CHAPTER FOUR

4.0 WIRING INSTALLATION IN 9NOS. OF ONE SELF-CONTAIN

BUNGALOW WITHOUT ELECTRICAL DRAWING, LOCATED AT
JANRUWW IN KANAZOU AREA, KADUNA STATE. (30 APRIL, 2020)

4.1 rojects. Installation of lighting, power outlets and other accessories

(electrical only (in a nos. of slf-contain bungalow

Position. Site / electrical engineer background of the project

Newly constructed blocks of residential houses that are to be provided with

electrical facilities for suage by the would be occupants. The hole apartments are
intended to serve as rented accommodation to those who couldn’t afford to build
theirs.

4.2 DESIGN ANALYSIS

Some the owner did not buy the idea of spending money on electrical working
drawing (EWD( TO BE drawn before implementation.

But having the requisite professional knowledge in the field of practice, I went
ahead to split the whole process into three consece five parts. Piping, wiring and
fittings respectively

a. Piping. This is the first stage where by marked areas for positioning of
switches, sockets, lighting are break open for laying of comdiut (20mm2( in
conjunction with knockout boxes. Finally a good proportion of sand,
comment and water are mixed together there by choking up the pipes to
fasten it to the wall. Following provisions were made
i. 13 amps. Sockets outlet 5 Nos.
ii. 15 amps. Sckets outlet 2 Nos.
iii. Lighting points 11 Nos.
iv. Water heater point 1 Nos.
v. Cooker unit point 1 No.
vi. Switch points 6 Nos.

Writing. In this second second stage, electrical copper condueting cable of

various siges where drawn in the conduit pipes there were installed earlier
for the lighting points the recommended cable sige is 1.5mmor1.omm2 on
the test (IEE wiring Regulations (. For the sockets, it is recommended that
2.5mm2 copper conductor sige should be used. For 13 amps outlets. The
15amps and cooker unit outlets are to make use of amm2 because of the his
rated appliances that are to connected in that circuit. The water heat arcut
will also use 2.5mm2 copper cable conduct sige. The quotation for this stage
is shown below.

FITTINECS. This stage conduces the process, were fitting to match the
various points exeated are fixed to bring out the beauty of such edifice
especially when light is supplied to the whole building. The fittings are
having connection ports attachied to them where by likers and scrws are
lighten to hold the cable to the switch. Down the switch are two ports where
the control (bramch) Enter so that the point of light can make the supply to
flow and break (off). But if the two port are simult ameously use, we call
that <a two-way <in conjunction with another switch position in the
different position. One with <E> for earth proper connection should be made
and screws should also be lightening in other that problems commit be
created in the circuit unknowingly. The cost of these fitting are given below

S/ DESCRIPTION (ITEMS) QTY RATE AMOUNT

N
1 13 amp (3x3) sockets 5 150 750
2 15 amp (3x3) sockets 2 200 400
3 1 gang switch 3 10 10
4 2 gang switch 1 50 100
5 3 gang switch 2 150 300
6 Earth leakage circuit Breaker 1 2000 2000

7130

Table 4.2.3 fitting matorial

The complete cost of a fiat will be 1065+ 25000+7130 = 42780

Therefore for nine(a) flat will amount to 42780 x 9 = N 385,020

CHAPTER FIVE

5.0 Introduction

Here of practice in post-graduation working experience which a glad to be a part in

it.

5.1 Conclusion

Working with SET TECH ENEINEERIMIGLTD and in my private practice of

engineering added with that of Nesco NIG.LTD respectively has really exposed me
to mama gerial and engmeering practice which therefore qualifies me to be
considered for the corporate Membership of the Nigeria society of Engmeers. I will
abide by all the rules, code of professional ethic and conduct guiding the society if
registered so as to enhance my professional competency, thereby participating in
nation building.

5.2 RECOMMENDATIONS

By virtue of work experience, cadence aehuvemen, I summit that;

1. You oan’t know it all, as things keep changing and evolving, we should take
advantage only through continuous learning (re-training).
2. Nigeria society of engineers should lease with our standard organization of
Nigeria in adding indigenous input standards that are in line with global
standard practice.
