ARGUMENTATIVE TEXT

Last Tuesday, the major network, an entertainment, and reliable news and
information source for Filipinos, bid farewell amidst the pandemic we face. In this time of
grave pandemic– where information is crucial for our survival and where the
accountability on government’s inadequate response to COVID-19 is paramount– the
closure of ABS-CBN throws us into darker depths although some channels still exist.
Also, thousands of staffs of the said network are affected because they just lose their
jobs during this crisis. In the worst time of sickness and hunger, maybe the government
lost sight of the real enemy. ABS-CBN, free media is not the enemy– COVID is. We are
currently facing a lot of problems but our government chose to focus on what is not
necessary. I think it is not reasonable for ABS-CBN to shut down because everyone
basically grew up with ABS-CBN.
