As I’ve watched the video, I noticed that the crew members acquire the knowledge and the skills

while
they are demonstrating the safety practices on-board. They are all well-disciplined in a way that they
know exactly what to do in certain emergency situations. They are fully aware when it comes to their
responsibilities on-board because they know how to act and perform their job well.

I appreciate all the crew members in the video but the one crew member that captured my interest is
the man in the second video that discovered a smoke in a room. It is necessary to report immediately in
the bridge because it can cause such a big destruction. The very first he did is he pressed the nearest
fire alarm and alerts the bridge right away after he discovered the smoke. He then closed the nearest
door to help contain the fire. The last thing he did is to evacuate the area. I am amazed because he stays
calm and he seems much trained when it comes to emergency like that.

Performing drills on-board plays a very important role in a ship as it prepares the crew as well as the
passengers in case of emergency situations. Preparation in a way that you should expect the unexpected
because even though a ship may be well-built with a well-trained crew, accident may happen anytime
and anywhere that can result to various casualties. Providing drill scenarios as similar to real life
situations is the best way to practice so that you will be able to save yourself as well as the passengers
relying on you.

As a future seafarer, I can do it as well. In order to do this, I need to be a well-trained crew. Also, I need
to participate and take drills on-board seriously as if it is going to happen in real life. Even it is too risky
to work on a ship, I will do my very best to attend the needs of the passengers for their own safety.
Conducting drills should not be just a duty required, but a chance to improve skills, knowledge, and
safety of the crew and of the vessel.
