E-Business Strategy Analysis

Summary of the management

Strategic planning involves assessing the business environment and selecting the direction for
a company organisation's future. We analyse the sort of firm in which the company operates,
current rival, current performance and changes in business and markets. This report outlines
an effort of strategic e-business based on the case study of ZETA community. The division
into three parts comprises the ZETA business and environmental analysis using relevant
business analytical instruments presented in the module, including PEST, SWOT and the 5
Forces of Porter, to analyse and identify current competitive environment. Second, the
proposal to adopt certain tools and concepts for information system in order to offer the
competitive advantage and satisfaction of customers. The third section of the paper focuses
on evaluating organisational transformation focusing on human, process and organisational
elements and on issues related to change management.

Introduction

Naomi Porat, Marc Porat and Shilpa Sankaran started ZETA or Zero Energy Technology and
Architecture Communities in January 2008. ZETA had the objective, by means of off-site
construction, to develop a new technique of supplying inexpensive, energy- efficient, urban
and commercial housing. The creators saw an enormous opportunity to improve the existing
factory building processes to provide higher quality, faster time for manufacturers and lower
prices, while achieving better environmental and health performance. Ship Sankaran is the
Chairman and Vice President, Marc Porat is the Chairman. Ship Sankaran is the Chairman of
Ship Sankaran. ZETA has developed a research relationship, a global project to support the
development of cost efficient and energy-efficient building techniques, with the Energy
Department's (DOE), "building America programme." Today's market problems are high
urban housing costs, poor building practises and fast rising CO2 emissions. The undertaking
began in 2007, when the US was confronted with one of the biggest housing crises in recent
history. Both the local and national immobilisation markets were nearly standing, public
financing for affordable housing disappeared, and housing prices dropped every day. Global
carbon dioxide concentrations grew dramatically, with 380 parts per million in 2006 hitting
the highest levels in human history. In 2003 through 2005 the liberal distribution of subprime
mortgages propelled rates and values to the sky producing what is now called the US Home
Bubble. The collapse of the housing blister, an increasing economic slump, rising energy
prices and an increasing interest in green construction methods were at the junction of the
many market dynamics when Marc, Naomi and Shilpa were developing their new enterprise.

Section 1 - Strategic Assessment

This component seeks to offer an understanding of the strengths and effects of the
organisation so that strategic decisions can be identified. The primary aim is to analyse and
comprehend the ZETA and building industry's environment, culture and resources. PEST
analysis - Analysis of the nature of the environment is the three tools we use today Five
Forces of Porter Model – Analysis of market competition SWOT Analysis - Analysis of
dangers and possibilities.

PEST testing
The Pest Analysis is the environmental analysis in which a company works or prefers to offer
business. It is an external macro-environmental examination that affects all companies.
P.E.S.T is an acronym for the external macro-political, environment's economic, social and
technological components. An overview of the complete scenario the company could be in is
provided through plague analysis. Precisely it's a bird's eye view of your firm and business
stimuli and scenarios.

Competition between existing rivals

In this sector, the leading role of ZETA has been played by several leading competitors as
Pulte/Centex, Palm Harbour, Champion, Clayton, toll brothers, Guerdon, Project Frog,
Clarum and Living Homes. Pulte has recently announced the provision of home-energy
efficiency labels to enable consumers to compare energy saving across their homes, in
conjunction with the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) a renowned
independent energy performance agency. Pulte was placed second in the research of 2010
assessing the green building practises of the ten largest home builders in the country based on
energy use, use of building materials, consumption of food and land uses. Every year,
Silvercrest constructed 200-300 homes for $70 to $100 per square foot (not including
transportation, installation or site preparation costs). Homes in California and Pacific
Northwest may be found in Silvercrest's subdivisions and mainly contained single family and
urban house goods. Founded in 2006, with the support of New England's Rockport Capital
Partners as early as 2008, Project Frog has been making inroads on the school market with
state-of-the-art energy efficient and green materials—setting it up for modern modular
construction projects. As with ZETA, Project Frog has expanded its focus, first to the
educational market primarily then lately to the light business sector.

Power of the supplier

ZETA has a principal investor, the two-coast risk capital company called North West Venture
Partners. They were interested in ZETA as they were the only investor who could understand
ZETA's premise that a 50 percent reduction in time for market would transform the
construction industry, along with a new energy efficient building technology. They have
invested five million dollars.

Power of purchase

In 2007, the United States was faced in the last history with a major housing crisis. Both the
local and national immobilisation markets were nearly standing, public financing for
affordable housing disappeared, and housing prices dropped every day. This economic
scenario implied that ZETA product demand would be limited, irrespective as the solution
would be limited.

Threat of replacement

A green classroom product, Gen7, was developed in American Modular Systems 2009, a
national, modular building firm that manufactures commercial and institutional modular
structures. Gen 7 was the first modular classroom to acquire a new school building approval
stamp from California High Performance Schools (CHPS). For more than a 10-year period,
other players, such as Meehleis, Enviroplex and William Scotsman, have just began to
convert their school products to a more ecologically friendly design
New Enterprise Threat

The fact that another construction competitor has 30-40 years' expertise and reputation in the
business and suppliers have confidence in it is now a bit tricky for a new company to enter
this market. In the current scenario, a new company would find it a bit tough to enter its
brand on this market, arrange suppliers, arrange funds and make enough profit.

The objective is to provide a new approach for the supply of inexpensive, energy-efficient
urban and commercial structures using off-site buildings. Proposal for value, which describes
its value contributed and competitive advantage Improving or redefining products and

Section 2 – Tools for e-business

Clear definition and how these tools can improve the current situation in terms of efficiency,
efficiency, innovation and justification of proposals, define the necessary e-business tools for
a new IT-enabled service previously mentioned in the value proposition • Rationale and
feasibility of ideas in accordance with Section 1 environmental analysis (explain how the
business tools will help the organisation at its strategic direction) ZETA can be used to
enhance business efficiency, communication and resource planning also by implementing a
new e-business. This function can be done with an ERP, an EDI and a CRM system. In
specifics below, I'll go into each.

Back-office ink ink systems (CRM) ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) (operational
support). Organizations utilise this system for managing day-to-day operations, including
accounting, procurement, project management and manufacturing. They are frequently built
around a common, well-defined database structure. ERP works instead of multiple isolated
databases on the principle of core data coaction for broad distribution. (BOARD, 2013) ERP
system business value is inconsistent

Enhanced efficiency - Through a common user experience in numerous business operations

and

Enhanced business understanding - Real-time report information

Consistent infrastructure – All company operations have the same look and feel from back
office to front office.

Reduction in operating and management costs - Uniform, integrated systems -

Risk reduction - increased integrity of data and financial controls

Exceed current customer satisfaction requirements.

ERP ZETA ZETA ERP system can work with ZETA staff, as the data kept in tablets and
excels require a lot of human effort and a lot of time is required for updating. ERP can be
accessed from anywhere, and reports can be printed from any device easily, saving time and
enhancing productivity. ERP system can enable management to decide on business quickly
and strategically since they have a timely date. It provides data security only to those people
with the permission to view the information. It provides data security. It also cuts the
operative costs of manufacture, construction and business development by keeping
coordination between different divisions.

Electronic Information Exchange (EDI) allows business documents to be sent in a

standardised format between organisations. The goal of EDI is to reduce duplicate data entry
by linking Computer applications with firms, and to increase the rate and accuracy of
information flow. (NETEDI 2008) 2009 The EDI system's business value is cheaper than
conventional paper techniques EDI incudes

Can remove manual input and prevent mistakes

The workload of the office staff can be removed

Improves operational efficiency and accuracy of data

Trading partners exchange papers including purchase orders, shipment manifests, invoices
and receipts over computer networks more quickly than traditional mail

Support for just-in-time Communications speeding up boosts inter-company operations,

reducing inventory costs substantially. The supplier ships only the essential items and arrives
straight at the production line or installation line.
