR

The journey to find answers boosted my curiosity because the

process opened my eyes to a new way of looking at my life. I
couldn’t learn enough. I would take to heart what I uncovered. I
took the initiative to actively learn for myself.

My personality won’t allow me to simply learn Tarot cards. Instead,

I had to know how to read them myself. Just like I wasn’t satisfied
connecting to my spirit guide. I was driven to learn how to develop
my intuitive skills, so I could connect to my spirit guide anytime.

The process has done more than introduce me to my spirit guides.

My fears, barriers, and judgments have subsided. And I have come
to realize that we all have spiritual abilities. We all have amazing
gifts and it is up to each of us to decide if we want to strengthen
our skills to use them.

The primary reason I decided to write this book was to offer an

easy entry for those looking to understand their spiritual gifts. I
couldn’t find a source that covered a broad range of topics in a
concise, simple manner. I didn’t need an expert’s take. I needed a
relatable one. And that is the ultimate goal of the book: to provide
a handy resource for the new kid just beginning their soul seeking.

This book is a beginner’s guide. It offers brief details on what

confused me in the beginning. You will quickly grasp the basic
knowledge, which will then build your confidence to dig even
deeper in the areas that interest you. I offer a straightforward
approach to make it as useful to as many as possible.

My intention is to explain these topics in a simple guide so that

it breaks down the barrier to entry. I don’t want fear or any pre-
conceived judgment to stand in the way. I ignored the signs for so
long, and looking back I wish I acted sooner. If I can get past my

8
INTRODUCTION

own blocks and discover an amazingly fresh new perspective on

my life, then I am confident anyone can do the same.

My objective is to bring you clarity. I hope there are words on these

pages that will resonate with you. And possibly what is written
becomes the validation for how you have been feeling. You are
not alone. Ultimately, I want to inspire you to dive deeper into the
areas that you are guided to and take it to heart.

If nothing else, I hope to not just break the old stereotype but
redefine, recreate, and reimagine what it means to be spiritual.
I completely understand the skepticism because I had my share
of it before beginning this exploration. I am aware of the rolling
eyes, the sneers, and the smirks. But now that I have opened up
my mind, heart, and soul to my psychic gifts, I can’t help but share
this with others.

It is worth repeating: I was you. I was hesitant to believe in this

stuff. I wanted the messages I was seeing to be real but felt any
signs from spirit were just in my imagination. When I take an
honest look at myself, I recall moments during my childhood when
I definitely had “knowing” feelings. I didn’t act on any of them or
even process them as such back then. But for some reason, I built
up a block or a huge wall to those “knowing” feelings. And due to
this repeated behavior, over the course of a lifetime, it is no wonder
I was reluctant to explore.

This book is for the new seeker, the one who is just beginning
to search for answers. Feel free to read the book in any order of
importance you choose. Jump around from topic to topic, and have
fun with it.

I stick to the basics. This is not a textbook of facts or designed as a

set of steps to take. Rather, it’s a compilation of what I regard as the

9
COSMIC WARRIOR

essential material for the seeking novice. There are plenty of books
filled with more detail on specific topics that I encourage you to
check out. This is your introduction manual. In time, you will find
yourself ready to dive into the more advanced material.

I will be a lifelong learner of all things “woo-woo” because there is

so much more to this than I will ever know. I am excited to share
with you what I have uncovered and set you on your way to seek
more.

A cosmic warrior is someone who not only believes that a greater

power is guiding all of us but also possesses the courage and deter-
mination to follow the signs which are leading them to become
who they are meant to be.

It’s an exciting journey you are embarking on. My best advice is

to open your mind to possibilities and enjoy the discovery. My
mission is to provide a relatable experience, so you will feel com-
fortable enough to listen to your own inner voice, trust in your
intuition, and then decide to follow the signs.

10
MY STORY

How did I get here? How do any of us get here?

I grew up in a large family. When I say large, I mean it. I was one
of eleven kids each born about a year apart. As the first girl after
eight brothers, I had a big welcome to the world and then quickly
assimilated as part of the pack. A sister and brother would follow
right after me and they rounded out the nucleus of our family.

As you can probably guess, I was raised as an Irish Catholic in

Chicago. It’s the only thing that makes sense to people when you
explain the number of siblings. The Irish and the Catholic aspects
to my life were reinforced with pride. We went to the same Catholic
school my dad attended (he was one of nine children). The role of
the Catholic Church was strong for us but not as much as in other
families in our neighborhood. To be honest, we went to church
often, but we missed service a lot, too. By the time I was in grade
school, I think our family grew a lot more indifferent to the religion
than other families.

As a young kid, I was quiet. I remember hearing my parents and

other adults describe me as shy. I naturally took the label of shy
to be my persona and I truly believed it. At about age 12, I vividly
remember a conversation with my dad.

He wanted me to know that I didn’t have to be shy. My dad shaped

11
COSMIC WARRIOR

his story to compare our lives. He, too, was told when he was a
kid that he was shy. But when he was a teenager he concluded he
didn’t have to be shy. It was then he resolved to choose who he
wanted to be.

I sat in the passenger seat of the car stunned. It never occurred to

me, until that moment, that being shy was a choice I was making.
It was a major shakeup in my life. I felt like I was let in on the little
secret that only a few would figure out: we get to choose who we
want to be.

He explained that it’s ok if I wanted to be shy, but he stressed the

importance in understanding I was making that choice. This news
came as a big relief to me. For whatever reason, the shy label never
felt right.

I was energized. I didn’t have to be shy. Conveniently, I played

the role all my life. But things were not the same any longer. I was
given the reigns and in control. From then on, I made a conscious
decision to act in a manner that would never give anyone the
impression I was shy. I shifted into the author of my own story,
and I was ready.

It wasn’t until much later that I thought about the transition I made
from shy to an extrovert. I like to observe and prefer to watch and
listen before acting. And I think my true self would like to assess the
energy of a room or a person before engaging, but I have trained
myself to join in without tapping into those senses first.

Like most people, we learn these great lessons, but then we fall into
a pattern and then kind of forget about the lesson. While I didn’t
become shy again, I did let the main message of the talk with my
dad in the car all those years ago kind of fade for a long time. The
control of writing my own story sort of got lost in my need to fit in

12
MY STORY

with the societal pressures. I like to follow the rules, and choose
what is deemed to be the right path and that inevitably took some
of my control.

I consciously designed the life I am living. I had an idea of what I

wanted for my life: to be married, have kids, stay at home to raise
them, and to live an adventurous lifestyle. That is the amazing life
I wanted and the one I created.

What I didn’t realize was that I ignored the cue from my inner voice
and instead followed the rules like everyone else in my environ-
ment. My desire to be “good” and do what is considered “right”
played a significant role in shaping my life. It didn’t feel right to
color outside the lines, so it makes sense that I didn’t feel comfort-
able making waves in my life.

Yet, I firmly believe this is how my life was meant to unfold. And at
the same time, I’m grateful that I’ve learned to assess how I arrived
at this point. To be candid, I wasn’t ready until now. I would not
have been able to take action years ago.

I’ve come to realize that we don’t need to search for any answers.
We already know them.

Turns out, we should listen more.

The messages I heard felt like a validation or a confirmation of

sorts. I wanted to get more signs and clues in order to work on the
skills needed to tune in more. Even though everyone has spiritual
abilities, this can be a difficult process to learn how to use them.
Many times I wanted to stop. I was transforming and that was scary.

But in order to grow, we need to face the scary and find the courage
to push past it. I was able to remember my dad telling me that
I could choose who I wanted to be. It is not a coincidence that

13
COSMIC WARRIOR

memory came back so vividly. I used that conversation with my

dad to remind myself to keep looking and keep searching. Don’t
stop until you become who you are meant to be.

It’s not simply about finding answers. This search has made me
realize I’m not alone. That none of us are alone. Be open to all of
life’s possibilities. My life has been regenerated because I have put
trust in my intuition. I feel I am that 12-year-old kid in the car being
told to seize the power and become your true self. My mission is to
empower you with the same message.

14
HOW TO CONNECT TO YOUR
INNER VOICE

“The quieter you become the more you are able to hear.”
–Rumi

T he inner voice is the key to unlocking many of the secrets to

this journey. We have been conditioned to believe we need
to consult outside our self for answers, but the fact is we have the
answers inside of us. There is no need to look elsewhere. Looking
inward is the where the magic happens.

We all have the gift of inner wisdom. It’s a tug or a knowingness

we feel. It is often described as your inner voice, but some also
call it an inner guide or your spirit guide. The name of that feeling
or voice is not nearly as important as it is to learn how to trust that
knowingness.

Over time, we have pushed those gut feelings aside and discounted
the voices in our head nudging us in a direction. Instead, we chose
the logical route. But don’t worry, that inner voice is still there and
ready for you to pay attention.

Tuning into your inner voice and listening to the messages is the
first step in the search for your true self, your soul. It is the way
to find what you are seeking. It sounds too simple, but that’s the
beauty of it. You have all you need inside.

15
COSMIC WARRIOR

The first question people will ask is, “How will I know my inner
voice?” The easy answer is your inner voice will make feel
empowered and peaceful. However, the voice we typically listen
to is the ego.

The ego is fear based. It raises concerns and fears and gives you
reason to doubt. It makes you question yourself and drowns out
the inner voice.

Your inner voice will give you the courage and power to create the
life you are meant to live. When you practice techniques that help
quiet your mind, such as meditation, you will feel a sense of calm.
This makes it easier to hear your inner voice. Trust what your inner
voice says to you because its message is meant for you.

The best way to hear the inner voice is to make an effort to practice
listening. There are a few great ways to hone this skill, which often
include mindfulness techniques, being in nature, meditation, as
well as embracing a healthy lifestyle.

There is a good reason you should take care of your body. The body
and mind are linked. If you are conscious of your healthy eating,
then there is often a positive domino effect on the rest of your
lifestyle. Many believe that foods high in sugar, caffeine, or alcohol
trigger emotions which make it harder to quiet the mind and body.

When the body is cared for, the mind is relaxed. When you feel
calm, you are able to make good decisions. It makes sense that
healthy habits support the body and mind to hear the voice.

The inner voice will send messages all the time, but you need to be
open to receiving them. The more you are at peace, the easier it is
to see the signs and messages. In order to trust the messages, it is
important to let go of your need to control an outcome. By trusting

16
HOW TO CONNECT TO YOUR INNER VOICE

the messages, you are then more open to receiving them too. There
is method to this madness.

Keep in mind, the answers you want are not always the ones you
will receive. In other words, the answers you hear may not be what
you want to hear. Always remember, your inner voice comes from
love and will give you what you need.

The more you practice listening, the easier it becomes to differenti-

ate between your ego and your inner voice. If there are expectations
set then it is hard to hear the real messages. When predictions or
assumptions get in the mix then the information can get muddled.

17
EGO

The ego is often mistaken with the inner voice. There is a simple
way to recognize the ego. When you feel doubt or observe self-crit-
icism then it is the ego talking. It’s times when feel you aren’t up to
the challenge or unworthy.

When the ego is talking, it is all fear based. The ego may be rooted
in protection and might want to believe it is helping but don’t be
fooled. The ego wants to keep you from your true self.

The ego is strong and confident while the inner voice is soft. The
inner voice makes sense and feels right unlike the ego which can
cause doubt, worry, and anxiety.

If your goal is identifying your true self, the one you were born
to become, and not the one who is shaped by outside influences,
then the ego will not help you. Don’t let the ego get in the way of
discovering and unlocking your true potential and purpose.

The inner self at its core is nature. This means we are all connected.
We are connected to other people, but we are also connected to
Earth. Nature and one’s true self are integrated together. When you
find your true self, you are able to open up to your greatest gifts and
find what many describe to be authentic joy.

On the other hand, the ego is comparable to your past self, and it
brings up all the thoughts and actions that have weighed you down
and caused angst. The objective of the ego is to stand in the way of
finding one’s true purpose.

But how is the ego explained in simple terms? The ego is a collection
of thoughts, beliefs, and past experiences that define how a person
interacts in their life.

18
HOW TO CONNECT TO YOUR INNER VOICE

When one describes the ego, it is only in negative terms. But it’s
important to clarify that the ego is not in itself negative, but rather
it is the fear-based thoughts that are negative.

Let me break this down a little more. Thoughts are either negative
or positive. And the ego acts on the thoughts. The ego is the sum of
all the thoughts and beliefs over a lifetime and that is what makes
each person possess a unique ego.

Another interesting part to the ego is its ability to attach to parts of

our identity we want to be true. However, it can also generate some
pretty strong emotional reactions and then make us feel guilt over
the feelings it stirs up.

Too often we hear how we need to let go of the ego. When an ego is
made up of so many different aspects, it’s unlikely this separation
will happen easily or without a fight. But working on the process
of letting go of the thoughts cause us fear, sadness, or guilt is worth
the effort.

To let go of your ego, you will need to see the whole self. This
includes memories of happiness, pain, and past beliefs. Old pain
can be buried deep and ordinarily considered gone. And when we
call these pains back to the surface, it isn’t easy, and our instinct is
to keep them buried.

This is a common reason why many people give up on finding their

true self. It’s hard to bring back those old thoughts and feelings and
work through it enough to understand they are not real.

I don’t think we need to get rid of ego in order to become spiritual.

Rather, I see the ego as an important partner in the journey. We
shouldn’t limit ourselves to the ego. Alternatively, seek a balance
where spirit and ego work together.

19
COSMIC WARRIOR

The ego forms our identity. Each of us is unique, and no two

egos are the same because no two people have created the same
thoughts over their lifetimes. We are supposed to live our lives in
our own way and celebrate this purpose.

The ego is not bad, and it is not good. It just is what it is.

The best way I can describe the act of letting go of ego is simply to
surrender. Surrendering can also be explained as embracing all of
life. There are many ways one can surrender and these are a few
steps that have worked for me:

• Choose love
• Positive thinking
• Gratefulness

The three steps listed are nice ideas and hard to do. But when you
choose those, it means you are following your inner voice rather
than ego.

Surrendering the urge to resist makes the ego less driven to survive.
This may sound great and all, but it is really hard to do. You need
to actively remind yourself multiple times and maybe even all day
long, to stop resisting. Get out of your own way.

To surrender means releasing the thoughts, beliefs, and feelings

you once had. It’s your story you want to hold onto but you need
to let go. It’s who you believe you are or who you believe you are
supposed to be. It’s a naked feeling, and, I don’t know about you,
but I don’t like to be naked in public.

Writing instructions on how to surrender is easy. Yet, surrendering

is not easy and I don’t mean to make you feel like it will be. But if
you are reading this book then you are curious about how people
go about finding their purpose.

20
HOW TO CONNECT TO YOUR INNER VOICE

The way to find your purpose is to be more present and live more
intentionally. As you live more in the moment, you will see your
limiting beliefs fade, and your true self will become more clear.

21
LISTENING

How do I distinguish between the ego and the inner voice?

Listen.

I ask myself a question and listen to what my body tells me. The ego
and the inner voice give two distinctly different types of answers.
If I need to know the answer from the inner voice then I take a
deep breath and make a point to feel how my body responds to
the question.

It’s very clear if you are willing to listen. I call it my straightforward

test: If it’s not “Hell, Yes!” then it’s “Hell, No!”

The inner voice is your truth. It is soft and it is loving. Your inner
voice will push and nudge you, but it is not forceful.

I have found trust and patience to be the two keys to listening to

my inner voice. It can be tough to disregard logical thinking, but
that is what you need to do. I love logical thinking so this was a
huge hurdle for me.

Take a moment and think of times when you had that “knowing”
feeling. It’s referred to as a premonition. You no doubt ignored
it and laughed it off at the time, but it is common to have these
knowing sensations.

We have these knowing feelings all the time. And when you
acknowledge them it is means you are listening to your inner
voice. You give in, and it’s not because you were forced to or acted
because of fear. You felt a strong pull to recognize the message.
When you pay attention to the messages, it suggests you are no
longer resisting.

22
HOW TO CONNECT TO YOUR INNER VOICE

When I wanted to listen clearly, I chose to make time each day to

find quiet. I purposely slowed down and found a place to be still.
I later learned to meditate and used that to get into a state of con-
sciousness that allowed me to hear my inner voice.

There is more than one way to identify the messages. Everyone

has to find what works for them. Meditation is the most common
method people use for tuning in to their inner voice. Yet, the way
you choose to slow yourself down enough to hear is up to you.

Mindfulness a great way to genuinely listen. Being mindful is a way

to live in the present and take thoughtful action. In the beginning,
it is really hard to quiet your mind until you really slow down your
thoughts.

Your ego will constantly try to override the inner voice and it is hard
to differentiate at times. Remember the ego will bring up doubts or
unease. Choose the more positive messages.

Pay attention. Listen more. Separate the inner voice and take to
heart what you feel and hear. It may not make sense to anyone else
but if you are honest with yourself, you will know what it means.

If it is confusing to you, then be patient. Don’t force anything. Wait

for more signs to appear. The signs and messages will show up. You
might not be able to make sense of this right now and that is ok.

Stick with it.

When you listen and pay attention, you see messages that are
meant for you. Take a moment to assess how you feel when you
get a message. The message itself as well as your reaction matter.

23
TRUST

Trust your gut.

That’s the phrase most commonly used. It’s because your body tells
you things, and most of us feel it in our stomach or gut area. The
gut won’t lie to you.

Intuition comes from within. It’s not based in reasoning or any

action of the mind. The signals will be immediate and often a
reaction to a situation. The phrase “trust your gut” is simply
explaining that the body is giving you a sign that will guide you,
and it’s not necessary to overthink it or analyze it.

I have always wanted to make the right choice.

Here’s a simple exercise I do when I’m not sure what is the right
choice for me. I present both options and I measure how my body
reacts. This makes the decision clear to me.

How do I do this exactly? Well, I pose a question one way and see
how my body responds. And then I will pose the same question in
a slightly different way and notice how my body behaves.

If I get a light, expansive feeling then it is a “yes.” If I get a heavier,

contracting feeling that gives me pause, then it is a “no.” I believe
a “maybe” is the same as getting a “no.” Yes is always yes. I find
the answers have a weight to them, and the more you practice
with easier decisions, the more you get to know the “yes” and “no”
quicker.

So try this out when you don’t have a big decision to make. It could
be choosing between pancakes or waffles. Or make it about two
different shirts to wear. Tune into how your body reacts and learn

24
HOW TO CONNECT TO YOUR INNER VOICE

what a “yes” answer is and what a “no” answer is to you. This way,
when you want to use this technique in a slightly more important
question, you will understand the cues your body is giving you.

It is all about learning to trust yourself.

Your body has incredible wisdom. We get in the way of our body
signaling to us. Our expectations and hopes for an outcome may
dilute our judgment.

One good clue to remember is intuition will not explain itself. It

doesn’t need to offer a reason. It just shows the way.

When you hear your inner voice clearly, it becomes easier to trust
your intuition. We all have this built-in superpower, and it’s ready
to help us at any time.

When you feel you are going around in circles or over-analyzing,

take a moment to pause. You are getting in the way. It means you
are trying to control things, and it’s time to step aside.

Think less and feel more. That’s all there is to it.

Remember that your intuition is on your side. Don’t fight it.

Intuition is a combination of your emotions, logic, as well as your
spirit. Your body doesn’t lie to you.

As you practice with the simple decisions and learn how to differ-
entiate the reactions your body expresses, you can begin assessing
those answers when you have questions of more importance.

We are so distracted all the time. I know I am. But when I am able
to pay more attention, then I can feel what my body is telling me.
And you will be able to do this, too.

25
COSMIC WARRIOR

We can all access our intuition if we choose to be open to it.

Everyone has intuition. It’s a matter of trusting it that is the issue.

Put it this way, your intuition is you. When you grasp that concept,
you’ll be able to receive messages easier. You are your intuition.

Your soul uses intuition as a way of reaching you. It is a method

of communication. Take the baby steps to test it out, and feel the
answers. Stop second-guessing yourself.

The goal of tuning in to the inner voice, quieting the ego and
listening to what it is telling you, is to know that you can trust
yourself. Your inner voice is giving you the answers, and all you
have to do is listen to it, and then trust it.

Becoming more aware of your true self is just a matter of trust. Your
true self is trying to get your attention. It wants you to discover your
passions. But you won’t discover those passions until you trust in
what your inner voice is conveying.

I didn’t know that learning to trust in my inner voice would lead

me to find what would be my soul purpose. It wasn’t what I was
initially seeking. And maybe that isn’t your goal, either.

However, I fully believe that in order to get any clarity in our life we
need to pay attention, tune into what we are feeling, seeing, and
hearing. Take into account how our body reacts. Trust the message
you are receiving. The message may not be clear at that moment
but you will understand it more when you make that conscious
shift to actively listening.

26
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY
SPIRIT GUIDES

“Being spiritual has nothing to do with what you believe and

everything to do with your state of consciousness.”
–Eckhart Tolle

W hat is a spirit guide? I couldn’t find a definition that was

broadly accepted. I heard this term used regularly but
everyone had their own explanation. Yet, the only common thread
I found was there wasn’t a set definition, and I was free to come to
my own conclusion.

News flash: everything is subject to your own interpretation.

Eliminate the need to classify something as right or wrong. Decide
what you believe and stand by it.

I accepted that I was being guided. The existence of a spirit guide

may not make sense to everyone and I am not trying to change
someone’s mind with this book. This is my exploration.

It’s not easy for me to be vulnerable but it’s important to share all
of this as honestly as I can, so someone else can do the same. The
only way we can make sharing our experiences, feelings, or beliefs
more real is by peeling back our tough exteriors and be exposed.

The idea of a spirit guide was both fascinating and unnerving to

27
COSMIC WARRIOR

me. I wanted to meet my guide. I wanted to know my spirit guide.

Even though I was increasingly eager to find a way to communicate
with my guide, I was hesitating. Why?

The honest reason I hesitated was I was afraid. I was scared. I wasn’t
afraid of learning that there are these spirits, ghosts or angels, per
se. It wasn’t a fear of the unknown. I had a deep fear that when
I met my guide I would realize I wasn’t in control, and I was not
ready to lose control.

I believed my strength came from the control I had over my life. I

am really good at controlling my life, and what if I am not supposed
to control it? How can I be me?

I decided that there was no way forward until I learned about my

spirit guide. But how? How does someone meet their guide? It was
easier if I just told myself that it was too hard and give up.

After all, I had a great life. I was happy, married, a mom, and had
lots of friends. What was it I felt that I needed that I didn’t have?
Why would I go explore something so completely different from
me? I didn’t stop and question it this way at the time. I loved my
life, but I was sure that finding out about my spirit guide would
only enhance it.

And that is when my life shifted.

My kids both decided they wanted to go away to school. I knew they

were looking at this option but I wasn’t driving this idea. I wanted
to support them because this was brave of them to consider. Yet, I
didn’t want them to go away.

Just as many realize in their life, the thing we don’t want is often
what we need. My kids going away to school would become the
major shift my life needed. It’s not like they left to go away to

28
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

college. That is expected. Instead, my kids chose this in seventh

and eighth grade!

The normal chaos of life with kids in the house was the noise and
vibration I was used to hearing every day, all day. But with them
away at school, I didn’t have a regular mom routine: breakfast,
shuttling to school and sports, and all of the in-between hum that
was a steady presence in my life.

I knew my life would take on a slower pace with them gone but
I didn’t realize how quiet it would become. It is more than just
their physical presence being around. It was the noise in my head
thinking of all of the things to do around their life, including grocery
store, cleaning, and all of the time or energy I put into logistics and
planning ahead for anything that goes along with raising a kid. It’s
noisy in the house and in your head.

But with them gone it became quiet. I didn’t have their noise in the
house and I didn’t have the noise in my head that was associated
with them. My life became very quiet. And, to be perfectly honest,
at first it was nice but then it became kind of unnerving. I didn’t
know what I would do with all of this energy I had been using for
them.

Their courage to follow what they wanted became the inspira-

tion for me to grow. I couldn’t say no to them when they showed
courage to take a leap. But secretly I was scared about what I would
do with my life without carpool, soccer, and the network of friends
I made in the world of being their mom.

Their fearlessness gave me the confidence to try new things. It is

never too late. I decided to try anything that came into my heart
and soul and see where it led me. I wanted to find work that I could
be passionate about and make a living. I began focusing my energy

29
COSMIC WARRIOR

exploring ways to dive into the world of wellness since that is what
I was drawn to.

I immersed myself in many projects to build a wellness business.

I loved it. My desire to soak up everything about wellness and
integrate it into my life is what led me to where I am today. I didn’t
know at the time it would lead me to find my spirit guides, but
that’s exactly where I was being directed.

I followed all the signs without realizing I was picking up spirit

breadcrumbs. The seemingly random acts I followed led me to my
spirit guide. I believe not having a destination was helpful. I was
curious. Being interested opened me up to the world around me.

The research and investigations I poured myself into allowed me to

notice signs and listen to what my gut was telling me. The net I cast
to search for information was so wide that it allowed me to be open
to anything. It led me to meet my guide. My kids’ were following
their intuition and I took that to heart.

There are many things that would fall under the term “spirit,” per
se. I will keep that general term for the sake of this explanation.
Spirit guides are light and positive. They will offer you insight if you
are in the mood to listen.

I believe in spirit guides but I also believe our loved ones who have
passed also send us messages. When my stepdad passed two years
ago, my mom believed he was a cardinal. She would say hello to the
red cardinal that would fly by and recognize that as Don. It made
her feel good and we all would then acknowledge the cardinal, too.

A year later, my mom passed away. For a while, we would say hi to

her if we saw a cardinal, too. We thought they were both cardinals.
I later learned that my mom is sending me messages with white

30
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

feathers. It’s too long of a story to explain how I know this to be true
and gets me off track here. The point I want to make is that we can
get messages from spirit guides, as well as loved ones. They want
to let us know we are loved and we are not alone.

From what I’ve come to understand, spirit guides want to help us.
They are loving and meant to protect us. Mine makes me laugh a
lot. The timing or the position of the sign is often funny. I’ll be in the
middle of a conversation and the topic I’m discussing becomes a
lyric in a song I have playing on the radio. Or it might be the name
of a street I’m on has meaning to me from childhood. Or often
repeated numbers are being shown to me in odd locations.

The first step in connecting to your spirit guides is to make the

commitment to find a sense of quiet within yourself and learn to
listen. Trust what you feel, see, hear, or instinctively know. Believe.

I was first introduced to my spirit guide by a woman who is a gifted

medium. She taught me some skills that worked for me. I think
everyone has their own style they prefer. I learned how to call on
mine through meditation.

I didn’t see or feel them right away. I didn’t feel anything the first
time. It took a while to feel them and sense them. I remember my
first meditation when I asked my guide to step forward. I didn’t get
any response. Zippo.

I was bummed. I so wanted it to work right away. I tried again and

still nothing. I was doing all the things exactly like I was supposed
to—or so I thought.

Turns out that even though I told myself I wanted this, I was
blocking any connection. I was resisting. I needed to let go of the
doubt in my head and be open-minded. So even if you think you

31
COSMIC WARRIOR

don’t have doubt and feel really open to something, you might still
be holding onto deeper fears that will hinder your progress.

What I now know is that it takes an open mind and a real desire to
connect. My mind was probably still skeptical when I started, and
it wasn’t until I released my fear and hesitation that I was able to
connect.

It took me many, many different times of calling in my spirit guide

until I fully saw and felt who it was. For me, this was an important
step I needed to take but others may not need to know their guide.
But I wanted you to know it’s possible.

I was so relieved the day I finally met my spirit guide. He is a strong

warrior. He is my protector and my biggest cheerleader. I thought
learning the identity was all I needed. Little did I know, that was
just my beginning.

The easiest way I find to connect to my guides is through writing.

I will do a meditation, and afterward, I will ask myself a question
which prompts me to start writing. Or if there isn’t a specific
question that comes to mind, I just write anything that comes into
my head. It just flows. Since I have always loved writing, I can tell
when the voice that comes through on the paper is my guide.

Spirit guides want to nudge us and help us find solutions. Spirit is

not going to feed the fear in our head. You’ll notice that Spirit illu-
minates opportunities that we may or may not notice. Spirit shows
us the options and it is up to us to seize them.

We still have free will. We still have that control. If we aren’t ready
for the nudge or if we don’t want to do something then there is
nothing to make you. Just know that Spirit guides won’t give up on

32
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

you. A spirit guide is there for you and this will make sense to you
when you are ready.

Your spirit guides want you to call them forward and ask for
assistance. Their clues are either to let you know they are around
or there could be clues to help solve a problem you are working
through.

When a guide provides signs, it is good to take note of them. I have

come to realize that the more you acknowledge the signs the more
they will appear. Another thing to keep in mind is the guide wants
you to not only recognize the signs but also give them credit.

In short, thank your guides when you recognize a sign. It sounds

corny, but they are all love, and I truly believe that you should
return the love. Be grateful for the help and send them love in
return.

To recap, if you want to know your spirit guides, be open-minded,

and be direct. Ask them to step forward. If you sincerely ask them
for help, they will find a way to offer assistance. You may not get
the help in the way you expect but they are sending you direction.

If you have a question, then write it down. Then call in your guide.
This still may seem awkward so I’ll explain a little further. Set an
intention, be present, open and ask your guide to come forward to
provide you help. Be clear.

Then say in your head or feel free to say it out loud, “Thank you,
guides of light for coming forth and bringing solutions.”

Note: you can ask for help with anything.

Phrase the request to that specific need. For example, “Thank you,
guides of light for help with my money problems.” This phrase

33
COSMIC WARRIOR

might be too strange to you so make it sound more like you. Craft
it in a way that you feel comfortable saying.

Say this daily, and then keep your eyes, ears, and heart open for
any signs.

Know that you can call on your guides at any time. They are always
around. The simple act of asking is the essential ingredient to call
your guide forward.

Don’t be surprised by their humor. Guides are funny and want to

play. You can also ask for a sign that means something to you, and
that can become the way you then communicate. But there will be
signs that are directed to you for a reason that will make sense if
you take into account how you felt when you noticed it.

If you want to pick a sign to use, then consider something

uncommon. Consider an animal, a number sequence, or maybe
an object. If you live near the beach, it doesn’t make sense to ask
for a fish or a beach chair or something you would see all the time.
Instead, ask for a cow. You won’t see a cow walking down the
beach, but you might see a picture of a cow on a book someone
is reading on the beach, or you might see the words “cow” on a
product. It can show up in many ways.

Pay attention. It can be anything. When you see the sign, it is

actually guidance you are receiving. There is a message in it. The
guides work in ways you won’t expect. It could come through in
a song, in the name of a person you meet, or random things you
notice at a grocery store.

Signs are everywhere. At the risk of being painfully obvious, the

best way to see signs is to pay attention. Observe more. Feel your
surroundings with your eyes and ears. You’ll notice the signs.

34
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

The three steps I take to connect with my guides are:

1. Ask them to step forward

2. Accept their help
3. Thank them for their guidance

Being grateful is what I believe to be the core of understanding the

spiritual world. Thanking them for their help is an important and
critical component. Your authenticity matters.

It’s worth mentioning again that the answers you receive may not
be the ones you want. You may feel you don’t see any signs if you
happen to be looking for a specific answer. You may not realize you
are doing this. You can even tell yourself that you are not expecting
a certain sign. But if you feel your spirit guide is not communicat-
ing with you then it might be you are looking for a special reply.
Take a step back and release your expectations.

Relax and trust there is a plan. When you release the need to control
everything, then the guides will be freer to show you more. You will
retain your free will. But free will doesn’t mean you can control the
messages that come through. Free will means you decide if you
wish to take action.

35
MEDITATION
I was hesitant to meditate. I firmly believed that I would not be able
to do it properly. How was I supposed to quiet my mind to do it
right? I was struggling with the idea that I needed to do it correctly,
and getting past that was my first hurdle.

I knew I needed to get out of my own way. Meditation is not

supposed to be regarded as something you can do correctly or for
that matter, incorrectly. I was holding myself back. Even when I
am aware of them, my thoughts continually raise doubts. And I
know they always will. But I’ve become more aware of my thoughts,
which is why I am able to override them and any other blocks that
get in the way.

Meditation is a common word and one we all likely have come

across. But it is loosely defined and often misunderstood. So, what
is meditation?

In a nutshell, meditation is a way we train our mind to be at peace.

If our mind is able to become peaceful, then our worries can fall
away and allow room for joy.

That all sounds great, but how do we do this when we are so busy?
It’s hard to find a few minutes alone some days, let alone meditate.
The easy answer is you commit to finding the time to practice
turning inwards.

I used to think meditation was too hard for me to do. Turns out
that isn’t true. Meditation in itself is not hard. It doesn’t require a
strenuous, physical action, nor does it deprive me. And meditation
doesn’t come with a lot of rules to remember. So why do we think
it’s hard to meditate?

36
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

I believed meditation was too hard because I didn’t want to be

someone who meditated. I didn’t want to be “woo-woo.” And,
I didn’t want to be still. All of those preconceived judgments I
created would serve me well when I was out of my element.

I could pretend it was too hard for me yet the hard part was
admitting I was scared. Plus, I believed being still or quiet meant I
was not being productive. The idea of sitting around doing nothing,
or what I imagined was doing nothing, was a waste of my time. That
was my original theory on meditation.

Today, I admit I’ve made a reversal in my attitude. Now, the idea

of being in a quiet state and finding inner peace is a treasured
moment I give myself.

Meditation has taught me that the answers are within each of us;
therefore, the way to find answers is to go inwards. Meditation is
a tool to get to the place where the answers can be found. Using
meditation is open to anyone and can be practiced at any time.

I personally prefer guided meditations. They are easier for me to

process, and I can then settle myself and become relaxed. But you
will know what format suits you best. Follow that instinct. As with
everything, do what feels right to you.

The way one meditates is also subjective. I like to meditate with my

eyes closed and in an area away from others. I haven’t been able
to find a way to ignore outside distractions easily, but one day I
hope to be able to meditate anywhere. My inclination is to practice
alone, in a quiet spot.

37
COSMIC WARRIOR

What I have come to learn, there are three things to consider in

meditation:

• Control your breath

• Control the movements of your body
• Focus your attention

I don’t want to explain how to meditate because I want you to

experiment and find what works for you. It’s a personal choice.
I often use meditation apps. They are simple to use and have a
wide selection of options to choose from. And my kids use them
often, too.

Again, I don’t want to pitch a certain way to mediate. I can only

speak for myself in the shift I have made since learning to meditate
and how it has made a huge impact in my ability to understand my
spiritual gifts.

I heard this explanation one day and it stuck with me: meditation
helps us to slow down and wake up.

When we purposely quiet the mind, it can transform the way we

view our own life, as well as the world around us. My favorite
reason to meditate is to clear all the noise that is inside my head.
While our reasons for practicing meditation may differ, I believe
we all achieve great benefit it.

My experience with meditation has been a game changer. It has

surpassed what anyone has ever told me it could offer me. The
more time I devote to meditation, the easier it has become to tune
in.

38
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

Meditation has given me a better sense of my real identity. In that

sense, I credit meditation for the clarity I feel about the life I want
to live. I didn’t realize I was weighed down with fear or worry. In
fact, I would not have described myself that way at all. But through
meditation, I uncovered deep-rooted fears and worries that were
limiting me. And now I feel freer.

It is hard for me to contain my enthusiasm for all that meditation

can offer absolutely everyone. It’s funny to me that my strident
belief that I was unable to meditate could not have been more
wrong. It makes me realize that sometimes if I protest too much, it
is actually the underlying fear rather than the reason I am giving.

Something that is free to everyone, available anywhere, and

anytime has the ability to make our world brighter. If only everyone
would give it a try.

39
CHAKRAS

When I came across people discussing chakras, I felt really out of

the loop. It seemed to be a topic I was supposed to know but I was
at a loss. Since I felt everyone already knew what in the world a
chakra was, I was too embarrassed to ask.

Well, if you are feeling this way, then here is my quick guide on
chakras. Once you read this chapter, you can be part of the “cool”
group. In fact, on many occasions, I would pretend I knew what
people meant when they said a chakra was blocked. I’d nod in
agreement and act like I understood. But I had no idea.

I wanted to know what they were talking about and then it struck
me that I should find out if I had any blocked chakras. Did that
hurt? Was it bad? I didn’t even know what a chakra was but I knew
for certain I didn’t want mine blocked.

I shouldn’t have been so hard on myself for being a little lost. It’s
not like we learn about chakras in high school. But it sure felt like
everyone around me was clued in. And that is the feeling I want to
keep others from experiencing.

To give a brief explanation, the word chakra is Sanskrit—heads up,

Sanskrit is an ancient language from India—and chakra means a
wheel, or basically, a disk that is connected to an energy center of
the body.

Chakras are linked to specific organs in the body. They also

correspond to physical, emotional, and psychological aspects, too.
If the chakras are blocked then it is believed that illness or disease
can develop. I knew I didn’t want mine blocked. But I still didn’t
know what that meant.

40
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

Chakra is about energy flow. When they are blocked, a part of the
body is stagnant. Chakras are the centers for the energy in our
body. There are a total of 114 different ones. But don’t worry, most
people only refer to seven of them, so that is what I’ll focus on.

The seven chakras are described by starting from the bottom (root)
and moving up to the top (crown).

The 7 chakras are:

• Root
• Sacral
• Solar plexus
• Heart
• Throat
• Third-eye
• Crown

Root
This first chakra is the foundation and located at the base of the
spine. It is the color red and often associated with both security
and survival. It makes sense because when you think about what
is needed for survival it could be food, shelter, or water. Financial
independence is important.

You can feel physical issues, such as anxiety or maybe a nightmare,

when this chakra is blocked. Other physical clues to notice when
the root chakra is closed or needs to be opened is when you have
constipation or lower back pain.

41
COSMIC WARRIOR

Sacral
This chakra is near the pubic bone and a little below the belly
button. It is the color orange and connected to our creative and
sexual energies. This element it is commonly associated with water.
It should be pretty clear if this is open because your feelings of
passion, or desires are more freely expressed.

If you are feeling kind of flat or dull, then it might be blocked. When
it is blocked, feeling uninspired or fearing change can present itself.

Solar plexus
The third chakra is yellow and the source of our individual power.
Being in control and having self-worth are key. You’ll find this
between the navel and the ribs.

When you are having trouble making a decision or your self-esteem

is low then it could be blocked. The stomach is a great signal-maker
for us. Digestion issues can indicate we need to give some attention
to this chakra.

Heart
The fourth chakra is not surprisingly located at the center of the
chest and symbolizes our connection to the physical and the
spiritual. It is a green color and encompasses all love. This is more
about our ability to love and also to accept love. When it is open, it
is easier to forgive. The color green symbolizes this chakra.

Anger, jealousy, or grudges are clues it is blocked. This energy is not

good for anyone’s heart, so it is important to keep this chakra open.

Throat
The color blue symbolizes the fifth chakra. Communication is the
main description. It means you are able to speak your truth and

42
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

not hold back. Do you ever feel like you want to say something but
hesitate because you are scared or maybe unsure of how to express
yourself so you stay quiet? That means you need to focus on this
chakra and open it up.

This chakra is associated with the mouth, thyroid, or neck. When it

is open you feel you can speak clearly as well as listen with an open
mind. Often, fear of judgment will keep you from speaking and this
can give you a sore throat, stiff neck, or headaches.

The top three chakras are also known as the spiritual chakras. The
lower ones are more physical in nature.

Third-eye
The sixth chakra is found between the eyebrows and is an indigo
color. This chakra is the gateway to our intuition. Our eyes, pituitary
glands, and the brain are the parts of the body connected with the
third eye. When it’s open, then it’s easier to see the big picture.

When this chakra is open, I find it easier to trust my inner voice.

When it’s blocked, then you might feel a little dizzy, or you feel you
are becoming judgmental.

Crown
The seventh chakra is a violet color and positioned at the crown of
the head. It is the connection to source. When this chakra is open,
there is a more blissful feeling overall.

If you are experiencing anxiety or worry about being alone or dis-

connected, it’s an indicator this chakra could be blocked.

Why does any of this matter? The quick answer is because we need
the energy in our body to be able to flow freely and naturally. When

43
COSMIC WARRIOR

they are open, we feel better. We are more stable, our emotions are
steady, and we are happier.

The whole universe is a big radiating energy field. Our physical

body works well when the chakras are open. When there is a block,
we understand this through clues from physical or emotional
issues.

Think of chakras as balls of energy, moved by spinning, whirring

blades of a fan through the different channels of the body. You
can’t see them with your eyes. They not only correspond to parts
of our body, but they connect with our consciousness. They play a
role in how we perceive ourselves.

The opening and closing of our chakras is a cool defense

mechanism. They are important to our healing because it is a key
connector to the endocrine gland and the nervous system in our
body.

There isn’t an actual order of superiority when it comes to chakras.

Each has a meaningful part to play. Keeping them in balance is
the ultimate goal. Don’t wait for your body to send you a distress
signal. Instead, take preventative measures in your health and clue
into the chakras.

44
AURAS

I thought aura was just a fun way to explain a person’s personality.

I didn’t realize it was truly something one could see and feel. Our
aura is an indicator of our personality, but it’s so much more.

An aura is the quality of energy that surrounds us. It is the electro-

magnetic field that surrounds the body. Imagine an egg-shaped
ball that covers you and is pure energy. An aura can be made up
of various colors and range in intensity. The aura combines the
mind, body, and soul. It is our true self expressed as a colorful mix
of energy.

There are seven layers to auras that also correspond to the seven
chakras. Imagine an aura as an energy skin which protects our
energy system.

The seven layers:

1. Physical is closest to the body and connected to physical

health
2. Emotional layer is three inches away from the body
3. Mental is three to eight inches away and related to the ego
and beliefs
4. Astral is the love layer and related to the heart chakra
5. Manifestation layer connects to the universe
6. Celestial layer is intuition and connected to the third-eye
7. Ketheric template is the “I Am” layer and is three feet away
and connects to the divine

45
COSMIC WARRIOR

It takes psychic abilities to see aura colors. But remember, we all

have these abilities, and it is up to us to learn to use them.

There is a lot of meaning behind the colors of the aura. They reveal
one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual health. The intensity of a
color or the sharpness in it express other factors.

The colors of an aura can explain how a person is feeling at that

particular time. It would then make sense that colors can change
as the person’s feelings change. Any issue you are experiencing
in your external life was created first as an internal, energetic
problem.

If you put your attention and focus into your energy field, you can
change your life. Simply put, you can heal your problems if you go
to the energy field.

The different colors of an aura have a purpose for both chakras

and auras. Our eyes pick up colors and then our brain interprets
them. Auras give off a frequency that is detected by sight, sound,
or feel. Our clairvoyance skills help us to see the colors and their
brightness. We can use clairaudience to hear the tone and sound
vibrations. And we also use our sense of feeling, our clairsentience,
to pick up the temperature and conditions.

Picking up the colors and energy of an aura is key to understand-

ing another person. When you can see another person’s aura, it’s
almost like seeing another person’s thoughts. Their stress, anxiety,
as well as their honesty, can be detected. You can’t fake an aura.

Auras can reveal intentions. A person’s negative energy, as well

as their insecurities, are exposed. It is possible to pick up on their
motives by tuning into their aura.

Remember that one’s aura changes with their feelings and

emotions. Therefore, maintain an open mind when observing and
identifying someone’s aura. It will adjust and change as that person
grows.

AKASHIC RECORDS
“Important encounters are planned by the souls long before the
bodies see each other.”
–Paulo Coelho

Akashic Records are kind of confusing because it’s information

about a lifetime stored in the Akashic field. Each soul has its own
Akashic Records. This can be described as a series of books, full of
details of our past life, present life, and sometimes our future life.
In plain terms, these records are not tangible but are accessed in a
higher realm of consciousness.

The Akashic Records are a summary of all human events, thoughts,

words, emotions, and intent ever to have occurred in the past,
present, or future.

Akashic is another Sanskrit word. It means ether. The way I make

sense of it is to conclude that Akashic surrounds us.

Confused? I think this is one of the harder concepts to grasp at first.

I didn’t fully understand what this meant until I was led on a

guided meditation to my own Akashic Records. I was put in a
deep meditation and then directed to access my own records. It
isn’t necessarily that simple. In fact, I have come to appreciate the
importance of a skilled guide.

The few times I have been guided to access my records I received

incredibly vivid and insightful messages. It is one of those things
that days later, sometimes even weeks late. I still recall details that
were uncovered. It brought up some interesting explanations for
my life that I think would have only been brought up this way.

50
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

Akasha has been the best self-reflection for me. I feel I know
myself better and possibly understand why I made some of my
own decisions.

This is an opportunity to encounter anything we experienced in all

of our prior lifetimes and also limitless opportunities for our future.
It’s not possible to access all of it. That would be too much for us to
take in. So, we are only given what we need at that time. And what
comes through is meant to support you.

While many wish they could access all the information since it
is essentially their records, I am happy to not be able to gain all
the information. I believe not knowing allows more flexibility and
more room for curiosity, creativity, and ingenuity.

The Akashic Records don’t lay out the plan we need to put into
place. It’s more the information that comes through is what we
need to take the next step. How we interpret it is up to us.

I strongly suggest working with a guide to accessing your Akashic

Records. There are many talented instructors to choose from. You
will get more out of the experience if you feel comfortable with the
person leading you. And a skilled instructor can help you through
it, so you are comfortable trusting the process.

You don’t need any special psychic abilities. I feel the only thing
that is truly needed is listening with as much feeling and emotion
as possible. The reason this matters is that the knowledge you
receive is through feeling in your gut. It’s intuitive.

As you learn how this process works, you may find ways to do
this on your own. The meditative state has become a way for me
to utilize my own intuition to access the records. And the more I
practice this, the more I am able to hone my intuitive skills, too.

51
COSMIC WARRIOR

There are two key elements to the records. One is permanent and
the other is evolving. The permanent part is what would be used to
explain the soul’s purpose. It’s the pattern of our soul. The evolving
part is the main catalog of the lifetimes lived and we can draw
ideas from in order to live our full potential. The evolving part is
the stories of our soul’s adventure.

The Akasha is the realm of consciousness where we are available for

the direction or any instruction that can empower us to continue
on our own path.

The messages we learn when we access the Akashic Records are

meant to be a resource. It can offer insight into things that you
might be questioning at the time. The insight can also help anyone
who is looking to discover their purpose. It can help in countless
ways and that is why it’s an incredibly useful tool to use while you
become who you are meant to be.

Even though everything is in the records, it does not mean we

can access everything. Instead, what we need at that time is what
comes through. It’s in our own best interest that we can’t access it
all at once. It would be too much for us to handle.

Accessing the Akashic Records can be very healing. They point out
things like karma, our patterns, or blocks that can all be traced to
past lives. Sometimes this is a lesson we still need to learn and
therefore is for our future self.

An open mind is needed but so is going in without a preconceived

idea or hope for what will come through. Allow the information
to present itself, and trust that it is what you need to know at that
particular time.

The information that comes through might be vague. Reflect on

52
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

what that means to you. Honestly ask yourself what it means. It

provides the impetus to make a change and can steer us towards
other opportunities where we can grow.

The healing is as powerful as you choose to make it. It can help us

to overcome obstacles in order to live our fullest life. And when
we break down the blocks that we feel are in our way, it opens
up a path. The objective of accessing the Akashic Records is to
find peace and balance. The wisdom and insight learned become
dynamic tools at our disposal. And it is up to us how we choose to
apply them.

53
DREAMS

I had vivid dreams as a kid, but as an adult, I don’t recall them

as much. So I started to believe I didn’t have dreams anymore.
But that’s not true. We all dream. And we can retrain ourselves to
remember them.

A common way to define dreams could be thoughts and images

that happen when we sleep. Why we have these dreams is inter-
preted by us after the fact. But to understand what messages, these
dreams are trying to tell us, it is important to learn the symbols and
language.

Dreams use metaphors and symbols that are illustrative of a bigger

message. They can be exaggerated, and this is meant to trigger
urgency. If we clearly see images we recognize in a dream, those
are not necessarily the message. Instead, they are often represen-
tative of another meaning.

If you keep dreaming of walking with a dog somewhere, and you

can see this dog perfectly and describe it in detail, that dream
might not be a message that you need to get a dog. It could possibly
be your desire to find a trusted friend. It’s often not so clear-cut.

Dreams can either answer a question or they can pose one. The
dreamer is the one who can assess this best. And it is the dreamer
who should interpret them, too.

You may be tempted to investigate what your dream could mean

on the internet but I urge you to hesitate before you do that.
Instead, write it down and then take a moment to think what that
feels like to you or might mean to you. How your body reacts and
the emotions that are stirred tell you the answer.

54
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

Explaining the meaning of dreams is difficult because it could

mean the path one should consider, it could signal something to
avoid, or the dream might reveal clues about a future event.

Are dreams messages from spirit?

There is reason to believe that spirit is trying to show you the

direction to take or urge you to do something. I feel recurrent
dreams are nudges by spirit to take pause and assess a situation.
If you have a dream over and over, think about what it could be
saying you need to deal with in your life. Do you need to make
a decision, or are you struggling with a transition in your job, or
possibly it involves your love life?

There are dreams that are thought to predict the future. They are
called precognitive dreams. Are they a sixth sense, or are they just
expressing our deepest hopes or fears?

A precognitive dream is designed to help you. It could be intuition

stepping in to prepare you, or it might be a warning for you. Either
way, I believe it is spirit trying to get your attention. The reason may
not be clear, but if you step back and take look at the dream, then
you may see the symbolic nature of it.

These are some of the most common dreams and suggested

meanings but again, you are the best judge of the meaning:

• Being chased - avoid issues in your life

• Falling - loss of control (job, finances, marriage)
• Naked - insecure, shame
• Failing exams - anxiety of not living up to expectations
• Think you woke up but didn’t - worried about the day ahead
• Snake - temptation or could be you are being threatened

55
COSMIC WARRIOR

• Flying - happy, excited

• Can’t run - low self-esteem, lack confidence
• Dream of the dead - negative people are influencing you
• Murder - commit one = repressed anger; witness = anger
towards someone; are murdered = relationship is severed.

Dreams come from within. I started keeping a dream journal

because I would forget them. I remembered them but after I
brushed my teeth, I swear I no longer could recall anything about
the dream. It was so strange how quickly it vanished. So, I started
the journal and it has retrained my brain to remember the dreams
longer.

The very moment I wake up, I think of what I was just dreaming. It
might not be a full story but whatever I think of right then I quickly
jot down. I can then go brush teeth and go about my day. But I have
the gist of it recorded.

It could be one tiny detail, or I might remember a lot of the

dream. But I know that if I wait until I brush teeth or go to the
bathroom, then that dream is gone. I don’t know why I wasn’t able
to remember it for a few more minutes, but it just left me.

If I couldn’t remember the dreams, then I couldn’t piece together

the messages from spirit. If you have trouble recalling your dreams
or you feel you no longer dream, then try the journal. It could work
for you, too.

As you write your dreams down, you might start to see how they
connect and see a thread that gives you a new perspective. This
may not happen right away. All for some time to collect details
and don’t force it. You will learn the messages and it will start to
make sense.

56
WAYS I MEET AND COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPIRIT GUIDES

Trust your intuition and how you feel. Spirit is sending messages
and leaving clues meant just for you. When you listen to your gut,
pay close attention to how your body reacts, then you will sense
the meaning of the dreams and it will become clear.

57
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

“There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth:
Not going all the way, and Not starting.”
–Buddha

S piritual psychic tools are pretty fun. The first tool I tried was
oracle cards. They are an easy entry. At the beginning, I routinely
drew a card first thing each morning and then wrote in a journal
about the card before I did anything else. I practiced each day. I
wanted to be free from any distractions in order to concentrate
fully. And it became a great way to start my day.

Oracle cards raised my intuitive game. Truthfully, I was not sure I

would be able to feel or sense things from the cards. I had doubts
about my intuitive skills. But regularly using oracle cards dissolved
this self-doubt as I saw each day how accurately I intuitively sensed
the cards.

I learned quickly that I could pick up on vibrations, colors, or

feelings. I kept a journal mostly because I wanted to look back and
see if I was making progress. I would shuffle the deck, pick a card,
then feel it between my palms before I would turn it over.

There were days when it was so clear and I saw and felt it completely.
But there were also days when I didn’t have as great of a sensation.
We need to have both experiences. This regular practice allowed

59
COSMIC WARRIOR

me to evaluate all the factors of the days that I was tuned in and
the days that I felt off.

The best thing I learned from oracle cards was to trust my intuition.
It eased any self-doubts and built my confidence. And it showed
me so clearly that when I let self-doubt creep into my head, it
clouded everything. I now fully believe in my abilities.

I feel like I say this over and over but it is so important: keep an
open mind. Don’t let your mind wander and bring in doubt. It can
get ahead of you and even influence with a wish or need. Rather,
release all of that and go with your feelings. You may see, hear or
just feel something. As you rely on your emotional connection, you
can learn to use your intuition.

Psychics will use tools to connect the physical world to the cosmic
world. It’s common to use many tools, but there is usually one
that is favored. You may be drawn to a specific tool right away,
so go with that feeling. But have fun and try many of them. I am
confident you can call on many psychic abilities if you choose to
strengthen them.

Understand that a tool is simply a portal. Psychics have natural

abilities. When I use the word, tool, I am suggesting they are useful
in reinforcing our own natural skills. But they are not necessary to
use psychic talents. Essentially, psychics use these tools in their
readings to connect with spirit guides, but they don’t need them.

In case you are confused, I feel it’s good to highlight the differences
between a psychic, a medium, and an intuitive. They are not the
same.

In short, a psychic can receive messages. A medium is a portal for

60
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

messages from those who have crossed over. An intuitive is using

the communication you are receiving for yourself.

So if we don’t need the tools, why should we learn them? I believe

it’s the way to heighten the experience. It can reinforce the clues
you understand and give you certainty. And they can boost your
confidence as you learn to listen to your inner voice.

Each tool has its limitations. To get the most out of a tool, I suggest
you determine what you want from that tool. What are your goals
in using them? Don’t force it. While spiritual tools are amazing, I
find it necessary to mention, once again, that they are not needed
to tap into your spiritual gifts.

My confidence grew quickly with the use of these tools. It wasn’t

until much later that I fully appreciated that I was already a psychic.
You don’t need to go through lots of training with these tools to get
to that conclusion. I want to stress this point: we all are psychic.

The greatest tool of all we can use is surrendering. When I

understood I was already psychic, I then focused my attention on
using the tools to become my psychic self. That is, fundamentally,
all you need to do as well.

TAROT CARDS

Tarot cards are straight up full of information and easy to read.

It is not a carnival scam nor is it reserved only for some special
“woo-woo” lady. I used to believe it was a way to swindle money
out of people and give them false information. But after working
with them, I am a believer and love the cards. And the coolest part
is anyone can buy a set of Tarot cards and begin working with them
right away.

Everyone can read Tarot and learn the symbolism of the cards. It
doesn’t take any special intuitive ability to grasp the nuances. It is
a good idea to check out the guidebook that comes with the deck
and decipher some of the author’s intentions.

But use it as a guidebook and not a rule book. The reader plays a
huge role in the meaning of the cards. And the more you practice
and dig into the meaning of each the cards, the more assurance
you feel about what the cards are explaining.

The Tarot is a tool to use for a quick answer. The cards commu-
nicate a simple, thoughtful assessment into a problem you are
looking to solve. The card is subject to your interpretation, though.

The Tarot isn’t about predicting a future outcome. Instead, Tarot

is meant to access your intuition. Ultimately, it’s another way to
manifest one’s true goals.

It facilitates the stripping away of the story we tell ourselves. When

we read Tarot, it offers us a chance to listen honestly to what our
soul is telling us. Depending on how truthfully one is willing to
look within, there could be a lot of significance that can be used
for understanding one’s purpose.

62
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

That is pretty deep, I know. But seriously, when you use them, it can
be transformative. Tarot assists us in many ways. It is good to use
when needing an answer to a current situation or when we look for
our soul’s purpose. That range makes the cards fun and valuable.

Everyone has their own way of caring for the cards. You may hear
there are certain protocols to follow but it’s not that strict. In fact,
it’s arbitrary.

Some people choose to protect them, and will not let others touch
their cards. There will always be people who fear energy from
another person to penetrate and affect their cards. While other
people will use the cards over and over until they are worn and
ragged.

Let me break down the nuts and bolts of Tarot. A deck of Tarot
consists of 78 cards. They include keywords, symbolism, as well
as stories that are all weaved into each card through detailed
pictures. While it is helpful to learn the meaning of each card, I
want to stress that the reader’s interpretation of the card’s meaning
is what matters most.

Tarot needs you to access your intuition to derive the meaning that
will resonate with you the most. You can read the guidebook of the
deck but that is secondary. What you derive from the card is the
message you need.

Are you noticing a theme yet? Listen to your inner voice, tune into
your feelings, and trust your intuition. You have the answers within.

The decks are broken down into 22 Major Arcana cards. Think
of these as karma’s life lessons. They illustrate some stages we
reach on our path of self-awareness. They are considered pretty
important cards in the deck. They are connected to the essence of
the soul.

63
COSMIC WARRIOR

The 52 Minor Arcana cards bring to life our daily struggles. Don’t
worry if you see this card in your draw because these problems are
the temporary ones. Or they could be pointing to something that
was recently overcome. It’s not always something in the present or
future. These cards can provide a footnote to that situation.

I don’t want to make this even more confusing, but the Minor
Arcana cards contain 16 Tarot Court Cards, which depict our per-
sonality. Sure, we may have more than 16 personalities we could
show the world, but consider these the 16 Tarot highlights.

The 40 numbered cards are organized according to 4 suits: Cups,

Pentacles, Swords, and Wands. You guessed it — 10 cards per suit.
Our personality is interpreted by the court cards. The numbered
cards interpret the situation we are facing.

Spiritual lessons are often illuminated by the cards. The cards can
instruct us to listen. I was taught to see the cards as a mirror our
soul. And we should use the cards to go deeper into our subcon-
scious for the answers. Cards can trigger us to face hidden truths
and uncover some deep feelings. When we take a sincere consid-
eration of the messages in the cards, we can we deal with those
truths.

Tarot cards are rich in history, and that part is fascinating to me.
There is so much to each card thus, a deck, that it takes a while to
learn the nitty-gritty. And I kind of geek out when it comes to the
details.

64
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

What does Major Arcana mean?

Major Arcana Tarot

These uncover the big spiritual lessons or the major karmic
influences. They include 21 numbered cards and 1 unnumbered,
which is The Fool.

If you get a Major Arcana Card in a reading, take note of the life
lesson or theme that is being experienced at the time.

If you get mostly Major Arcana Cards in a reading, you could be in

the midst of a big, life-changing moment, and it’s an indication to
pay attention.

What do the Suits represent?

Minor Arcana Swords

The Suit of Swords reveals our thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs. If
you think about it, swords are double-edged and could represent
the good and the evil sides of your thoughts.

Swords are balanced with Wands and Cups to gain the most
positive influence.

Swords are linked to the element of Air. Air is always in motion

yet is not seen. Air uses its power to be felt. Air is often refreshing.
However, air quality is more concerned about its power of change
without being noticed or actually seen.

If you get Swords, then it is a call to take action, make a change, or

be courageous. But be careful because action is both good and bad.

The Swords also defines our negative emotions, such as guilt or

anger.

65
COSMIC WARRIOR

When there are mostly Swords, it signals there is a decision to be

made.

Minor Arcana Cups

The Suit of Cups interprets emotions, such as love, feelings, and
those about a relationship. Cups analyze the heart. When you see
Cups, it points out you are using your heart instead of your head.
You will notice this when you are spontaneous or have a vivid
imagination.

Cups can also signal you are being overly emotional or falling into
fantasy instead of staying in reality. Cups want you to ask yourself
if you have trouble expressing yourself.

When Cups are prominent in a reading, it is a flag to examine your

emotions and try to get to the root of how you view love. When you
have Cups in your reading, it is a good time to evaluate your hopes,
dreams, passions, and your love life.

Minor Arcana Pentacles

The Suit of Pentacles reflects our work life and our finances. These
cards express how we handle situations, how we fix problems, or
how are responsible for our conditions. One’s self-esteem is all tied
up in Pentacles.

Pentacles are related to Earth. Think of these cards as a foundation

or support system. Earth is considered the main grounding force
that the feminine energy uses to sustain all of life.

Pentacles are the material possessions we covet. They are the

things we put our energy into and build upon. They could be our
work or our home.

In short, Pentacles imply our greed. When Pentacles are drawn,

66
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

consider it a good time to get grounded and figure out what is truly
important.

If there are a lot of Pentacles in your reading, then find solutions to

your problems about finances or address any issues with your job.

Minor Arcana Wands

The Suit of Wands consists of energy, spirituality, and intuition.
Wands are unpredictable and considered creative. These cards
demonstrate a connection with the element of Fire. Wands disclose
our willpower and how we use passion as fuel.

Wands deal with our core being and analyze our real person-
ality. Wands can also illustrate our lack of direction and our
disillusionment.

When there are a lot of Wands in a reading, it is a suggestion to

seek your true purpose. Follow what lights you up or motivates
you, which will give your life meaning.

67
CARD SPREADS

Card spreads present various situations to reflect upon life. There

are lots and lots of options to choose from when doing a reading.
If you want to learn more complicated spreads, you can look those
up. For a beginner’s guide, I think it makes sense to just illustrate
a 3-card spread.

I prefer the 3-card spread because it is quick yet gives a good

overview.

When I pull Tarot, it’s because I want a fast answer. The 3-card
spread is the perfect solution.

In the beginning, don’t get all caught up in the need to be fancy.

Start simple.

3-Card Spread
This spread conveys the way things were, how they are, and what
they might be in the future. It can be about anything in your life.
Ask your question, and then use one of these examples to reveal a
decision or an explanation. The following are simply suggestions
to allocate to each of the three cards:

• Past, Present, Future

• What worked, What didn’t, What can be learned
• What do you want, What is standing in the way, What can you
do about it
• Strengths, Weaknesses, Advice
• Option 1, Option 2, Option 3
• Mind, Body, Spirit
• Stop, Start, Continue

HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

If you feel drawn to Tarot cards, then give them a try. Shuffle the
deck, and, if one pops out (they often do), then consider that a sign.
I like to think that is Spirit telling me to pick that card. But don’t
turn it over right away.

Put the card between your hands, close your eyes, and feel the
card. Does it feel heavy or light? Do you have any sensation in your
hands or anywhere in your body when you hold it? Do you see a
color or shape?

You may not feel or see anything and that is ok. Keep trying. It took
me a while to trust what I was feeling or seeing. I kept a journal to
track how accurately I was when I flipped a card over. By keeping a
journal, it was able to give me concrete proof that what I was feeling
or seeing lined up with the card that was drawn.

I did the journal exercise with Oracle cards, too. They are similar in
the way they can strengthen your intuition. They are different in the
meanings they convey but both build confidence in spiritual skills.

Tarot cards helped strengthen the trust in my own voice and my

own abilities, but, more than that, it provided a deeper respect for
the extensive new world I was unraveling.

By contrast, Oracle cards are known as wisdom cards. They are the
modern-day version of Tarot. Oracle cards are positive and express
big, powerful messages, whereas, Tarot is based in the ancient
tradition of divination that dates back centuries.

It is easy to question the accuracy of the cards and have skepticism

around them. I admit I certainly had a lot of doubt about the cards.
But since you are reading this book, it is safe to say you are open to
the possibility that maybe, just maybe, there could be something
to all of this.

69
COSMIC WARRIOR

Will they give you answers? The only way to find out is to shuffle a
deck and draw a card. The cards you are dealt will resonate if—and
only if—you are being honest with yourself.

70
ORACLE CARDS

I was naturally drawn to cards as a tool. Tarot and Oracle are both
great and I suggest you compare for yourself. There is a difference
and it comes down to a personal choice. Before I explain how to
use Oracle cards, I want to illustrate how they stand apart from
Tarot.

Concisely, Tarot is the customary deck of cards that follows a

specific structure. There are many authors of Tarot cards which
can make decks look different. But in order to be a deck of Tarot,
they would then need to follow certain rules.

On the other hand, Oracle cards are free of restrictions and do not
have rules to follow. In fact, there isn’t even a set number of cards
that need to be in an Oracle deck. But you’ll find most Oracle decks
end up copying Tarot and contain 78 cards.

Tarot has common themes and messages in every deck. This is

the biggest difference between the two because Oracle cards are
free-form.

Oracle cards appeal to me because they interpret bigger picture

questions. However, I prefer to use Tarot when I have a very specific
problem I need to resolve.

Since the Oracle cards do not have a set of rules to follow, it leaves
the reader with a lot more flexibility. I suggest you find an Oracle
deck that jumps out to you. There are many to choose from, so use
your gut to select a deck.

Oracle cards are linked to the energetic vibration in numbers and

images. These are the few steps I use to read Oracle cards:

71
COSMIC WARRIOR

1. First, I hold the deck in my hand, close my eyes, and set an

intention for the reading. Making an intention is important
to me, and I feel more connected when I declare this first.

2. Then, I will ask a question. It can be in your head or feel free

to say it out loud. The question I ask is fairly specific.

3. Next, I shuffle the cards. Since the cards are a little larger than
a typical set of cards, I find it hard to do a normal shuffle.
My hands are pretty small. I need to cut the deck and mix
them up a lot. I’ll say to myself a personal version of a grateful
message for the answers that I will receive. My goal is always
to get more clarity, so I stay in that zone while I’m shuffling.
I pay attention to what I’m feeling as I shuffle. Sometimes a
card pops out. Or a card could stick out more than the rest
and keep pushing out. Or I might tune into what I’m feeling,
and I get the inclination to pick a certain card. I will pick a
card based on my feeling at the time, and I trust it’s the right
card for me.

4. The card that is chosen is the answer I need. I trust it. I will
keep the card turned down and between my hands in order
to sense any information that may come through to me. It
becomes another way I hone my intuitive skills.

5. I will then turn the card over, and read the message. I’ll look at
the colors, images, and words on the card. I try to remember
my first impression because that is how my body is reacting
to the card. The feelings I get help me to discover the message
that is meant for me. Consider what feelings or emotions
arise, if any. And then evaluate for yourself how that resonates
in your life. Does it make sense?

If you are seeking further information, then feel free to shuffle the

72
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

deck again, and ask the angels to give you more guidance. You
can always ask for further messages to go deeper into what they
are trying to tell you. Be even more specific with the question for
clarification.

Pull a card you are drawn to, and repeat the steps.

Lastly, use the guidebook that comes with the deck of cards. The
guidebook which is provided with each deck of cards contains defi-
nitions by the author. The best advice I was given was to notice
how any thoughts or feelings that rise to the surface in this process
because they are part of the answer. I only use the guidebook when
I need supplementary details.

I use Oracle cards as a spiritual tool. For me, they bring me

confidence, insight, and hope. They are created to help you to tune
inward and understand your own intuition. The answers are within
you. Soon you’ll learn to listen and won’t rely on a tool to validate
your intuitive ability. You will be able to read the message clearly
just with your own skills. You will simply know it and trust yourself.

CRYSTALS
“Everything in life is vibration.”
–Albert Einstein

Crystals are all the rage. Are you seeing them everywhere? They
are definitely experiencing a surge in popularity, which can make
it fun to jump on the bandwagon. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy
to know what to do with them. I’m here to help.

To start, crystals are minerals. Their appearance depends upon

the natural characteristics and the conditions in which that crystal
may have grown over a period of time. When I say over time, this
could be a thousand years. Yep, your crystals could be thousands
of years old.

The science-y part you may hear is crystals hold both positive and
negative energy. The reason is due to the chemical structure of the
repeating patterns of atoms that seals in its memory. That is pretty
hard for me to grasp but I’m just going with it.

Since they can hold and store all types of energy, it is good to
cleanse them. Your personality comes into play when you decide
how you like to cleanse them. Some may be cleansed in water but
not all of them. Ask questions when you purchase crystals on how
to store and care for them.

Crystals are able to harness the energy of the universe and the
Earth. This is why crystals are sources of healing powers.

News flash: thoughts and intentions you set for the crystals are
key. Ok, maybe it’s not much of a surprise, but seriously, thoughts
matter, so be mindful of what you are thinking. Manifesting your

74
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

intentions with the crystals makes it possible for the vibrations to

connect. And ultimately, your intentions affect how the crystals
work on your behalf.

Since crystals can pick up on energy, it is best to make your

intentions known and repeat them. A daily habit will ensure the
crystals are aligned with your big vision. And the habit of saying
your intentions each day also helps your spirit guides understand
how to assist you.

Since I know many will remain cautious regarding the healing

powers of crystals, I want to present some science to back it up.
IBM scientist Marcel Vogel realized crystals were growing under
the microscope and made a radical move by testing it. This was
a crazy move because nobody was investigating the energy of
crystals.

He made a hypothesis that the clear quartz was storing thoughts

just like tapes use magnetic energy to store sound. It was this
discovery that made a lot of disbelievers into believers.

The world of crystals can seem immense. I want to take shrink

it down a little so it’s easier to digest and ultimately, so you feel
comfortable using them. Crystals can be customized by the user’s
interpretation of the energy they feel. That’s right, you play a role.

Crystals are useful tools because, again, they encourage you to tap
into your intuition. The options with crystals seem endless, and it’s
exciting to explore.

I will break down the crystals first by the characteristics, and then
I’ll explain some specific ones and their known qualities.

COSMIC WARRIOR

Characteristics

Chunks
There isn’t a specific trait. They work well in a room to increase the
vibe of the atmosphere or feel free to carry in your purse or pocket.

Single Wands
You have likely seen these in jewelry. They have a rough edge on
one side and the other side is a pointy, single end at the other. Use
these to cleanse other crystals.

Clusters
They are found as groups of little crystals that grew together and
are really pretty. At least I think they are pretty. They can calm an
area and it is why many put them on their desks or put them in a
prominent area of their home for everyone to notice.

Cut Crystals
These are smooth and have been cut into shapes. Some common
shapes are pyramids or spheres.

Tumblestones
Small stones and crystals over time have been tumbled, and thus
have smooth and shiny sides. Their energy is a powerful little
punch and is often carried in a pocket.

76
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

Healing energy of crystals

Crystals hold energy properties and can affect mental, physical,
and spiritual aspects of our life. There are so many crystals in the
world. I’ve compiled a list of what I consider the top ones to get
you started.

Selenite
The only crystal you don’t need to charge and is used to cleanse
and recharge other crystals. They call it The Master. It is great with
our intuition and brings more peace.

Tourmaline
This is my go-to stone for grounding. It helps shield you from
negativity. The black color absorbs light and acts as a sponge for
all the dark energy around you. This is great for your spine or joints.

Crystal Quartz
A well-known crystal and is the window to the metaphysical world.
It’s pretty because it holds every color in the spectrum. It is used to
help the immune system and increase energy.

Citrine
A yellow colored crystal that is linked with money or wealth.
Physically it can be useful for digestive issues.

Rose Quartz
The love stone is a pretty pink shade. Use this to invite in love and
attract harmony into your relationship. It can be used for some
deep emotional problems you need to release.

77
COSMIC WARRIOR

Agate
This comes in so many colors. This stone transforms negative
energy and aids emotional instability. This is used to find more
clarity and gather your thoughts.

Turquoise
This is best known as a protective stone. It helps support our
intuition because it strengthens the meridians. It is closely related
to psychic properties and helps clear blockages.

Amethyst
This purple stone is everywhere and mostly used with manifesta-
tion. It also balances hormones, relieves aches and pains, and can
help you sleep better. Some even put under their pillow at night.

Obsidian
This jet black stone is known to reflect our deep desires and soul. It
is used to learn about our flaws and weaknesses we try to hide. The
benefits are mostly around anxiety and buried emotions.

Opal
The stone is associated with the Third Eye chakra. It will inspire
more happiness and appreciation into your life. Opal is used to
shine more light and open up your psychic qualities. It is great with
healing anything that has to do with eyes or vision.

78
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

How to choose?
The absolute best way to choose a crystal is to tune into what is
drawing you to the stone. If I am torn between two then I put one
in each hand, close my eyes, and feel. The one I have a reaction to is
the one I choose. Sometimes I won’t get a feeling, so I just move on.

I vividly remember a shop owner who said this to me, and it has
stuck, “You don’t choose the crystal. The crystal chooses you.”

The absolute best way to find a stone that will work for you is to pick
it out yourself. That means it’s hard to order it online. I know it’s
not easy to do this, but I strongly suggest you go to a crystal shop
and browse. Get used to the energy they express. See for yourself
which ones resonate. It could be color, shape, texture, or something
unknown at the time. But until you get around them, this will not
make as much sense to you.

There is likely a crystal that will bring you the energy you need.
It boils down to fit and feel and then trusting in the connection.
I love crystals for the beauty they offer as well as the energetic
powers. Crystals continue to fascinate me, and I love their endless
possibilities.

79
ASTROLOGY
Astrology is one of my absolute favorite spiritual tools. I have always
loved it. Maybe it has something to do with my strong interest in
other countries and foreign languages. That sounds like a bizarre
connection, but I see astrology as an insight into a whole new world
with a language I need to learn.

Astrology explains a person’s personality and the events in their

life. I know, so many things can explain this, but astrology uses
the position of the sun, moon, and planets at the time of birth to
reveal answers.

Astrology is often confused with horoscopes. Let me clarify:

astrology is a form of science, whereas a horoscope is a prediction
based on astrology.

When you see an astrology chart, it can be a little overwhelming.

There are lots of symbols and letters that are not easy to understand.
And then there is extensive meaning in all the lines and where they
meet or intersect.

Astrology comes from the Greeks going back a long time in history.
Astron means ‘star’ and logos means ‘word.’ Put it together, and
you can deduct its meaning as the language of the stars. Astrology
encourages us to use the moon, stars, and universe to understand
our true purpose.

80
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

There is a harmony that is happening between the movement of

the sun, moon, and planets. It’s a way for us to see this beautiful
synchronicity that brings everything together. For me, it makes me
feel part of the larger world and I find comfort in that.

Birth Chart
A birth chart is a map. In our modern lifestyle, we are all so
dependent on GPS and using phones to find directions that we
have lost the art of reading a good, old-fashioned map. Well, a birth
chart is just like those old maps.

Each detail explains how everything was aligned the moment of

birth. Each factor plays a role in understanding your true self.
Astrologers need your birth date, the name of the town you were
born, and the exact time of birth in order to create your detailed
birth chart.

Why would you want to get a birth chart created? It is amazing to

read an accurate reading by a skilled astrologer. A birth chart shows
the energy and qualities at the time of your birth, which played a
strong influence regarding the qualities in the human psyche and
the overall blueprint in your life.

Your birth chart will provide perceptive data about you. It is

amazing to me because the astrologer only uses three facts to come
up with this report. I had my birth chart done and it was so spot on
that it still baffles me how it is that accurate.

Your chart gives you useful information. It can be used to navigate

one’s personal life, their business endeavors, or even their love life.
The information provided can be used for anything regarding your
life you choose.

I had my birth chart done and it felt so completely on point. It was

81
COSMIC WARRIOR

as if I read on paper what I already knew but nobody else may know
about me. For example, my birth date is in October, which makes
me a Libra. That has made sense to me my whole life. The birth
chart had so many little details about me that it was too much to
digest at once.

One detail that was fascinating to me was learning the importance

of the North Node. I thought the sun sign was the one we needed
to know. But there is way much more to it. For example, my North
Node is Aries. These embody the qualities I am learning in this life
in order to define myself instead of living the way others view me.
Being an Aries North Node explains to me how I want to be bold
and walk my unique path but my fear of failure is what I need to
push through.

I love the insight it gave me about the path I am taking. It shows

my strengths and weaknesses. But at the end of the day, I have free
will. It illustrates my potential. Yet, it doesn’t dictate what I can or
cannot achieve. It shed light on areas of my personality that ring
true and areas of my life that now make more sense.

Each of us get to choose our life path. A birth chart is not set in
stone. But it’s incredible to see how things were lined up the
moment one comes into the world and how that alignment causes
each of us to be our unique self.

The uniqueness of each of us is why I firmly believe we need to

find our purpose. We have a life we are meant to live and it’s not to
copy someone else.

Whether or not you believe in astrology, it is hard to deny that the

planets play a role in the way we live. Below is a description of key
aspects most commonly associated with each planet.

NUMEROLOGY

Numbers have an immense amount of deep meaning to them.

They have an essence and a significance all their own. Numbers
are not as simple as they appear. They are used to interpret the
expression of emotion. For centuries, numbers have helped people
comprehend the universe. In that sense, numbers have been
revered.

Numbers have been utilized to grasp spiritual significance. There

is a magic to numerology when it uses your name or date of birth
as a formula to reduce it to a single digit.

Each digit, ranging from 1-9 has its own characteristics. The single
digit that results from your name or date of birth conveys your
personality. In that sense do the calculations in order to get the
number that corresponds to your identity traits.

As if that wasn’t enough, it also has a ranking for the numbers. They
put them in dominant or subdominant categories. This ranking will
show if you are balanced or not.

The interesting part about numerology is it doesn’t take into

account any outside factors like race, nationality, economics, or
even gender to determine the characteristics of your personality.
It’s simply just adding numbers.

Numerology explains a great deal about our universe as a whole.

It also offers insight into our soul’s purpose. I am captivated that a
number can do both.

If you are interested in finding your personality traits, then it’s

pretty simple to investigate. All you need is your name and date
of birth. It is no surprise that there is reason to believe one’s given

86
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

name is significant and has some secret clues. In addition, if you

like or don’t like your name, there could be a numerology reason
behind that, too.

Numerology Meanings
Odd numbers are masculine (active, creative, cold)

Even numbers are feminine (passive, receptive, warm)

Numerology is for numbers 1 to 9.

1 is about beginnings, physical things, unity, and it is masculine.

Indicates ambition and leadership. Ones want to be the best but
they should be cautious and not overshadow everyone else.

2 is a feminine number that shows stability and prefers groups.

Twos are followers and team members so the opposite of Ones.
Their hope is to make others shine, and ensure things work well.

3 is masculine and associated with the Holy Trinity. Threes bring

joy and are actively trying to show the bright side or good in things.

4 is not just feminine but brings meaning to things like seasons,

elements, directions and sides. Fours are determined to reach a
goal but in an organized effort. They miss out on a lot of the fun
because they are too busy working hard.

5 is masculine and corresponds to the senses. Fives are adven-

turous but also quick-tempered. They are free thinking and need
change, and do not it like it when feeling too stable.

6 is the feminine trait for the six-pointed star. They are the
supportive and nurturing friends and are the responsible one.

7 is a masculine number that also represents the holiest and most

87
COSMIC WARRIOR

magical of the numerology numbers. It corresponds to things like

Creation and rest in 7 days; there are 7 pillars of wisdom, 7 chakras,
and even 7 stars in the Big Dipper. Sevens are often mystics and
intelligent people. They might come off as cold and unfeeling yet
aren’t concerned with that.

8 is feminine that corresponds to practical matters. It’s also a

symbol of infinity. Eights are hardworking and persistent.

9 is a masculine number that signifies completion. Nines like to

be an achiever and consider the big picture. They are high energy
who are like recognition for their efforts and work hard to finish
projects. Their difficulty is in letting it go when it’s done.

Date of Birth Meaning

In order to find the single digit that reveals your personality, there
is a calculation to use with your date of birth. The whole group of
numbers is needed and is called your destiny number.

How to calculate all you need to do is add all the numbers together.

For example, June 4, 1970

= (6 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 0) = 27
= 27 (2 + 7)
=9

You keep adding till you get a single digit.

And you can just use the number of your birthday to go with the
full number. In the example above, it is the number 4. Therefore,
the person uses both 9 and 4 to find out about their personality.

Life Path numbers explain how a life will unfold. They spell out

88
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

life’s lessons and how you might handle challenges or opportuni-

ties. It uses all the numbers in your birth date, so it doesn’t change.

Psychic Number is calculated by just the day of birth. It is how

someone views themselves and their core abilities.

Expression Numbers indicate natural strengths and weaknesses

and is also called a Destiny Number. This number is the foundation
for your Life Path, which is determined at the time of birth. The way
to find this number you use the letters in your name. It is linked to
karma because it’s how people view them.

Personality Number is how people view you. It is a good indicator

of what you want to reveal to the world. It is determined by only
the consonants in your name.

Heart’s Desire is why you do the things you do. It is what you really
care about and what guides your choices. This number comes from
just the vowels in your name to uncover the subconscious wishes.

Birth Day Number is the day you were born and explains your
special gift.

Numerology shows there is far more to numbers than what we see

or calculate. The secrets to our personality are hidden in the day
we were born and unveiled by adding the numbers.

It is fun to use numerology not just for uncovering your own per-
sonality, but it is also a way to see if someone is a good love interest.
I’ve even heard how there is a trend to test names of their unborn
children based on the letters and expected date of birth.

Numerology is not a prediction, and there is still a lot of free will in

your life. There are clues to things about you that you can utilize to
your benefit. There are also indicators from the numbers that are
useful in suggesting areas of improvement.

89
COSMIC WARRIOR

Use this tool if you want to understand more about yourself. Any
information you gather about your true self is helpful when you
are developing a plan for your life. If that is one of your goals, then
use numerology to gain more insight and find your way. It’s not a
perfect solution and doesn’t lay out a plan. But it’s material that
offers more pieces to your puzzle.

90
HEALING
“Every thought you produce, anything you say, any action you do,
it bears your signature.”
–Thich Nhat Hanh

Spiritual healing treats the body and the spirit. It helps with
emotions because it assists with the clearing of blockages and aims
to restore balance in the whole body. Spiritual healing has been
practiced for centuries. It’s a natural, energy healing therapy that
aims to treat the whole person and assist in the healing process.

The practitioner who performs the healing acts as a channel. The

spiritual healer channels the healing energy of the spirit or universe
and passes it to another person. The energy that is used for healing
is called Chi or Prana. When you understand how energy is being
called on to heal, it makes sense that it can be done both near or
far away.

Healers devise their own healing methods but are rooted in a core
belief. The things that overlap across the board:

• Prayer
• Visualization
• Psychic powers
• Channeling spirit guides
• Concentration
• Personal spiritual beliefs
• Channeling energy

Healers utilize any number of the above methods to provide

91
COSMIC WARRIOR

healing. If someone is seeking a spiritual healing, it must start with

an open mind and a basic spiritual belief.

The focus of spiritual healing is to bring a person’s body back to

harmony and balance in order to fix the illness. This type of healing
encompasses so much more than just the symptoms a person is
feeling at the time.

Spiritual healing seeks to intervene energetically in order to get

to the reason for the disease. It’s more about a journey of healing
rather than just getting well. A spiritual healer wants to heal a
person’s soul. And in that sense, the healing becomes about the
body, mind, and heart.

The spiritual healing approach is similar to what is commonly

known as holistic care. The holistic view according to wellness
doesn’t merely address the symptoms. Instead, it is a system based
on a belief that the mind, body, and soul are inextricably linked.

It considers optimal health to be more than showing no signs of

disease. Rather, spiritual healing actively pursues methods that
keep each part functioning at its most effective.

Spiritual healing gets to the core of any underlying issues and

brings them to the forefront. When someone works through old
wounds and deep-rooted sources of pain then it allows for the
body to work well.

A person may seek spiritual healing to help with an illness or to

help prevent a disease by taking a proactive approach to wellness.

92
ENERGY

The idea of energy healing is pretty out there for a lot of people.
Energy healing can be hard to grasp at first because it’s not typically
what you consider for wellness. It doesn’t seem like it could be real
or that it works. But it is and it does.

As someone who was wary of many aspects to anything New Age,

it would seem that I’d have my share of skepticism with energy
healers, too. But it’s amazing what an older sibling’s influence
can have on you. Since my brother became an acupuncturist, and
he treated me after surgery, I felt the proof. I didn’t need to see
anything to document its validity.

Around the same time he became certified, I had a skiing accident.

While the actual accident was minor, I did manage to tear ligaments
in both knees. It meant I had to have both knees operated on, and
I was warned about the pain, the extensive recovery, and various
mobility concerns. My brother, Mike offered to let me stay with him
after the surgery, and he performed acupuncture on me.

Having both knees repaired was a lot for the body to handle. I was
fearing a lengthy stretch of pain. But Mike placed needles in several
parts of my body that appeared to be random but I later learned
were strategic. They would stay in place for about 30 minutes. It
was strange to admit then and many still don’t believe me, but I
didn’t have any pain. Truly, I didn’t feel I was injured, nor was it
the way I imagined post-surgery would feel. Acupuncture worked.
I also didn’t need any of the strong medication that was prescribed
or even an Advil.

At the time I thought acupuncture was a pain relief treatment. After

all, that is what it was for me. But what the acupuncture was able

93
COSMIC WARRIOR

to do was help to unblock the energy in my body. He allowed the

energy flow, thus treating the body as a whole and not just the pain
of surgery or the trauma in one part.

I remember thinking this was the coolest thing ever, and why
doesn’t everyone do it? It is funny how life works. Decades later I
found myself studying energy healing.

Energy healing is a broad term. The objective is to move the energy

in and around the body to restore balance. Balance is the goal.
When we are balanced, then our body is able to work properly,
regenerate where needed, and then heal itself.

There are surprisingly many different kinds of energy healing

modalities. I became interested in learning for myself. I knew it
worked in acupuncture but I wanted to understand how it could
work with just the hands.

Energy is in everything. It then makes sense to conclude that we can

actually transfer our energy, too. Energy healing is an incredibly
practical tool that is performed naturally. And, you can already
guess what I’m about to say: anyone can use it, and anyone can
do it.

When we are out of balance, it is due to a range of factors. Common

reasons to find your body in distress, suffering, or simply feeling
unwell could be linked to environmental issues, infections,
emotional conflict, and, of course, we need to include negative
thoughts. Don’t discount the power of our thoughts.

The energy systems in a body, such as aura or chakras, are energet-

ically bound to physical organs. Therefore, when energy systems
are hindered, it poses a negative effect on our body. Blocked energy
can lead to serious health issues if it remains unaddressed.

94
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

Energy healing is a technique used to clear blockages to help

re-balance the energy of the body. An example of an energy
blockage is inflammation. We hear about inflammation all the
time and it’s described as the source of many ailments. Therefore,
clearing up blockages could solve inflammation issues.

Our body is constantly giving us clues and asking us to take action.

It needs us to find ways to free up the energy so it can flow easily.
The body sends us signals when it needs help moving energy, thus
assisting the body to repair and heal itself.

The primary objective of practicing energy healing is to support

one’s overall health. I strongly believe everyone should seek
medical advice from their trusted doctor when experiencing health
issues. I am not suggesting to only employ energy healing for your
wellness. Rather, I believe that traditional and non-traditional
medical methods can be utilized in partnership.

But you need to be your own health advocate, and use all the infor-
mation you can find to make decisions about what course of action
to take for yourself. You know your body best, therefore take the
lead in its well being.

I offer these techniques as available options to consider. Many

people may not understand what these healing methods offer so
would not think about them. Yet, I defer to you and your doctor
when it comes to your specific health concerns. The more you
know, the better you are able to make an informed decision about
the care you wish to receive.

95
REIKI

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. I remember the first

time I learned about Reiki from booking a massage. The therapist
combined Reiki with hot stones into one unique massage and
explained that she decided to infuse the two. The result was one
the best massages I’d received and it motivated me to look into
Reiki further.

When I understood it’s overall principles and then recognized how

it overlapped with other methods, it made complete sense to me.
I was hooked.

I never experienced a massage quite like that, and I credit that

experience as the catalyst to becoming a Reiki Master. I love being
able to perform Reiki on my kids, friends, or myself. I absolutely
love witnessing its positive effect.

What is Reiki? Well, I could talk about this subject for hours, but
let me try to explain it briefly. It is easier for me to show you rather
than through words but I’ll do my best.

In essence, it is an energy healing that is performed with the hands

in a series of positions over someone’s body. There is more to it, of
course, but that is a basic description.

When I perform Reiki, the only time I actually touch a person is in

the beginning. At that time, I hold their feet to intentionally ground
them. Otherwise, my hands are a few inches above their body, as
they lay down. It can be performed with the person sitting, too, but
I commonly have the person lay flat on their back.

The objective is similar to all the modalities: to promote overall

balance in the body. Reiki sets that goal by seeking to balance

96
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

the body, as well as the mind and spirit. As a spiritual practice,

it promotes peace for the person through relaxation techniques.

What I state over and over but bears repeating is that all of these
skills are available to anyone interested in learning them. That is
the same with Reiki. Anyone can learn Reiki. It might be challeng-
ing or confusing but it is not for only a select few.

And everyone can benefit from Reiki energy healing. I have found
it to be an effective, positive form of energy healing that reduces
stress.

After I completed my courses, I was then attuned. This sounds odd,

but that is how the teacher channels the energy to the student. It
can be a powerful experience for some people. It is considered an
initiation or a blessing of sorts.

When someone becomes attuned, they are prepared to become

a channel. This allows the attuned to allow life energy to flow
through them with the intention of healing others. For this reason,
it is important to have an attunement before performing Reiki on
others.

Everyone responds to Reiki differently since the energy they

are receiving goes to where they need it. Each person needs a
customized approach to energy healing based on their own needs
at the time. It is not the same as a massage and it’s different from
acupuncture. It shares some similarities but it is its own form of
healing.

Reiki’s main unique distinction from other energy methods is that

the practitioner as well as the person they are helping benefit. The
energy is channeled through the Reiki Master, which is innately
healing.

97
COSMIC WARRIOR

The practitioner should be grounded before and after the session.

Since the practitioner acts as a channel for energy, it will be
healing. But the practitioner needs to take care of their own self,
too because it can sometimes be a lot on their body, too, if they do
not ground themselves.

The flow of energy is the ultimate objective, but it’s important to

regulate it as well. Imagine a hose that has water in it. When there is
a kink in the hose the water is blocked or maybe can’t flow as easily.
But when the kink is fixed the water can rush through and cause a
flood of water at one time. Now imagine energy in that same way.
When energy is blocked that isn’t good but when it is cleared it
can flow too quickly. A skilled Reiki Master will direct the energy
properly and ensure that the experience provides healing benefits.

98
AYURVEDA

I am a recent Ayurveda junkie. It shocks me that it took me this long

to dive into this unbelievable tradition. The more I learn, the more
it just makes complete sense to me. It is so vast in its capabilities
that it’s too much to cover in this book. Therefore, I’ll only outline
the basics.

Ayurveda is often referred to as the sister science to yoga. It is the

Indian system of medicine which categorizes everything into the
five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether. This natural healing
system is estimated to be over 5,000 years old. That’s a lot of years
to show effectiveness.

Ayurveda doesn’t focus on treating an illness. Rather, it provides

knowledge for one to use in balancing the integration between
mind, body, spirit, and environment.

The core of Ayurveda is based on the belief that everyone and

everything is part of nature. We all must live in harmony together.
Ayurveda is rooted in the theory that sleeping and rising according
to the sun, choosing foods based on the area you live, and partici-
pate in activities that work with your day are all basic assumptions.

A few basic tenets include:

• Everything in the universe is made of the same five elements:

space, air, water, and earth; therefore everything is connected.
• The environment and the self are completely associated.
• Our health depends upon how we personally connect with
others, the environment, and the universe.
• If there is an imbalance then we are at risk for disease.

99
COSMIC WARRIOR

• Our choices and actions matter to our health.

There is a core concept that every human is born with a proportion

of each of the doshas that construct our genetic code, which
develops our mental and physical attributes.

Doshas broken down a bit more:

• Air is mobility and lack of any form

• Fire is heat and can transform
• Water is unstable, liquid
• Earth is stability, solid, foundation
• Ether is expansive, widespread

The philosophy of Ayurveda is that we achieve our greatest health

when we find harmony between our thoughts, feelings, and actions
while we actively seek healing. And the presence of disease or lack
thereof is a result of how we interconnect our thoughts, feelings,
and emotions.

Ayurveda informs us how to interpret a person based on the doshas

and provides a blueprint for ultimate health. The Elements and
the Doshas are the two main aspects that are important in one’s
Ayurveda plan.

Each person has a mix of the doshas, and it is common to have

a predominant one. It is widely accepted that we are born with a
dosha already predetermined.

The dominant dosha creates our personality and affects things,

such as our cravings and often an influence on our body type.

100
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

Characteristics of the three Doshas:

Pitta
• Fire
• Hot, light, intense or fiery
• Digestion, metabolism, small intestine
• Allows us to understand or “digest” concepts
• Brings light to eyes, hair, skin
• If dominant: intense, intelligent, focused
• If balanced: friendly, disciplined
• If unbalanced: irritable, indigestion

Vata
• Ether
• Dry, cold or erratic
• The force behind both Pita and Kapha
• Balances thought and emotion
• Fuels creativity
• If dominant: enthusiastic, thin build, energetic
• If balanced: creative
• If unbalanced: anxious, can’t sleep, dry skin

Kapha
• Earth
• Stable, dense, heavy or grounded
• Binds things together
• Associated with carrying nutrients, governs one’s immunity

101
COSMIC WARRIOR

• Helps self-repair and healing

• Promotes positive emotions
• Physical endurance
• If dominant: easy-going, nurturing
• If balanced: sweet, stable
• If unbalanced: weight gain, sinus problems

Your dosha is a guideline designed to help you live your healthiest

life. It recommends food, exercise, sleep and even locations that
are most suitable for your particular dosha. It illustrates how to
lead your best life.

Ayurveda uses almost everything to help with healing. When the

sum total is connected in nature, all that is needed to heal can be
found within nature. Our healing begins within. Ayurveda does
not dictate a way to override a system but instead prescribes ways
to work within one. According to Ayurveda, the mind is the most
powerful tool to heal our body. Therefore, using the mind properly
is a core principle.

The first step is to identify your dosha. When you understand your
dosha, you can begin to acknowledge your body type and its needs.
This vital data outlines your optimal choices.

When you learn to align with the power in nature and work with it
rather than fight against it, you will feel more in flow. I can certainly
agree with the principle that we learn about ourselves when we
respect, honor and appreciate nature. We can’t control nature.
When we release that need to control, decide to work in tandem,
then all of nature benefits.

102
ACUPUNCTURE

If you suffer from pain, acupuncture is an amazingly beneficial

healing tool. I am a huge fan and can vouch for its pain relief effec-
tiveness. But I do appreciate how people can be cautious when it
comes to needles, even though these are super, super fine.

Acupuncture is rooted in Chinese Medicine with the belief that

disease is caused when the flow of energy is disrupted. Again,
it’s all about energy flowing freely and making sure there are no
blockages. Acupuncture doesn’t want something to be released
outside of the body but it seeks to regulate within the body.

It is the flow of energy, also known as chi, through paths, known

as meridians, in your body. Needles are placed in the meridians to
influence the energy movement.

The energy is released when points on the body are stimulated

by needles carefully inserted. The tiny needles are not placed in
random locations in the body but are strategically chosen. The
nervous system is signaled by the stimulation by the needles.

The needles stimulate points on the body to treat a health condition.

Acupuncture is not just pain relief. It is used for as many conditions
as you can imagine. It helps digestion, fertility, insomnia to name
just a few. I have used it for pain, but I would not hesitate to use it
for another ailment.

Acupuncture is great for prevention, too. Many use it for mainte-

nance and to boost their body rather than wait until they get sick.

An acupuncture needle is so thin. I don’t feel pain from it but I know

some are so emotional when it comes to needles that I don’t want
to downplay that fear. However, it takes around 40 acupuncture

103
COSMIC WARRIOR

needles to make the dimension of just one needle you’d see at the
doctor for a vaccination.

A really fine needle is put on an acupuncture point which

stimulates the nerve. The nerve will then automatically send a
signal to the brain. The energy travels through channels that are
called meridians.

The brain reacts to the stimulation of the needle by releasing

endorphins. The endorphins are the things that will make a person
feel better. Voila.

What you can expect during a procedure:

• You may be asked to change into a medical gown so the prac-

titioner can access points on your body that are too difficult
to reach if fully clothed
• Needles are inserted to various depths. They are extremely
thin and you will feel a mild sensation but each person will
have their own reaction. I believe if you have less anxiety, you
are less likely to feel as much of a sensation.
• A practitioner may move or twirl a needle after placement.
I explain this because it’s possible your practitioner may
manipulate the needle after placement.
• The needles are removed quickly and I personally have not
experienced any pain with removal.
• After they are removed, it is often suggested to remain still
and continue to relax for a few minutes.

In order to practice acupuncture, it takes a lot of schooling. There

is lengthy training as well as advanced degrees that are required.
Acupuncture might be classified as an alternative medicine, but it
is becoming more widely accepted.

104
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

There are risks with any new treatment and acupuncture has some,
too. Make sure you check with your doctor before trying acupunc-
ture and get a good recommendation of a certified practitioner.

As with everything, use your intuition to decide which healing

practice to choose. You know your body, and you know what you
are ready to pursue. Be an ardent advocate for your own health.

An experienced acupuncturist has knowledge that can help

diagnose, prevent, and heal the body. It is a healing tool that can
be utilized before symptoms present. The goal is to promote or
bring into balance the energy in the body.

Acupuncture is simple, relaxing, and an effective treatment for so

many health issues. Results vary but it’s a great option to consider
before pharmaceuticals to treat your health concern.

The mind, body, and spirit are all connected and work well when
they are balanced. Acupuncture is one tool that can activate energy
flow to promote a balanced connection.

105
QIGONG

Qigong is not something I heard of before I began this journey. I

had no knowledge of it, yet I see it more and more now, so I decided
to include in this book in case you come across it as well.

“Qi” is translated as subtle breath. “Gong” is translated as skill

cultivated through steady practice. Put them together and it means
using exercise and breathing control. In this way, it is similar to Tai
Chi.

A large umbrella covers many Chinese healing arts because of the

common goal: to focus on internal energy for health and longevity.
Qigong is used to loosen muscles while it builds power. It wants
to build and strengthen all othe organs. But there are also precise
techniques for specific organs.

The theory is that one’s health is improved through gentle exercise.

A specific set of movements are coordinated to boost the body’s
energy and then also strengthen it at the same time. The chi is able
to move along the nerves of the body. One is able to clear blocks
when they are able to tune in more.

It’s important to work on the chi first. It acts as the agent between
the mind and body. The mind controls the movement of the chi
and then chi moves the body.

If you prefer to heal through moving your body, this is a great

option to use. It uses your body awareness and encourages the
control of your energy to heal yourself. You will use strength, flex-
ibility, breathing, and focus to perform this method.

Qigong is part of Chinese medicine somewhat similarly to acu-

puncture. It uses hands to manipulate and unblock energy.

106
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

Healing transpires when energy is projected from the hands, eyes,

and voice.

The main assumption of Qigong is energy follows attention. This

means that whatever we pay attention to is where we focus our
energy. When one learns to merge the mind with the movement of
their breath, it cues the mental focus where to move the chi.

There are Twelve Primary Channels and Eight Extra Channels to

understand. These balance and smooth the flow at the same time it
strengthens. I won’t go into detail about these channels. If you are
pulled to practice Qigong, then I suggest you research that further.

Concentration through breathing is a way to focus energy

awareness, and expand the consciousness through deep relaxation.
In short, breathing stimulates the chi. And the exercises use the
hands and the body to cultivate the chi. When working in sync, the
chi is moving with a purpose. That sums up the goal.

Yoga is also comparable to Qigong in that it is an individually based

mind-body exercise. When I watch someone do Qigong exercises,
I think it can look like someone performing distant Reiki.

Qigong is meant to improve circulation, thus exercises the heart.

At the same time, it will help joints, improve balance, and calm the
mind. It is a form of exercise, but it’s also a mental skill that takes
practice to learn.

You need to know how to unlock your own chi before you can heal
others. The techniques the practitioner uses are:

• Breathing
• Postures
• Meditation
• Guided imagery

107
COSMIC WARRIOR

It is a set of movements that needs to be perfected before moving

to the next step, which is finding the subtle flow of energy in the
distinct postures. There is no required equipment necessary, and
it is customized by the individual.

The three movement types: moving meditation, still meditation

and sitting meditation are all used to strengthen and increase
energy.

All the movements take place with a focused visualization. It is a

critical component to the practice. Visualization is a guide of sorts
to the practice. Visualization is what is used to achieve the best
results. This type of visualization is more about feeling.

Similar to acupuncture, Qigong opens the meridians so energy

will flow easily. Qigong is a gentle exercise that uses repeated
movement that is duplicated a few times, so it stretches the body
as it builds awareness.

The goal of Qigong is to correct imbalances that the healer

detects. Again, it is a healing tool to maintain the flow of energy.
For example, the body can have nourishment issues if there is
stagnation. Another example is the body might feel tired if the
energy flows too rapidly. Regulating the energy is equally important
to removing blockages.

Qigong is a practice that involves the mind, body, and spirit. This
is a common theme used over and over. The goal is to improve
mental health and physical health by integrating breathing skills,
posture, movement, sound, all while maintaining an intention.

Qigong is a healing tradition and will help achieve a clear mind,

healthy body, and spiritual enlightenment. It reduces pain, boosts
the immune system, and can help with joints.

108
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

I like this healing tool because it strengthens, balances and

increases the mind, body, and spirit. There is a physical aspect to
it I enjoy. And I appreciate the flexibility and the development of
muscles which enhances physical benefits that I can notice in a
tangible way.

109
TAPPING

If you are anything like me, I had no idea that there was a healing
tool like tapping. And when I saw it I didn’t necessarily understand
why it worked. It didn’t make sense to me until I attempted it
myself.

It turns out, tapping is a reliable tool. This healing style applies the
same theory as other healing tools. It uses the meridians and seeks
instant release along them to help with stress and anxiety.

Put simply, you learn to tap away fears, beliefs, and any internal
issues.

No surprise, there is a method to the process of tapping therapy. It

is based on 9 acupressure points on the body while visualizing on
an object or an experience that is causing the person stress. The
process of tapping and visualizing at the same time disrupts the
programming your mind has set in place.

Think about it this way; our brain stores past hurts, and that affects
how we act in the future or how we may make decisions. If we can’t
get past the memories that cause us hurt, then tapping is a tool to
help release the things in our past that are stopping us.

We need to release the things that are keeping us from achieving

our goals. Tapping is a tool that can be used to help move you
forward.

As described in other parts of the book, the meridians are energy

paths in our body. The meridians are commonly discussed in every
healing technique. The nine tapping points are on some meridians,
which include 8 on the body and 1 on the heel of the hand.

110
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

The 8 points:
• Eyebrow (Two points: 1 at start of Right eyebrow; 1 start of
Left eyebrow)
• Side of eye
• Under eye
• Under nose
• Chin
• Collarbone
• Underarm
• Top of head. (Single point)

Tapping uses the index finger and the middle finger together to
cover a larger area with each tap.

To begin, close your eyes. Bring your focus to the main fear you go
back to over and over. Once you have that fear in focus, then begin
tapping the heel of the hand 10 times. At the same time as you tap,
repeat out loud the pain you are working through. Do this three
times in a row.

Follow each section with an affirmation of complete acceptance.

This can be a little hard to follow so here’s an example, which can
obviously be amended to suit your own style: “Even though I’m
afraid of the dark, I completely accept myself.”

Tap 5 to 7 times at each point while saying a statement out loud.

Saying the statement out loud keeps the focus.

111
COSMIC WARRIOR

Example:
Top of head: “My fear of the dark.”

Eyebrow: “My fear of the dark.”

Outside eye: “I’m afraid of being alone in the dark.”

Under the eye: “I’m embarrassed by my fear.”

Under nose: “I’m embarrassed someone will find out.”

Chin: “I worry I won’t have any friends.”

Collarbone: “I’m afraid of the dark.”

Under the arm: “I’m afraid I won’t have any friends.”

Focus is the key. The overall objective is to remain focused. The

exact words are not as important as the action of being focused.
Repeat tapping until you feel the intensity of the fear subsiding or
the fear is all gone.

Tapping is a useful healing tool that can be done anywhere, by

yourself, at any time. Tapping allows one to regain control while
thoughtfully tapping energy into one’s own body. It boils down to
focused intention allows one to take back the power and feel relief.

Tapping is a way to correct negative emotions, heal physical pain,

and restore balance. This is the ultimate goal for many people. The
more one works on this method the quicker one is able to release
and heal.

It may be obvious but still worth stating. Tapping won’t fix the
problem if you don’t look at the underlying cause. You need to
want to find the cause. And it’s buried because it hurts to face it.
So, keep in mind that bringing the cause to the surface may be
uncomfortable.

Only you know the underlying reason and can assess if you need

112
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

to seek out further medical advice to deal with resolving those

problems. And I urge you to look for help in any arena. Sometimes
we need outside help and there is no shame in that.

Your energy changes as you heal. Tapping can give you back your
power and make a shift in your energy. And the best part about
tapping is that anyone can learn to tap because it is a simple,
painless technique.

113
SOUND BATH

A Sound Bath is not what it sounds like. There is no water involved.

I must admit, when I was invited to a Sound Bath party I was
nervous to attend.

It was the fear of the unknown. I confess this because I want you to
know that you not alone if you have reservations about trying any
of the things I mention in the book. I have tried them all and each
time I can find myself hesitating.

If you are presented with an opportunity, I suggest you seize it.

Don’t talk yourself out of it. I have to push myself often to try new
things that scare me, and a Sound Bath is another example where
I am so happy I didn’t skip it.

The Sound Bath for me was profound. It allowed me to tap into

my inner fears and blocks that I foolishly believed were no longer
issues. It was incredibly healing, and I left the session feeling lighter
and calmer. In fact, I have never slept that well before or since.

Let me attempt to explain what this healing tool is for someone

who may not have heard of it or has yet to experience it. A Sound
Bath is a healing session or a meditative process. It’s an experience
that feels different to each person, and there isn’t a right or wrong
reaction. Expectations can mess with the results and leave you
feeling it wasn’t helpful. Instead, don’t go in with any assumptions
and you will gain the outcome you need.

Sound Baths can be traced back more than 2,000 years to Tibet. A
basic premise is everything vibrates at its own frequency. And if
our body is ill then it needs to be tuned.

The ancient healing practice involves singing bowls and a wide

114
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

range of instruments. They might include drums, gongs, tuning

forks, and even chanting can be utilized in the session.

It’s a subtle therapy that uses sound to stimulate the healing

process. It is the sounds that silence the mind in order to shift from
consciousness to a much deeper and relaxed consciousness, while
in a form of meditation. This state of relaxation allows our body to
heal.

Imagine it as letting sound take you into a deep and relaxed state.
The sounds come from instruments with different frequencies that
are introduced in succession. When a body is relaxed, it makes it
easier to look inward. When one is distracted, it is difficult to get
clarity.

Sound waves can reduce blood pressure, so this is one reason

beats or tones played simultaneously can reduce anxiety. It is best
described as a healing mix of meditation and listening.

A Sound Bath can be a passive exercise, but it is most effective if

the person participates, too. It is a way to actively tune in to your
stressors and allow the sound to promote the release. You will still
get the benefit if you just meditate on the sounds. However, if you
are able to tune in, then it’s worth it to try to release what is causing
you stress.

As you lie comfortably, the sounds will chime and fill you with
sensations. Your mind quiets and that alone provides a positive
effect on your mind and body. When the mind is still, the body
naturally calms, too.

Sounds have always been used to soothe. In fact, sound is such

a common way to set the mood. For example, singing melodies
to babies have been shown to help them fall asleep. And another

115
COSMIC WARRIOR

example is a reaction we get when we hear a specific song. I know

it’s a broad generalization, but I believe everyone has a certain
song, that when we hear it, we instantly get transported straight to
that place of the happy memory or sad time in our life. I use these
to illustrate the power of sound.

When my kids were young I noticed sound was something that

would lull them into sleep or could calm them when they cried. A
Sound Bath is a similar approach.

We see, feel and hear sounds all of the time. Sounds affect us
mentally, physically, and emotionally. Depending upon the
sound, it will increase or decrease our heartbeat in a correspond-
ing fashion, or it might increase or decrease our breathing pace.

The range of sounds can restore normal vibrational frequencies

to parts of the body that have disease or may not be in a state of
balance. The sounds literally bathe and wash over your body. It
provides the opportunity to strip away the pressures one is feeling
and brings the body back into balance.

The essence of a Sound Bath is to heighten awareness while

relaxing the mind and body. Emotions can be triggered or past
feelings are often stirred up. This is good because it means they
need to be addressed and healed. If they are not healed, they will
continue to be a block.

Main benefits:

• Calms nerves
• Balances the body
• Deepens meditation
• Lessens anxiety

116
HOW I RAISE MY VIBRATION

The intention brought to a Sound Bath is what makes the experience

have its most powerful reaction. Both the giver and receiver need
to have an intention for the sound. The theory is when intention is
merged with sound then it will create the manifestation.

So before you attend a Sound Bath, go into it with your personal

intention. Use this healing tool in a way that will benefit you fully.
Go in with an open mind, heart, and soul. You will never regret
approaching anything in that manner.

While sound has been utilized in many fashions over the years, it
has been exciting for me to learn to use it for my own healing. We
have many ways we stress our bodies, so it becomes increasingly
necessary to explore as many ways to restore and heal the body. A
Sound Bath is a beautiful practice that can also provide healing. I
hope you have the opportunity to experience one for yourself one
day.

HOW TO STOP HIDING
AND START SEEKING

“The power of intuitive understanding will protect you from harm

until the end of your days.”
–Lao Tzu

T here is a lot of information in this book to digest. It’s natural

if some chapters or ideas resonate more with you more than
others. The best tip I can offer is to listen to your intuition and
continue down that path. Lean into what feels true for you.

There is no right or wrong way to dig deeper on your quest to find

your authentic self and seek ways to live your best life.

My goal in writing this book is to encourage everyone to listen to

their gut, trust it, and be open to where it takes them. I didn’t know
where to look when I was curious. I felt the world of spirituality was
closed to me because I didn’t feel like I belonged in it. Or maybe I
was scared to believe I did.

But we all belong in the spiritual world and New Age is not for
a select group. We are all welcome. In fact, we need everyone to
actively participate and embrace their particular role. I’d love to be
a reason why more feel the barriers to entry have come down and
that I’m disrupting the image of a spiritual healer.

COSMIC WARRIOR

After all, if I can find my gifts at this point in my life, then anyone
can at any point in theirs. We are not meant to live a life that others
feel is right for us. I know I felt compelled to stay in my lane. And I
never dared to look to change lanes.

I now know that we aren’t meant to live a life in a certain mold. Life
is messy, it’s fluid, and it’s complicated. But life is also mysterious,
amazing, loving, and incredible.

Life is about living. The way I live fully is to actively learn and push
myself. It can be scary but it’s the only way to feel alive.

You are now equipped with basic information that covers a wide
range of topics you may come across. Feel empowered as you take
the next steps, and let your intuition be the guide.

The act of release is critical in your spiritual journey. Think of it as

a shedding of your old self. It matches how nature evolves from
one season to another.

Each time we are ready to go to the next level, we need to release.

It is how we elevate our soul. If we don’t release parts of ourselves
and our past then it delays the process to reach the next level.

Think of a time when you felt that you were ready for the next step,
but you weren’t able to get there. You were trying to force it because
you were getting frustrated. It was weighing you down. Your energy
and emotions were a huge source of pressure.

When this happens, it feels as life is unfair, or something is working

against you. But it’s quite the opposite. The reason it isn’t happening
is that you are not releasing.

The next time you feel like you are trudging through quicksand in

120
HOW TO STOP HIDING AND START SEEKING

life, take a moment and consider that maybe you need to let go
first. The world is not working against you. You are in control.

Get out of your own way. And trust.

121
RELEASE

The commitment to growing spiritually can challenge us as well

those in our lives. It can cause friction. And it may cause some
to judge you. These are some reasons why it’s hard to start this
journey or to fully embrace it. But it’s also why you may not be
manifesting as easily.

It is important to listen to your heart and believe what it is telling

you. Releasing is a natural process. The whole world is composed of
energy, so take into account the kind of energy you are connecting
with on a daily basis.

Some energy can affect us negatively. It can be subtle but powerful.

It doesn’t feel that great, but we can’t separate from it. It’s a force
that pulls us in and sometimes it feels too difficult to break from
that energy. Over time, you get used to that particular feeling and
don’t see it as that big of a deal. You are essentially conditioning
yourself to accept it. But are you growing, are you thriving, are you
feeling fulfilled?

On the other hand, think of how it feels when you are energetically
connected to something or someone who is more aligned with
positive energy. Compare the two. It makes sense to let the energy
that is dulling you fall by the wayside and to spend more time with
the optimistic, upbeat energy. Your outlook, your energetic contri-
bution, and your life will be more engaged and hopeful.

The act of release can be hard because, when you get down to the
heart of the matter, it is telling you to make a change. Change is
scary to so many people. Even if it’s a slight alteration or modifica-
tion, it can still bring anxiety.

122
HOW TO STOP HIDING AND START SEEKING

But change can also be freeing and beneficial in ways you don’t
see before you take that step. All of us are growing, and that could
mean growing apart. The action of release does not need to equal
something disastrous. Instead, revise the meaning behind the word
to indicate a movement towards your true path. Your thoughts
count.

I can’t tell you what to release. Only you know what is no longer
serving you or isn’t helping you grow. However, I do believe that
until we get honest with ourselves and take a hard look at our life,
we are going to be stuck in a pattern. If you want to become your
true self, then it starts with being truthful.

We have been trained over our lifetime to ignore our inner voice.
We naturally become conditioned to live our lives like people
around us. And this may be fine for you. But, there may come a
time when you have reached a point where you are nudged into
finding your soul’s purpose. At that point, turn inwards and find
your inner voice.

There isn’t a manual that works for everyone. When you are ready,
you know it. And you will get to where you need to go if you listen
within. You have all the answers already. You will be able to take
the steps in the direction you need to go if you are ready to trust
your intuition.

123
PRACTICE

You might hear the term Spiritual Practice being mentioned now
and again. But what does that really mean?

My definition might be different from yours. And my view is

likely distinctive from someone else’s interpretation. To me, it
is something I do each day that reinforces who I truly am while
connecting me to something bigger than me.

Your spiritual practice is unique to you. For instance, I could be

hiking or playing music or even baking. It’s not the what you do as
much as the connection you create.

And the reason to use the word “practice” is to emphasize that

it’s about doing something over and over which creates a habit
that allows you to grow. Instead of looking at a spiritual practice
as a way to perfect something. Consider your practice as a way to
improve and get better.

We can all improve. We can get better at listening to our inner

voice, get better at seeing signs, get better at balancing life, or a
whole host of other things.

A practice becomes part of your lifestyle. It’s something that you

build upon. When you commit to making it an essential part of
your life, it easily fits in as part of your day. In the beginning, make
time for this practice, so you don’t let other things in your life take
over.

It’s about choice.

Choose clarity by making your practice a priority.

124
HOW TO STOP HIDING AND START SEEKING

Choose awareness by making your practice a necessity in your day.

Choose joy when you make your practice a regular part of your life.

Choose calm because your practice will ground you.

Choose you.

When you decide that you are your own top priority, your actions
will follow.

125
STAY CURIOUS

Curiosity is how I describe living fully. Being curious is an action

that makes one look outside and want to learn. It creates interac-
tion and understanding. It is actively becoming aware of others and
your surrounding. Mostly, I believe that being curious is listening
with intention.

In this quest to find answers to your questions, I believe one way to

continue to find the answers is to listen more. Tune in to your inner
voice. But be mindful of the knowledge you can gain by listening
to others. Nature is an incredible teacher. If you stop to listen then
you will notice a great deal about the life around you as well as the
life within you.

Curiosity can lead you places you didn’t know existed. It can open
up possibilities and opportunities that will expand your life. When
you are willing to admit you don’t know everything, then you are
also open to the fortune that comes from what you discover.

If you stay curious, your passions will increase, and your life will
become fuller. It’s simple really. Stay passionately curious.

By remaining satisfied, you stay stagnant. If you welcome new ways

and other views, then you are cultivating a thirst for more. Life is
meant to be lived, and it is more fun when you enthusiastically
pursue what lights you up. Open up and follow your gut.

Make your life an adventure and become your own pioneer. Carve
your own path. Don’t follow what others are doing for the sake of
staying in a lane like I did. Be confident in yourself to charge ahead.
Research and planning are fine, but it’s not the same as using your
gut to experience something.

126
HOW TO STOP HIDING AND START SEEKING

You can choose. You can be you. Living your life is about living your
truth. Find you way make it uniquely your own. Embrace the life
you are meant to live.

Taking steps to live your soul’s purpose is not always easy. It’s hard
to release the old version of yourself to make room for your true
self. Take the tough steps to release the things in your life that no
longer light you up.

Then, make a conscious decision to dig deeper. Get to the root.

Don’t give up when it gets uncomfortable. And then practice what
fills you with joy, what you determine to be your passion, and
through this you find yourself.

As you follow your intuition, you are becoming more aware of

everything around you. The questions that arise can be answered
from within. I’m not making light of that statement by simplifying
it. I don’t underestimate the work that goes into learning to hear
your inner voice. But you can do it.

Take the time to listen. Trust what you hear, see, feel and know.
Trust yourself, and steer your own transformation. When you stay
curious about life, then you will be led to your purpose.
