For over three decades Marathon products have delivered lasting protection of onshore and offshore
structures in the toughest conditions nature can provide. Marathon products are recognised for their
superior protection of structures exposed to the harshest environments.
The foundation for this strength and endurance is a combination of high build, high abrasion resistance and
high volume solids.

UNRIVALLED STRENGTH AND ENDURANCE

Marathon 1000 XHB and Marathon 1000 GF deliver superior impact and abrasion
resistance – living up to the 30 year heritage of the Marathon brand.

The Marathon 1000 products can be applied up to 1000 µm in one coat. This forms a
solid barrier against the elements, giving excellent protection over an extended time.

Multiple layers of glass flakes in the film give enhanced performance to the strong epoxy
resin. The glass flakes improve the barrier effect and minimise volumetric shrinkage. In addition they also
improve cohesion and adhesion strength of the cured coating film.

Marathon 1000 GF is NORSOK pre-qualified for systems 1, 4 and 7.

Low emissions of VOCs – only 40 g/l – mean that Marathon 1000 products
deliver better performance than most other high build solvent free epoxies.

No need for extra thinning on site to ensure they obtain ideal application properties.

Marathon 1000 contains no mutagenic substances – like phenols, which are often used in similar types
of product. In addition there is no emission of di-isocyanates and both Marathon products pass the
analytical test at IFKAN.

Marathon 1000 products are easy to apply with standard application equipment.

Traditional glass flake epoxies have difficulty in achieving a smooth finish – whereas
both Marathon 1000 GF and Marathon 1000 XHB have good flow properties and give a
smooth finish.

The Marathon 1000 products are epoxy based, which is a technology with well known
application properties and predictable life-time expectations.

They are the only products of their kind that will dry and cure at temperatures as low as 5°C.
