ART ANALYSIS

Young Woman at a Window is a 1925 oil on paper realist work by Salvador Dalí,
produced in his youth. It shows the painter's sister Ana Maria, seen from behind in front of a
window at Cadaqués. It is now in the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid.
I will present three main points in my analysis. First the painter used different colors that
makes the painting more attractive. As you can see in the picture he uses light colors and it
makes attractive. He uses colors like light blue and white which is so classy for me because it is
not heavy color. The main subject is easy to identify because of the color and the lines. It also
represents different kind of principles of art. The painter created a great subject that humans can
easily identify and understand. It is important that the audience can easily understand the
paintings. The subject of the painting is balanced to the background. Second the painter shows
different kind of representation for the people to easily understand. As you can see in the
painting that there are three representations like beach, mountain, window and a young woman.
You can feel that the painting had a deep meaning. For me the beach and the mountains
represents calmness. Lastly the painting shows that the woman is sad and she is hoping for the
brighter future ahead. It is a sad painting because the girl is lonely and trying to think about
happenings in life. She is hopeless but there will always be a positive part.
Life is always ups and downs but it’s up to the person on how she handles things
properly. This painting can be an inspiration to some people especially to the girls.
