INTRODUCTION TO WEB DESIGNING

Q1) what is web designing?

Web design is the process of creating a website. It can be for an ecommerce site

or a blog, but anything related to the appearance of a website falls under the

“design” umbrella.

Elements of Web Design:

Web design uses many of the same key visual elements as all types of design such

as:

Layout: This is the way the graphics, ads and text are arranged. In the web world,

a key goal is to help the view find the information they seek at a glance. This

includes maintaining the balance, consistency, and integrity of the design.

Colour: The choice of colours depends on the purpose and clientele; it could be

simple black-and-white to multi-coloured design, conveying the personality of a

person or the brand of an organization, using web-safe colours.

Graphics: Graphics can include logos, photos, clipart or icons, all of which

enhance the web design. For user friendliness, these need to be placed

appropriately, working with the colour and content of the web page, while not

making it too congested or slow to load.

Fonts: The use of various fonts can enhance a website design. Most web

browsers can only read a select number of fonts, known as “web-safe fonts”, so

your designer will generally work within this widely accepted group.

Content: Content and design can work together to enhance the message of the

site through visuals and text. Written text should always be relevant and useful,

so as not to confuse the reader and to give them what they want so they will

remain on the site. Content should be optimized for search engines and be of a

suitable length, incorporating relevant keywords.

Q2) what is Website?

A website or site is a virtual location on the World Wide Web. It contains several

webpages and data files that Internet users can access through a browser.

Explorer, for example, is a browser. Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, are also

browsers.

Every website has its own unique URL, i.e., website address. If you type that

address at the top of your browser, the homepage of your target website will

appear.

Every site’s web address starts with ‘http://’. ‘http’ stands

for HyperText Transfer Protocol’, which allows for the retrieval of linked resources

from across the World Wide Web (WWW).

The homepage is the default or start-up page on a browser. In other words, is the

website’s introductory page, which typically serves as a table of contents for the

whole site.

Q3) what is webpage?

A web page is a hypertext document displayable by a browser. Such documents

are written in the HTML language. A web page can embed a variety of different

types of resources such as:

Style information — controlling a page's look-and-feel

Scripts — which add interactivity to the page

Media — images, sounds, and videos.

Note: Browsers can also display other documents such as PDF files or images, but

the term web page specifically refers to HTML documents. Otherwise, we only use

the term document.

All web pages available on the web are reachable through a unique address. To

access a page, just type its address in your browser address bar.
Q4) what are the different types of website?

Dynamic and Static Websites:

In general, dynamic means capable of action and/or change, while static means

stationary or fixed. Dynamic and Static websites are terms used to describe two

types of sites and the method they use to display. Here we will explore what the

terms mean for web design.

Static Websites:

A Static Website (sometimes called a flat or stationary page) is displayed in a web

browser exactly as it is stored. It contains web pages with fixed content coded in

HTML and stored on a web server. It does not change, it stays the same, or "static"

for every viewer of the site.

A static website does not require web programming or database design. Static is

the most basic form of website and are the most simple to create and are perfect

for small scale sites. Maintaining a large number of static pages can become a

time consuming and impractical hassle very quickly. If you require a website with

hundreds of pages and a ton of content, a dynamic website may be for you.

Advantages

 Quick and easy to develop

 Cheap to host and develop

Disadvantages

 Content can become stagnant

 Requires web development expertise to update

Dynamic Websites:

A Dynamic Website (also referred to as a database-driven site) requires web

programming and database design. A dynamic website contains information and

content that changes, depending on factors such as the viewer of the site, the
time of the day, the time zone, or the native language of the country the viewer).

The content of your site (text/images) is stored on a database or content

management system. When the information is updated or changed within the

database, it changes on the site.

Advantages

 Less hassle to update

 More functionality

 Dynamic (changing) content draws visitors back to site

 Dynamic content helps in search engines

Disadvantages

 Relatively slow performance in comparison with a static site

Q5) what is the internet?

The internet is the world’s most popular computer network. It began as an

academic research project in 1969, and became a global commercial network in

the 1990s. Today it is used by more than 2 billion people around the world.

Most people access internet content using a web browser. Indeed, the web has

become so popular that many people incorrectly treat the internet and the web as

synonymous. But in reality, the web is just one of many internet applications.

Other popular Internet applications include email and BitTorrent.

Q6) who runs the internet?

No one runs the internet. It’s organized as a decentralized network of networks.

Thousands of companies, universities, governments, and other entities operate

their own networks and exchange traffic with each other based on voluntary

interconnection agreements.
Q7) what’s an IP address?

Internet Protocol addresses are numbers that computers use to identify each other

on the internet. For example, an IP address for anudip.org is 13.235.205.147

Q8) What are Computer Servers?

Computers, which we call ‘servers, store or host files or documents that make up

websites. When you instruct your browser to look at a website, it sends a request

through the Internet to the server where that site is hosted. The server then

responds by sending that page back to your browser.

The browser presents that data on your screen in a way that makes sense to you.

In other words, the browser is an ‘interpreter.’

Each webpage generally has hyperlinks, i.e., words or images that take you

somewhere. They may take you either to another webpage within the same site

or another website. They can also take you to another part of the same page.

Q10) what is Front-End Development?

The front-end is built using a combination of technologies such as Hypertext

Markup Language (HTML), JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

Front-end developers design and construct the user experience elements on the

web page or app including buttons, menus, pages, links, graphics and more.

HTML:

Hypertext Markup Language is the core of a website, providing the overall design

and functionality.

The most recent version was released in late 2017 and is known as HTML5.2.

The updated version includes more tools aimed at web application developers as

well as adjustments made to improve interoperability.

CSS:

Cascading style sheets give developers a flexible, precise way to create

attractive, interactive website designs.

JavaScript:

This event-based language is useful for creating dynamic elements on static

HTML web pages.

It allows developers to access elements separate from the main HTML page, as

well as respond to server-side events.

Front-end frameworks such as Angular, Ember, Backbone, and React are also

popular. These frameworks let developers keep up with the growing demand for

enterprise software without sacrificing quality, so they’re earning their place as

standard development tools.

Q11) what is Back-End Development?

The back-end, also called the server side, consists of the server which provides

data on request, the application which channels it, and the database which

organizes the information.

For example, when a customer browses shoes on a website, they are interacting

with the front end.

After they select the item they want, put it in the shopping cart, and authorize

the purchase, the information is kept inside the database which resides on the

server.

A few days later when the client checks on the status of their delivery, the

server pulls the relevant information, updates it with tracking data, and presents

it through the front-end.

There are a wide variety of frameworks and languages used to code the

application, such as Ruby on Rails, Java, C++/C/C#, Python and PHP.

Q12) what is Full-Stack Development?

The development of both the back- and front-end systems has become so

specialized, it’s most common for a developer to specialize in only one.
