Installing, configuring and maintaining software/hardware : add/remove
hardware and software, configuring and customizing, maintenance
Fine tuning Windows appearance and performance : desktop and taskbar,
managing files and folders, user account control, power management, personalizing
windows appearance, optimizing performance
Device drivers : installing and configuring various device drivers like printer,
scanner, fax, display driver, sound card
Protection and Security : securing and controlling access to data, windows security
center, windows defender and firewall, antivirus (Microsoft Security Essential),
recycle bin
Routine maintenance and troubleshooting : general maintenance tools (disk
cleanup, defragmentation, automatic updates, check disk), backup, recovering after a
crash
Managing networks : mapping network infrastructure, TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6,
configuring dial-up and broadband connection, wireless networking
Browsing : browsers, search engines and optimal searching, browsing history,
cookies, temporary files, bookmarks
Installing Linux operating system : introduction to Redhat Linux, booting from
CD, preparation and installation of Redhat Linux, setting disk partition levels, setting
boot loader and first boot
File management and manipulation : file listings, ownership and permissions, file
and directory types, changing ownership and group, change mode
Configuring desktop : working with desktop control Center, creating and managing
users, creating and managing groups
Text editor : vi editor, operating modes, creating files, common commands used for
opening, closing, saving the files, cut, copy, paste, search and replace the text
