You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for
you as an example. / A continuación verá imágenes de cinco ciudades y sus

New York is a big city in the


United States (North
America). It takes thousand
of visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central
Park, the Metropolian
museum and Time’s Square.
In the picture you can see the
Statue of Liberty, a monumet
built between 1875 and 1986.
It is 93 meters tall. The statue

is located on Liberty Island in
the Hudson River.
Rome is the capital of Italy, in
Rome we find St. Peter's
Square, it is one of the most
recognized places in the world.
In the center of the square, the
obelisk and the two fountains
stand out, one by Bernini (1675)
and the other by Maderno
(1614). The 25-meter high
obelisk was brought to Rome
from Egypt in 1586. The most
spectacular way to get to St.
Peter's Square is the Via de la
Conciliazione, a long street that
Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square begins at Castel Sant'Angelo.
Sydney, the capital of New
South Wales and one of
Australia's largest cities, is
famous for its Sydney Harbor-
side Opera House, featuring a
distinctive candle-shaped
design.
Sydney Tower's outer deck, the
Skywalk, offers 360-degree
views of the city and suburbs.
From there we can apreciated
the sea and and the imposing
Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Sydney (Australia) – The Sydney Opera
House
Edinburgh Castle is an old
fortress that makes up one of
the most iconic places in the
city, as well as one of the most
visited. With more than a million
visitors a year, the castle stands
imposingly on the hill of Castle
Hill offering majestic views of
the city center.
It is located over the mountain,
of an impressive 700 million
year old extinct volcano on
Castle Rock Hill. This hill has
been inhabited since the Bronze
Edinburgh (Scotland) – Edinburgh Castle Age, around 850 BC, and a
royal castle has existed on the
site since at least the 12th
century.
The Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper
located in Dubai (United Arab
Emirates). At 828 meters high, it
is the tallest structure on record
in history and it is one of the
most modern and spectacular
buildings in current architecture.
Burj Khalifa is the central part of
a development known as
Downtown Dubai, a 2 km²
complex located next to Sheikh
Zayed Avenue, which crosses
the city of Dubai. Construction
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj began on January 6, 2004, with
Khalifa its official inauguration on
January 4, 2010. It is named
after the Sheikh and President
of the United Arab Emirates,
Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
