Various Roles of a Teacher in the Society

Directions: Reflect on the discussed topics about the roles of teacher in the society. Recall
the many teachers you have met before entering the teaching course. Then
answer the following questions. Submission will be on August 20, 2021.

1. Write down your own developed concept of what a teacher is.

Teacher or what we call educator, is a person who helps students to acquire knowledge,
virtue or competence. Teacher is the one who teaches or instruct. They are the one who
has the authority to instruct or give instructions to the students. They also implement the
tasks and activities to promote effective growth and development of a student.

2. What personal qualities do you think a future teacher, like you, must cultivate to
become the best teacher he/she wants to be?
As a future teacher, the personal qualities that we must have and cultivate to become
the best teacher that we want is, first we should note that teaching is not that easy, but
it doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. It takes a lot of patience and hardwork to become the
best teacher. We all know that a teachers success begins with the success of their
students. We must believe in our students potential. Always have high expectations
for our students. We must learn everything we can about our field. Being
knowledgeable in our field of study is also a crucial stepping stone towards a
successful teaching career. It’s true that even the most successful teacher don’t know
everything. But, the more you know the easier it will be for us to teach our students
and to offer them prompt answer to their questions. Learning never stops and that’s
why as a future teacher, we must need to feed our minds with as much information as
it can take in. Remember that students always prefer consulting teacher who are
known to posses in-depth knowledge about a specific field. Be fun and energetic, we
must have this one, make a point of smiling each time we converse with our students.
Crack a joke or two and so on. Be creative and think outside the box. The strategies
we use to pass on information to our students need to be creative in a way that we
captures the attention of our classroom. Strive to make each learning lesson a
thrilling one for out students. This one can make our students fully engage during the
class. For me, as a future teacher, we need to be coherent. If we say something, stick
of it, if we say we are going to do something make sure you see it through. We need
to be consistent and decisive. Always be up to-date. A successful teacher knows how
important it is to abreast with the latest news, educational achievements, technology
and more. Communication is one of the powerful learning tool whether it is with a
students or with our parents.

3. What activities or advocacy do you intend to carry out in the community when you
become a teacher? Why?
If I became a teacher in the near future, as a teacher advocate, I will support and
encourage every students by speaking up about what they want, what they need and
what are their rights are. I will do this because I love my students, care about the
future of the profession and want to improve school and community. I will also
support and advocate the extensive awareness of sex education and global warming.
The young generation tends to view sex as a short term ecstasy. Teenage pregnancy,
HIV, premarital sex and unprotected sex is highly rampant, thus, I believe that having
an extensive awareness of sex education in our communities can aid this problem.
Regarding the global warming, I strongly believe that there is a need to open the eyes
of many that this is issue and not a joke. Our environment is already shouting for a
code red. People should stop taking this issue so lightly. We need to discipline
ourselves no matter how old we are, if we still want to see our future.
