za —— 1. Introduction © The first element of a book report contains the basic information about the book. In the introduction to the book, the report writer clearly states the full title and author's name together with the place of publication, the name of the publisher and the year of publication. » In the introduction, the genre and a brief synopsis are given. For instance, for a fiction, introduce the setting and main characters. For nonfiction, introduce the topic and the relevance of the book. Give a broad overview of the book to create interest in the rest of the book report. - ody / ic © The body of a book report offers a summary of the book. The summary of the material should be presented in the same order as they occur in the book itself. Your summary need not include every element of the book, but should give the reader a basic idea of what the book contains. * i = _ fiction an otner ence writing: © Provide brief descriptions of the setting, the point of view (who tells the story), the protagonist, and other major characters. If there is a distinct mood or tone discuss that as well. © Give a concise plot summary. Along with the sequence of major events, you may indicate the book's climax and resolution. What are the important conclusions? © Do not try to summarize each chapter or every angle. Choose the ones that are most significant and interesting to you. - ritique and Opinion = © The last element ina book report is your critique and opinion of the book. Your evaluation of the book tells your reader how much thought you have put into your reading. In your tritique, write about what you liked or disliked about the book and how you thought the author dealt with the theme of the book. Fora fiction, critique may mean analyzing the characters and how they evolved throughout the book. For nonfiction it may mean evaluating how well the author knew the subject and how well-researched you found the information to be. Readers would want to know whether you recommend the book to them.
