Solar Water Disinfection

- According to ctc-n.org (2017), solar radiation has been shown to be an excellent technique of
cleansing contaminated water. This is because infrared light damages the creation of DNA links
in microbes, rendering them incapable of reproducing and so harmless. Solar disinfection in
clear bottles, thermal disinfection (pasteurization) in opaque vessels with sunlight from solar
cookers or reflectors, and combination systems employing chemical coagulation-flocculation are
all listed by the World Health Organization as some of the most promising and accessible
technologies for household water treatment.

District Heating-Driven Membrane Distillation for Water Purification in Industrial Applications

- This thesis examines the technoeconomics of district heating-driven MD for water purification in
a variety of industrial settings. The research looks at the performance of MD separation and the
expenses associated with it in various district heating integration situations. The analyses are
based on three different types of semi-commercial MD modules, using laboratory and pilot scale
experiments. For the highlighted case studies, full-scale simulation simulations were carried out
based on experimental data received from the MD module as well as process information
gathered from the industries. The separation efficiency of 37 compounds was very good to
exceptional in the pharmaceutical residue removal pilot studies, with feed concentrations
ranging from ng/L to mg/L. The concentration of ethanol in alcohol-water feeds was increased
from 5% to approximately 90%. Simulation studies have shown that MD systems can be
integrated with district heating systems. Although the costs per unit volume of filtered water are
higher than those of competing technologies, the configurations allow for improved
environmental performance that would otherwise be difficult to attain.

Design and Construction of Solar Water Purifier

- Waterborne infections are quite widespread in Bangladesh due to a lack of clean drinking water.
Sixty percent of the population had to drink contaminated water. Another significant issue is the
energy dilemma. Traditional energy sources are finite, and they pollute the environment. These
issues can be overcome by purifying water with a renewable energy source such as solar
electricity. The solar water purifier is a step forward from the conventional water purifying
technology. This paper presents the design technique for a solar water purifier. Solar water
purifiers use solar energy as a source of energy and store it in a battery. Solar panel, battery,
heating coil, filtering chalk, double layer condenser, and multiple water vessels are the main
components of a solar water purifier. This purifier removes dirt from water with a filtering
mechanism and kills bacteria with a boiling mechanism. Pure drinking water is obtained using
this procedure.
