Opening Image (p1-2)

Theme Stated (p5 or 6)

Set Up (p1-11) the main character and his partner are teamed up with a prophetic
guide. They are entrusted with guiding and guarding the “hero of the prophecy.” The
prophecy is introduced as well, which states the enemy and the need for the current,
anemic and inbred hero to destroy them.

Catalyst (p13) The first major battle in a town overtaken by the creatures and a
lesser controller are thwarted and the new hero seems to be finding his own in line
with destiny, but one last creature kills him out of the blue.

Debate (p13-28) The team is shocked. Once this fades, they quickly divide on their
views. The guide believes they should return to the others, admit they have failed,
take their punishments, and await a new hero that fits the prophetic bill. The main
character’s partner worries that the punishment will be quite severe and wants to
run or at least carry on pretending to give them time. As the discussion continues,
the guide attempts to leave and carry out his plan.

Break Into Act Two (p28) The main character decides that they must continue on
with the mission, even without the hero alive. The MC and his partner kidnap the
guide so she cannot give them up, and to get aid on finding and destroying the
enemy.

B Story (p34) The relationship between the members of this team is the side story
that reflects the underlying theme: Heroism as a birthright or an earned position as
well as faith compared to trust. The central theme is can anything be inherent or are
all things learned or built through experience.

Promise of Premise (p34-62) MC and partner fight and fill the various creatures on
their way to the leader, while also hiding the death of the hero from those of their
order, and keeping the guide from escaping while battling their doubts exacerbated
by the guide and the controllers’ arguments.

Midpoint (p62) the team is able to carry the hero’s corpse to the heart of enemy
territory, confident in their plan to defeat the controllers’ leader.

Bad Guys Close In (p62-84) However, their attempt to hide was not as well executed
as they thought. The partner’s rash behavior combined with the MC’s worry and
caution led to their cover slipping. An attempt to escape notice from their order led
them straight into a den of creatures and controllers.

All Is Lost (p84) After the battle, the team is beaten down and the guide escapes.
Dark Night of the Soul (p84-96) The MC knows that their cover is blown. With little
will to fight, and questioning their ability to continue the journey, the MC and
partner discuss possible plans and pitfalls.

Break Into Act Three (p96) The partner and MC are able to come to an agreement
that they must continue, even knowing that their punishment either way is dire.
Their bond is closer than ever.

Finale (p96-122) The duo, now understanding the importance of their mission, and
how important it is to follow what they trust to be true, devise a plan
