HUMAN CONTROL AROUND CLIMATE CHANGE 3
Can humans reverse the effects of pollution or is the damage to great to combat?
What do we know about human control, and how we affect the climate? I’m not a climate
scientist, and I do not analyze climate change. I have over the years followed the devastating
depletion of our planets' fossil fuels and resources by large corporations. Several times in my
past I witnessed the planets oceans being used as dumping grounds for chemicals and trash.
On a trip through Indonesia, I visited the famous Bali beach. In the evening I found myself
swimming through swarms of plastic bags and trash left by the day's holiday makers. Several
friends of mine once chained themselves to trees and lived in tree houses. This was done in the
hope of saving a forest (close to where I lived) from its destruction by a large mining company.
These are just some personal experiences of how humans have an unwittingly diverse affect in
All of these and other experiences changed the way I lived, and how I perceived the way other
people lived, and treated our planet. I created and began to build a self-sustainable community
with several friends. We submitted all the correct documents to the local council, and were
rewarded with a reclaimed derelict house. The house was quickly renovated, and we moved in.
We grew our own fruit and vegetables; used reclaimed wood, built our own log burning stoves,
and recycled the ashes into the vegetable patches soil. Water buts harvested rain water and we
build solar panels for power. All of this was our attempt at making a change possible, and
If you are not aware of the problems, we face with our environment and pollution, then you just
might be involved in causing its destruction. This is an old adage but a true one. It is time for us
to stop being a part of the problem and instead become a part of the solution.
HUMAN CONTROL AROUND CLIMATE CHANGE 5
Our leaders hold the power and the key to solving the climate change problem. They have known
since the fifties and sixties that the earth's atmosphere was steadily warming. This as we all know
has been due to the massive increase in greenhouse gasses. They chose to do nothing about it
because of the wealth big corporations received from the sale of fuels such as oil, coal, timber
and gas.
Humans are responsible for the devastating changes to the earths ecosystems. There has been
more destruction over the last fifty years than in any another time in history. With the rapid
growth in population came a higher demand for fresh water, fibers, building materials and
endless other resources. We have now reached critical overpopulation and drastic measures are
Leaders around the world have already begun to effect weather patterns which could cause even
more irreducible damage. Human activity has been the primary cause of global warming, and we
are all guilty. Awareness, and a move away from the resources we have all been so reliant on for
decades is the only key to saving and controlling our planets climate.
HUMAN CONTROL AROUND CLIMATE CHANGE 6
The recent lock-downs were in par with the environmental agenda, and some named them the
environment lock-downs. The people who control this agenda are taking advantage of this
situation by controlling the populations of the world instead of educating them further.
In 2010 one hundred and ninety-four countries agreed to cut their environmental footprint by
2020 but this has now been pushed back to 2030. The United Nations also set sustainable
development goals in 2015. Whilst most countries have not achieved their goals, there are some
that have. Scotland has achieved 100% renewable electricity, with China also reaching its goals.
Germany and Denmark are also on track, along with many other European countries. The world
governments tell us everyone needs to accomplish environmental goals if we are to reverse the
The recent changes in human behavior and consumption have been partly due to the environment
agenda, and COVID-19 has been used to stop further encroachment of human activities. Without
global environmental change the threat to eco systems and biodiversity are astronomical. Our
health along with economic development and security around the world will all suffer the
The solution to our climate change problem seems to be a combination of solar power, wind
turbines, hydro power and a massive effort worldwide to reduce our carbon footprint.
We need to reduce our use of fossil fuels and make sure they are utilized properly. The need to
stop burning coal and stop burning oil is high on the list. Many companies and people have
discovered ways to reduce our use of the earths' resources. Some examples of this would be
plastic bricks, converters for car engines, using trash for solar power, and many more. All of
these replacements for fossil fuels have been ignored for the sake of big business.
There have also been developments in the clean-up, and reuse of our oceans and rivers. This
must continue to make sure all of the plastic in the ocean is collected and recycled.
We need to develop a worldwide agenda, global recycling program to reduce our demand on
resources.
There is one outstanding deliberation here about how humans have controlled and destroyed the
climate. That would be to think about our children's' future and just what kind of environment we
