Introduction

How can we learn to stay strong and find peace in the

midst of a spiritual battle? In this book, I will tell you my
side of the story of how I came out strong and victorious
from the spiritual attacks I had to face in my life. All of
us are going through different kinds of spiritual attacks
in our lives, so it is important to be aware of them and
know their signs so you can find peace in the middle of
them and let God fight your battles.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against

the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic
powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12).

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war

according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare
are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy
strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty
opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take
every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-
5).
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil,
prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to
devour. (1 Peter 5:8).

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and

he will flee from you. (James 4:7).

As said in Ephesians 6:12, our struggle is ultimately

against "spiritual forces of evil," meaning the real battle is
the spiritual warfare of good versus evil. There is a
spiritual war ongoing for the hearts of man, as the forces
of evil want to turn us away from God and separate us
from Him. But for those with God through Jesus, the
battle is already won as Christ overcame death with the
resurrection. We must be born again of spirit with faith
in Jesus to be saved from the "second" death of the spirit
(John 3).

The Bible tells us to be watchful and to guard our hearts

against the iniquity of sin. Evil can only enter us when
we allow it to live in our hearts, like a vampire who must
be let into your house. The first step to engage in this
grand spiritual warfare is to recognise it exists and
genuinely examine your heart. "For in the gospel, the
righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith
from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by
faith.” (Romans 1:17)

In the next few chapters of this book, you will read my

testimony of how I came out of spiritual attacks and how
God won it for me.
I pray this book will help you to learn to be spiritual alert
and how to discern evil spirits when it comes to facing
battles in your life and completely trust God in all
circumstances, as this will not only help you to win the
war in the spiritual realm but also come out of it
victorious.

This book will tell you about my own experience I was

facing when it comes to spiritual warfare and how
important it is and to be mindful of who you trust and
listen to, as the only one you can trust and lean on is God.

This book will also teach you to only listen to his voice
and know when God is talking to you. For it says in John
10:27: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow
Me.”

Our Almighty God can never fail or disappoint us. He is

the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come through
Him except through Jesus Christ.

Though the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy but

Jesus came so we can have life in abundance so let’s put
our trust in God and not in Man.
Chapter 1

God wants us to trust Him at all times,

meaning in every situation, in all
circumstances. We have to fully depend on him
and not ourselves or others.
(JEREMIAH 17:5)

The beginning of my testimony started when I found out

I was pregnant for the 3rd time. Normally at that point,
you would think, “Congratulations!” But I had to stay. It
wasn't a planned pregnancy, and I wasn't in a stable
relationship either. Although it was a surprise to me, it
was something that I knew God would give me as I
dreamt about it a lot and God usually talks to me in
dreams and visions. However, when I first found out
about the pregnancy, I was devastated as the father of the
child did not want the pregnancy and also wanted me to
abort it. Eventually, after spending some alone time with
God, I trusted Him that it happened for a reason, so I
mentally prepared myself to become a mother again and
developed some form of excitement for the baby.

I was about nine weeks pregnant when I began to develop

brown discharge which I never had when I was pregnant,
so I immediately knew something was off. I called my
midwife and she arranged for me to visit the Early
Pregnancy Unit to have a scan – they couldn't find
anything on the scan. They told me I needed to get a
blood test done to find out the cause, so I made an
appointment for Monday and went back home. On the
same day, later in the evening, I suddenly started to
develop cramps like when you have period pain.

I went to bed early as I thought I probably had a long

day, and my body is telling me to rest. But the pain got
stronger and stronger, and I started to get really worried.
It was already late at night, and I didn’t want to go back
to the hospital as I was very tired, so I tried to stay
positive that it will stop in the morning. I remember the
pain got worse, but I eventually fell asleep, although I
didn’t sleep much as the pain woke me up every hour or
so.

At 7 o’clock, I woke up with sharp pains. I felt pressure in

my rectum and then across my left side. I tried to move,
but it was very hard to do so. At this point, I thought I
must go to the hospital. I stood up and went to the toilet
as I had the urge to poo. Suddenly, I felt dizzy, so I knew
I have to go back to bed before I faint, but it was too late.
I passed out and collapsed on the bathroom floor.
I believe God was with me the whole time and protected
me because, at that point, I could have lost my life, but I
came back to myself and found the strength to stand up
and call the ambulance. They brought me to the A&E and
did several checks on me. After several hours have passed,
they finally found out the cause: I had an ectopic
pregnancy and, on the scan, they found blood clots and a
large amount of blood in my abdomen. My pregnancy
had ruptured, my left fallopian tube had burst. There was
only one option: I had to be taken to an emergency
surgery.

They removed the pregnancy and my left fallopian tube.

I had lost about a litre of blood, and I was incredibly
lucky to have survived it. I know it was God who saved
me. He kept me alive as he still had plans for me and my
mission here on this Earth has not begun. I still had to
fulfil my purpose!

You are able to read this book now

because God saved my life!

When I came out of the hospital, I was still weak from

the operation, so I had to rely on my friends to help me
with house chores and look after my children during this
time.

There was one particular friend whom I knew from my

previous workplace who suggested to help. I remember
we used to work together in the same company, but we
were more like work colleagues at that time. Some years
passed and it was around Christmas time when we
reconnected over social media. Since then, we spoke
regularly and we were also planning to meet up, but we
both had a busy schedule and lived far from each other
which made it more difficult to associate.

Eventually, she found out I was in the hospital. She

reached out to me. I told her everything that happened
and then she asked me if I needed help or support during
this difficult situation. I agreed for her to come over to
my place once I am back home from the clinic.

The day arrived when she came to my house, and we

happened to have a good conversation about life in
general and we talked about everything. We had a good
time, she helped me with laundry, we went out for a walk
to eat ice cream, took some photos together, had those
silly conversations which one would usually have with
their best friend about men and overall and just enjoyed
each other’s company. I quickly began to tell her my story
and what I was going through in my life. I literally told
her everything that was going on in my current situation,
without knowing that this was an opportunity for the
devil to make my life even more difficult. We spoke the
whole night until morning dawn.

She was very understanding and concerned about the

circumstances I was facing and said something needs to
change and that I cannot live a life like that anymore. I
agreed.
God has a plan for your life and
has created you for a purpose.
Therefore, it is important to trust in
Him no matter how bad the
circumstances may seem.

So, let me take you on a journey where I had to face

spiritual battles in my life. It was Friday and I remember
it was Prayer Vigil from at church, New Wine Church,
Woolwich London. I connected to join in the service via
Live Stream as usual. This friend of mine came over to
my place that day and decided to stay with me for the
next few days to help me with house chores and my
children as I was still weak from the operation.

When the evening came, we started to have a

conversation about everything that happened to me
recently. We sat outside on the balcony, and I told her
the whole scenario of the incident when I was admitted
to the hospital to get an operation. I have to mention at
this point that she was a smoker, that was why we sat
outside, but what I didn’t know was that she smoked
Cannabis occasionally as well. For those who don’t know
what Cannabis is, it is an illegal drug (in England and
many other countries) made from cannabis plant. Some
people smoke or eat cannabis. They smoke it on its own
or mix it with tobacco to make a ‘joint’ or ‘spliff’.
People use cannabis for different reasons. Sometimes
they use it to relieve mental or physical symptoms. This
is called self-medication. This may make you feel better
in the short term. But in the longer term, it can increase
problems or create new ones, not to mention that this
drug may lead to a doorway for demons to enter, which
we both were not aware of. Those who take any form of
drugs are usually out of their self-control, which means
they are open to the spiritual world. Sometimes, they see
or speak to unseen beings because their souls have been
trapped in an evil dimension by Satan.

You have to understand the danger of drugs, they are a

link to the realms of darkness and when you begin to
converse with demons, they will destroy your mind and
body and break your sense of reasoning as a child of God.
Therefore, it is so important to honour and glorify God
with our bodies. We read in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – “Or
do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy
Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not
your own, for you were bought with a price and glorify
God in your body.”

You have to realise that you do not have ultimate

authority over your body to do what you please. Your
body belongs to Christ! Your body is the dwelling place
of the Holy Spirit! Your body is to be used to honour and
glorify God!

On that note, let me continue my story…

When I began to tell her, what happened and explain to

her why I was admitted to the hospital, she started to get
very upset, so she kept making more ‘joints’ which was
like a relief to her. It started to get late into the night,
and I remembered that it was time to connect online to
the Night Vigil from my Church. So, I left it on in the
background whilst we continued our conversation.

She then mentioned we pray when it’s midnight. I was

surprised when she suggested praying as I pictured her
as a non-Christian because of how she treated her body.
But I thought, let me not judge her, so I agreed to it as I
didn’t see anything wrong in prayer. In fact, prayers are
very powerful.

To clarify this a bit more, she just finished smoking weed,

and so there was already an entry door open for the devil
as she said: “My spirit is getting angry; we need to pray!”
God has not given us a spirit of anger and what I didn’t
know was that it wasn’t the spirit of God which fell upon
her, for it says:

“Don’t let your spirit rush to be

angry, for anger abides in the heart
of fools.”
ECCLESIASTES 7:9 CSB

Also, if you read the story of Saul in the Bible, who was
anointed to be king of Israel, you will find out that the
evil spirit fell upon him right after he got angry.

In 1. Samuel 16:14 it says, “The Spirit of the LORD had

departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD
tormented him.” First, the evil spirit was “from” the Lord
in that it was allowed by God to harass Saul. Ultimately,
all created things are under God’s control, however Saul’s
disobedience exposed him to be tormented by an evil
spirit.

It is important to know that Saul had directly disobeyed

God on two occasions (1 Samuel 13:1–14; 15:1–35).
Therefore, God removed his Spirit from Saul and allowed
an evil spirit to torment him. Likely, Satan and the
demons had always wanted to attack Saul; God was now
simply giving them permission to do so.

So, as you can see here, when you continue to read the
story of Saul, he began to get furious just before the evil
spirit tormented him. (1. Samuel18:8-10)

Unfortunately, in the same way, it was with her, where

the evil spirit tormented her.

You are probably asking yourself right now, why would

God let something like that happen? First of all,
everything that happens to us that God allows is for our
own good ultimately, and for His glory. I always say that
everything happens for a reason, including the challenges
that we face; so that we can be saved by God’s glory and
power. You will get more understanding of this in the
next few chapters of this book.

To summarise what we learned in this situation, God lets

certain things happen to you, not to punish you but to
make you stronger. For it says in Jeremiah 29:11 that God
has a plan for us, plans to bring us prosperity, and not
disaster plans to bring about the future you hope for.

Sometimes God will allow you to be

in a dark place so you can find his
light and glory and find strength in
HIM.

God wants you to completely depend on Him and trust

Him so He can direct you out of every dark situation in
your life. We are to submit to whatever God has allowed
in our lives, trusting that it will result in the building up
of our faith and the glory of God.

In John 10 verse 27, God clearly indicates that we are His

sheep and, therefore, we will know His voice and follow
only Him. God speaks to us in different ways, and it is
important to recognise the patterns.

To continue where I left off, we were about to pray but

before we started, she told me she needed candles and
pictures of me, my husband, and my children.

To give you a little bit of a back story, I told her how

much I wanted my ex-husband back in my life, but years
passed and no sign of him coming back, instead things
just got worse, so she said we need to properly pray if you
want your husband back. So, I said, of course, I would do
anything if that meant he would return. At the back of
my mind, I was thinking why she needed all that stuff to
pray because when you pray to your Heavenly Father, you
don’t need anything except your heart.

When you pray to your Heavenly

Father, you do not need anything
except your heart.

I was already sensing this is not the right way to do this

and was suspicious, but I did not listen to my inner voice
and just did what she told me to do. The inner voice is
best described as just knowing when something is wrong
or right. The Spirit of God can perceive what we cannot,
and if something isn’t quite right or seems off, it will
communicate this to our spirit, and it is up to us to listen
or not, and act accordingly. In my case, I didn’t listen to
my inner voice, and I thought: „Well, she must know what
she is doing. “

As mentioned earlier, God communicates to us in

different ways and one of them is our gut feeling. Another
word is intuition, which basically means having an
indescribable confidence in knowing that you should do
something that later turns out to be true. You have the
ability to understand something or just know what to do
without the need for conscious reasoning. But you will
get more insight into the different ways God talks to us
in the next chapter.

So, we started to pray, and she told me to let go of

everything and fully concentrate. I closed my eyes and
did what she said when suddenly that deep, loud voice
came out of her saying: “I am the LORD, trust in me”

Immediately I was shaken and very frightened. I did not

expect this to happen at all. You can imagine I was stiff
like a tree and couldn’t move. I asked myself, ‘What just
happened?’ Can God really speak through people in an
audible voice?

Well, in the book “Spiritual Discernment” from the

Author Angela Grace, it is explained that God can
actually speak to you through an audible voice and God
can use this method to talk to you, but you will be filled
with a sense of calm, peace, and knowledge which I didn’t
have as I felt very scared and uncomfortable. I tried to
stay calm, but I really wanted to run away at that moment
and vanish. I was simply scared and when God speaks, it
should not make you in any way fearful.

Some people can be under the influence of a bad spirit,

especially when that person does not glorify God in their
actions. And those will work to undermine your faith and
relationship with God in the things they do directly and
indirectly. I want to emphasise that those people who do
this are not evil, it might be comforting for you to think
that way, but it is not true. It is the kind of thinking that
takes away your love for others and creates enemies in
your life when in reality, those people are victims who
simply need help!
My friend did not know what happened when the evil
spirit departed from her and when she came back to
herself, she could not remember a thing. She felt weak
and exhausted, and it was almost like in the movie
“Ghost” where the actress Whoopi Goldberg was playing
the role of a psychic. For those who watched the movie,
can you remember the scene where the spirit entered her,
and she felt weak afterwards? That is exactly how it was
with my friend.

When I asked her what just happened, she just responded,

“well, that was the Lord speaking to you.” There are
different ways God speaks to us, which I will explain in
detail in the next chapter.

I told her I was scared, but she said I should not be afraid
of the voice of the Lord. She then mentioned we should
do this every night from now on and fast for the next few
days, so she decided to stay with me until my situation
got better.

I saw her as a good friend who wanted to help me. I had

no bad or judgemental thoughts towards her. She was
simply someone who was going through her own trials
and found relief in drugs and cigarettes. I know there are
many out there who are going through so much that the
only thing that can make them temporary happy and not
thinking of their problems is when they smoke cigarettes
or weed or taking any other form of drugs. This might be
a form of temporary relief but understand that God is the
only One who can give the long ultimate long term
“relief!”
The next day arrived and when it was midnight, we
started doing the same thing as the night before, with
candles and pictures and again, this evil spirit spoke
through her and even mentioned Scriptures from the
Bible. I thought that it must be God as it is from the Bible
but keep in mind the Devil knows the Word of God as
well and knows how to paraphrase scriptures from the
Bible to confuse you. He also knows the truth and the
plan God has ordained for you and will try to manipulate
and confuse you as he did to Eve in Genesis 3:1, where the
Bible describes Satan as a cunning serpent which
basically means that he is clever and plans to set traps
for the innocent. And this was exactly how it was for me.
I was trapped by the enemy's plans who manipulated me,
so I believed it was God who was speaking through her.

At times we find ourselves in unfair situations where we

ask ourselves why God let certain things happen to us,
but we must keep in mind that everything (even the
unfair situations) happens for our own good and for God
to be glorified.

Romans 8:28 says: “And we know

that God causes everything to work
together for the good of those who
love God and are called according
to his purpose for them.”

If God does allow evil spirits to torment people today,

He does this as I said with the goal of our good and His
glory. And, in Job’s case, Satan and his minions can do
only what God allows them to do (Job 1:12; 2:6). If
believers suspect demonic forces torment them, the first
response is to repent of any known sin. Then we should
ask for wisdom to understand what we are to learn from
the situation. On those days where life seems crooked,
remember, God can make it straight again and He
arranges these days to happen to us, so we won’t take
anything in our life for granted. (Ecclesiastes 7:13-14) .
To summarise and recap what we have just learned in
this chapter.

• Listen and TRUST in the Holy Spirit who is in us

to help us in all areas of difficulties in life. God has
not created us to trust ourselves or in others but
to trust Him and only Him as he knows the way
and the path we need to go in life. Therefore, we
need to depend on Him.
• God has a great life planned for everyone including
you, so don’t let the devil steal it from you when he
is planning any form of spiritual attack on you!
• Remember, with God on your side, you can
overcome anything, so trust his ways even if you
don’t understand it.

The Holy Spirit will always remind you which

path to take and warns you when you begin to
walk in a wrong direction, so it is our choice
and responsibility to make that decision every
day to trust in the ONE who is the Way, the
Truth and the Life!

To help you obey God’s voice, you should always

meditate on His Word daily so you can gain spiritual
discernment, which I will explain further in the next
chapter.

I will also continue my testimony and how I overcame

spiritual battles in the subsequent chapters.
Chapter 2

You have to be spiritually aware and alert. To

do that, you will need some help. The best help
and guidance you get is from God.

"Be alert and of sober mind. Your

enemy the devil prowls around like
a roaring lion looking for someone
to devour."
(1. PETER 5:8)

Being alert and sober-minded is one of the most

important facts to be able to discern evil spirits. As
previously explained, our inner gut feeling is our intuition
which God gave us and uses to talk to us through His
Holy Spirit. That is why it is important to develop your
ability to recognise the voice of the Holy Spirit who is
your helper and guide to determine right from wrong.

In the Dictionary, “Conscience” is explained as a person

morals sense of right and wrong, viewed as a guide to
one’s behaviour. This inner voice is one of the purest ways
God communicates with us. As you know, I was not
listening to my inner voice as my friend did what she did
in as I explained in the previous chapter. I ignored it and
hence I was not obeying the Holy Spirit.

There are many other ways God uses His Spirit to talk to
us. Another way is, for instance, through dreams and
visions, other people’s counsel, through His word or
direct when He speaks through the voice in our heads, a
still quiet voice that speaks Spirit to spirit. There are
other several methods that God will employ to
communicate with us and our task is to be aware of those
and to know when it’s God who is speaking to you.

One way to know it is from God is by confirmations and

repetitions. In Genesis 41:32, Pharaoh's dreams were
repeated twice, and it explains that it is because God
established it.

The other way is through a personal and deep

relationship with God. That is why we must stay
connected to God. Remember, we must be alert and
cautious because the devil is looking for any open entry
of opportunity to attack us.
The Bible states clearly that the devil is prowling around
like a roaring lion looking for anyone he can devour -
(1.Peter 5:8).

Let’s go back to my story where I left off. My friend and

I continued to pray every midnight, but I must mention
it was not the kind of prayer you do as you should feel
comfortable and peaceful in God’s presence, but I felt
anxious every night about what might happen.
Something inside me already knew something was not
right, but I overlooked and did not listen to it. (As I was
not alert and of a sober mind)

The prayer and fasting we did became more like works

out of the flesh and what I mean by that is that it came
to a point where she said I have to do something for God
in order to get from Him something in return. There was
a list of rules which we needed to follow which I will
explain later in detail in chapter 4 under the topic “The
Danger of Idolatry.” I am not saying that we should not
or be willing to suffer in the flesh as it says in 1. Peter 4:1
that “we should arm ourselves with the same mind as
Christ has suffered in the flesh”, but what I mean is that
we should not think to ourselves if we suffer in the flesh
(not being like-minded with Christ), we can get what we
want from God. We cannot force God to do something
for us by our works, it is by His mercy and grace that we
receive His blessings, not by our doings! We must
understand this: God will not bless you or give you, your
heart desires because you fasted and prayed, He will give
it you because of His grace and mercy and love for us.

We cannot force God to do

something for us by our works, it is
by His mercy and grace that we
receive His blessings, not by our
doings!

There is a difference between suffering out of “works” and

suffering out of “sacrifice” (an act of giving up something
especially for the sake of someone or something else)
where we will stop or give up doing things which will only
please the world, not God. Let me explain, but before I
do, let us read some Scriptures that help you understand
where I want to go.

Romans 11:6 says: “And since it is through God’s kindness, then

it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would
not be what it really is—free and undeserved.”

So, what am I saying? Romans chapter 8 is a very

powerful and interesting chapter when it comes to living
in the spirit, not in the flesh. The first few verses tell us
that we already have been made right with God, so we
don’t need to earn it by the works of the flesh. (Romans
8:1-5) Let me paraphrase verse 5: Those who live according
to the flesh set their minds on the flesh. In my case, I had
to remove myself from taking a bath for three days. In
addition to it, I had to wear white clothes for three days
and three nights as a sacrifice to God.
The first time she told me these, I was not really
convinced if this is what God wants me to do. And there
was one night where we were supposed to do ‘fire prayers.
She explained ‘fire prayers’ as a means of receiving your
request from God thought intense prayer sessions
including staying up all night, shouting, screaming and
more.

So, at midnight when we were supposed to pray and be

on fire for God, I couldn’t as I didn’t feel comfortable. I
remember she asked me: “Why are you not praying?” The
reason I wasn’t praying was because I was scared this
voice would come out of her again! Later, she got up and
said we need to stop the prayer, so we had an early night
and went to sleep.

The next morning when she woke up, she said she needed
to leave, and we even ended up having a fight because I
did not do what she told me to do the night before. I
wasn’t passionate enough about my prayer life how she
claimed it, so she left. To sum it up, trying to please God
by your actions and selfish motivations leads to
unhealthy competition, slander, bitterness, and in my
case, it was eventual burn out which you will read later
in Chapter 6 “The Escape”.

We must focus on the things of the Spirit that means to

read the Bible on a daily basis and intercede with the
Word of God. Philippians 4:8 says to meditate on things
which are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good
report. Nevertheless, for anything that is praiseworthy
and of virtue, we should meditate on these things. The
amplified version explains the word “meditate” with
“think continually” and to “center” your mind on them
and implant them in your heart”.

We have to train our minds to think

continually about good things so
that we will then be able to act on it
because our actions are triggered by
our thoughts.

In her book “The Battlefield of the Mind,” Joyce Meyer

tells us that we should be careful of our thoughts and
think about what we are thinking about because our
MIND is the Battlefield and therefore can make a big
impact in our life. Because did you know that:

Whatever we focus or think on

becomes our reality!

It is so important to control our mindset and what we

are thinking about so that we will be able to be victorious
and please God without having to “suffer in the flesh”. We
must realise that Christ already suffered for us and paid
the price. So why do we have to suffer for our sins and
having to make sacrifices to Him when God already did
it for us by sacrificing his only begotten Son to die on the
cross, so our sins can be washed away once and for all!
All we need is to believe in Him, for John 3:16 says: “For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but
have everlasting life.”

“We can change our lives by

changing our thoughts”

We shouldn’t think that we need to perish by

withdrawing ourselves from basic needs, for example, not
washing ourselves for some time and not eating or
sleeping. God would never expect us to neglect our bodies
by not cleaning it and giving it what it needs to survive,
even if it is only for a short time. He would never ask you
to do something that might jeopardise, which means
basically to put someone or something into a situation in
which there is a danger of loss, harm, or failure.

Because the situation I was in was extremely dangerous

as I was not eating enough food, had lack of sleep, lack of
hygiene. Not having enough sleep for a long period of
time can affect your health and overall mental well-being
as it is found in many studies that health problems are
associated with sleep deprivation and poor sleep.

I also had to isolate myself from family and friends and

even from my church. I am not saying it’s not good to
distant yourself for some time to have some alone time
with God, but if it comes to a point where your family
starts to get worried about you because you not allowed
to pick their calls, then it’s definitely something to
reconsider if that’s from God. Breaking ties with your
family and abandoning yourself from your church
leading to potentially irreversible psychological and
emotional damage is definitely not God's doing.
Spend time with the Word of God to recognise
patterns, hidden influences, and the significance of
events around you so that you able to grow in
knowledge, wisdom, and understanding and therefore
develop spiritual discernment.

And the more time you spend with God by studying

His word and praying to Him, the more you will know
His “voice” and then be able to easily discern evil
spirits.
Chapter 3

We have to be watchful all the time so we are

able to overcome all distractions and dangers
ahead and keep our focus on the one who
knows the right path.
(Proverbs 4:23-27 MSG)

It is very important to be on guard or another way to say

this is to be alert and ready to respond to possible danger,
threats, problems, etc. We need to protect our hearts
against attacks and watch carefully where we are going.
There are many Scriptures in the Bible about being on
guard. For example, 1. Corinthians 16:13-14 in the Message
translation says we should keep our eyes open.

It is necessary to be aware of possible dangers we might

have to face in life so that we can get out of it before it
gets too late and then there is no way out anymore.
As you already know, I was in a situation where I believed
the lies of the enemy where I had to do certain things so
I can be made right with God and receive his
promises/desires of my heart. We have already been made
right with God through Jesus Christ as it is mentioned in
the Book of Romans chapter 5 verse 19 for it says:

“Because one person (Adam)

disobeyed God, many became
sinners. But because one other
person (Jesus Christ) obeyed God,
many will be made righteous.”

As I mentioned in the previous chapter, there was this

day when she left my house due to the night before as
she said I did not do what God has told me to do. She
sent me the following text message:

“God is angry with you because you don’t follow

his instructions, you are always disobedient and
selfish and that’s why you need to pray proper
because I can feel his anger towards you and you
are the one who keeps delaying your deliverance
out of ignorance and he is tired of you repeating
things over and over and you don’t listen!”

After reading this, I felt devastated and guilty. First, let

me make that clear: God is a good and merciful God, and
He never gets tired of us. He knows our failures,
weaknesses and would never blame us for them. God
knows our hearts and would never make us feel guilty of
our sins.

One good Scripture from the Bible tells us exactly that:

“For we do not have a high priest

(Jesus who is the Son of God) who is
unable to sympathize with our
weaknesses, but one who has been
tempted in every way as we are, yet
without sin. Therefore, let us
approach the throne of grace with
boldness, so that we may receive
mercy and find grace to help us in
time of need.”
(HEBREWS 4:15-16)

You can tell by what she said was the lie of the enemy
speaking through her, trying through negative talk to
attack me, and the worse thing about that was that this
has even convinced me that it is from God.

We should never forget that the devil only wants to harm

and destroy us, but it is by God’s loving grace mercy that
even though we are sinners, we have been made right with
God. What a great and loving God we serve! Also, keep in
mind that our Father in heaven is never against us but
for us and, therefore will never leave nor forsake us!
(Romans 8:31). It doesn’t say in the Bible that He will get
tired of us or even angry if you don't follow His
instructions.

This is not an excuse not to obey God’s word and

instructions He has given us and we should listen to Him
always but what I want to make clear is that He knows
our weaknesses and is quick to forgive us when we come
to Him with a clean heart.

As I didn’t know the Bible very well, I listened to my

friend’s lies, and that’s why it is so important to feed your
spirit with the word of God as not only your flesh needs
food but so does your spirit; therefore, it is necessary to
feed it daily with the Word of God.

Also, mention when I went to my secret room and prayed

about it, God gave me Romans 5:19, where it says we
already have been made right with God through Christ
who died for our sins, so there is no condemnation and
Gods wonderful gift of righteousness and Grace made us
free from sin.

Let me make clear to you that God is in us, and His Holy
Spirit is living in us, so even though my mind was
corrupted, my spirit was constantly in communication
with God. I was praying silently for God’s protection over
me, and He heard my prayers. My Spirit was always
interceding with God and asking for His help and guide.
• Remember to always ask God for His help and
leadership throughout your life.

• Do not believe in the enemy’s lies but instead

believe in God’s word. He will direct you if you
just let him, so make that decision today to let
God always lead you in every situation. He will
never leave nor forsake you; God is your Helper
and Guide!
Chapter 4

Live for the Lord and no one else!

“You must not have any other god but me.”
EXODUS 20:3

In our modern times, we think idols are no longer in use,

but that is not true. Idols are things you worship, the
things you focus on or yield your strength. They are false
gods. Did you know you can worship things by paying too
much attention to them? Or you want something so bad
in your life that you actually come to a place where you
are filled with selfish desires and try to receive them by
your own doing or successes?
Then there are other ways of idolatry that I have
experienced and to give you a bit of an insight of how
Idolatry can become dangerous, let me go a little bit
deeper.

To come back to my story, she eventually returned to my

house and said that she needs to come back and we must
continue fasting and praying for the next ten days.

She made a list of things I had to buy which were:

(dinner) candles, pictures from the persons I want to pray
for, incense sticks (Dragon Blood) which I had to light up
on the altar and also in every single room of the flat so
that everywhere around the house the smoke and its
fragrance spread. In her opinion, it was helping to drive
evil spirits away, but actually, it was attracting them.

Then I had to buy random olive oil from the supermarket

which was then used to be an anointing oil and each
night at midnight. We sprinkled it all around the house.
Before we prayed, we anointed ourselves on our heads
and feet seven times, and each candle for each person we
prayed for had to be anointed seven times before we lit it
up at midnight.

And as mentioned before, I was not allowed to take a

shower for a period of three days as I was anointed with
oil and if I wash it, all the prayer and fasting we did would
have become worthless or void. It is not bad to have
anointing oil in your house and anoint yourself with it,
but I have to point out that in this case, it was misused
and not used in a proper way.
I was not allowed to pray without covering my hair and
there was one night I will never forget where we prayed
from 12 o'clock midnight until 4 o’clock in the morning.
At midnight we started to pray as usual and then
suddenly, this voice was coming out of her again, spoke
to me and instructed me to read out loud scriptures from
the Bible, but not only that. I knew there was something
spiritual going on here as suddenly, my friend fell on the
ground and was muttering and crying. I knew she was not
herself at that moment, she was fighting the demon
inside of her and I had to cast it out by sprinkling
anointing oil all over her and demanding the demon to
leave!

That was literally the first night I had experienced a

spiritual battle. I was more than exhausted; only God
knows where I had the strength to pray for 4 hours and
fight demons in my own house. I felt like I was running
a marathon; I was completed knackered out. My entire
bedroom where we pray every night was a complete mess
with anointing oil sprinkled everywhere, papers and
books on the floor, and everything was scattered and
literally looked as we have just fought a war. It was crazy!

Some mornings before I even had the chance to wake up,

she began muttering, and I realised it was not her as she
was still sleeping, so it was this evil spirit who spoke
through her and demanded me to do certain things. And
because I didn’t have spiritual discernment, I did
everything that this demon told me to do. I started to
become fearful and very uncomfortable in my own house,
which I didn’t pay attention to as I thought this is what
God wants me to do. But without her knowing, this
demonic spirit was so much in control of her.

This is why it’s so important to honour God with your

body as it says in 1. Corinthians 6:19-20: “Do you not know
that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in
you, whom you have received from God? You are not your
own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honour God
with your bodies.”

By now, you have probably noticed this demonic spirit

used many tactics and re-created the laws found in the
Old Testament before Jesus Christ came to save us from
our sins. In Leviticus Chapter 11, there was a law where it
was forbidden to eat unclean meat like pork, which she
also told me to stop eating. Or I had to pray in the East,
which was used in the times of Moses and to wash my
hands and feet before prayer and pray barefoot, as those
were all rules in the beginning of the Old Testament
which the Israelites had to do and follow a certain law.
But as I mentioned, Jesus Christ came on this Earth to
fulfil the law (Matthew 5:17) and to complete it, which I
remember this demonic spirit denied that this is a lie.

Furthermore, it says in Romans 8 that there is no

condemnation for those in Christ Jesus because the law
of the Spirit of life in Christ has set us free from the law
of sin and death. For what the law could not do since the
flesh weakened it, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh
by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh as
a sin offering, in order that the law’s requirement would
be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh
but according to the Spirit.

My friend knew that I was devastated and wanted my ex-

husband back, so she advised me to pray and fast in order
for him to return. But you see, this was a form of Idolatry
as I was trying to get my husband back by focusing my
attention only on him and sacrificing by doing certain
things so God can send him back to me. I thought
through this act of prayer and fasting, I will win my
husband’s love back. I was convicted I am doing the right
thing, but God doesn’t work like that. We can’t force Him
to do certain things for us or think that He will certainly
give us what we want if we pray hard enough.

In my case, it was more a super-spiritual act in order to

earn deliverance and to enforce a specific desire. I have
to state at this point, you can’t expect God to give you
what you want or make Him change something in your
life by your actions as mentioned in my previous chapter.
When you come to Him, you have to delight yourself,
which means that you have to find pleasure, true
satisfaction, and happiness in Him and know that He is
the only one you need and through Him, you are
complete. (Psalms 37:5)

Delight yourself in God

It is your faith in Jesus Christ, His son, and what He has

done for you that gives you what you need – not because
of what you have done.
The best way to avoid Idolatry in any shape or form is to
pray about it and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal it to you
and help you not place anyone or anything before Him.
God should always be the first place in your life as it says
in Matthew 6:33 in the Christian Standard version

“But seek FIRST the kingdom of

God and his righteousness, and all
these things will be provided for
you.”

And then, of course, when you spend time with the Word
of God, you will gain knowledge, wisdom, and
understanding about the different types of Idolatry, you
will then recognise their patterns and that will help you
to avoid them.

The more you draw closer to God, the more he will draw
closer to you and when you put him FIRST in everything,
you will see that Idolatry is no longer a transgression in
your life!
Do you have any form of Idolatry in your life? Is there
something in your life you pay more attention to and
focus more on than on God? If your answer is “Yes,” I
am encouraging you to ask God to help you remove
those things in your life which is not worshiping God,
He wants you just to make Him your focus and the
only one you are worshiping. Make Him your “Number
1” in your life!
Chapter 5

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal

but mighty in God for pulling down
strongholds, casting down arguments and every
high thing that exalts itself against the
knowledge of God, bringing every thought into
captivity to the obedience of Christ. “
(2. CORINTHIANS 10:4)

Anxiety and Worry are both attacks

on the mind intended to distract us
from serving God.
In Matthew 6:25-26, Jesus tells us not to worry about our
lives and explains in a parable that God even provides for
the animals like birds, then how much more will he
provide for us as we are far more valuable than birds. The
Bible makes it clear not to worry about anything in our
life because we simply have NO REASON! When we look
at the birds and all the free animals on this planet who
don’t worry how much more should we then not worry.
If God can take care of all the animals on this Earth, how
much more can He then take care of us?

When you think about it, you begin to realise there is

nothing to worry about because we have our Father in
Heaven who protects us and looks after us, so ask
yourself, do you trust him enough to take care of you?

I have wasted many years of my life worrying about

things that I could not do anything about and had no
control of.

Things will happen in our lives we

can’t control, it’s our choice to either
be miserable about it or be happy
no matter the circumstances.

We just have to come to the full awareness that we don’t

have control over things that happen in our lives, but our
God in heaven, who sits on the throne, who is constantly
watching over this Earth, He got EVERYTHING in
control!
The Scripture in Psalms 121:5-6 gives us exactly that
promise.

Fear will always try to attack us,

but it is US that has to be strong
enough to fight against it.

There are many Scriptures in the Bible which tells us not

to worry, so it is important to meditate on these things
regularly and also say out loud declarations like:

“I am a Child of God, and I am not

a slave to Fear”

You can memorise it and each time the devil tries (and
he will try it, so be prepared) to attack your mind with
anxiety and worry, you can say that out loud and ask God
to help you fill your mind with HIS. What also really
helps is to change your mindset and replace negative
thoughts with positive thoughts. And we must
CONSTANTLY REMIND OURSELVES that whatever we
focus on becomes the big picture in our lives and so we
have to be careful what we put our attention to as it can
distract us from what God has in store for us.

Don’t look in the world at what

happens around you but look at
God's promise by reading and
studying his Word.

He has given us the assurance to have peace with him

and be confident that nothing can harm us because we
serve a mighty God who has overcome the world! “I have
told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace
and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and
distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be
confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I
have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for
you.]” JOHN 16:33 AMP Classic Version.

When we think about spiritual weapons, we tend to think

only about the Word of God or Prayer, but there is more.
First, let me clarify that the weapons we fight are not
carnal and we don’t fight it in our own strength. Our
weapons are spiritual; they are mighty through God, in
His strength not ours.

As we learn to lean on the guide of the Holy Spirit, who

is our Helper, we will begin to see victory in our lives.

Spiritual battles are God's battle

and not meant to be ours to fight.

As I mentioned before, the Word of God and Prayer is

most important when it comes to Spiritual Warfare.
Being in constant communication with God and
meditating and reading HIS Word will help us come out
of any battle we may face. I have to mention at this point
that I was constantly praying in the Spirit. Though I
didn’t know what to pray for, the Holy Spirit interceded
and prayed for me. When I was reading the Bible, I kept
declaring Scriptures, like:

“Therefore, submit to God. Resist

the devil and he will flee from you.”

I was very close to the Word of God, even though I wasn’t

quite myself, but the Holy Spirit, who is my Helper and
Guide was with me all the time and gave me verses from
the Bible which I prayed and meditated on daily.

Then there is another spiritual weapon which is Worship.

This is a powerful weapon to destroy the enemy. But we
must make an important distinction! Worship is not just
a way of singing songs but also a condition of your heart.
It is a purposeful and intentional elevation of God above
everything else. So again, when you put God first above
anything else, that is a form of worship!

The Name of Jesus is also a powerful weapon when it

comes to a battle. The name of Jesus is above any other
name. (Philippians 2:9-11)

There is power in the name of Jesus!

There are many false gods and you can call anyone your
Lord or your God, but there is a difference when you use
the name of Jesus who is above any other names.

Fasting, of course, is also a spiritual weapon, when

combined with prayer. Fasting and praying is an amazing
tool against the enemy for spiritual warfare in breaking
bondage and setting the captives free, as long as it is done
in faith.

Thanksgiving is also a very powerful weapon when it

comes to spiritual warfare. There is nothing the enemy
wants more than for you to be riddled with
discontentment, anxiety, complaining, and so on. Those
things destroy us from the inside out and poison our
relationship with others. Therefore, it is important to be
content in every situation, even when you are in the
middle of facing a battle. For it says in Philippians 4: 11-
13 that the secret of being content is whatever
circumstances you are in, you have learned to be satisfied.

Because that is what the devil hates

the most when we are facing a
battle, but we are still praising and
thanking God.

Last but not least, there is our Testimony which has great
power to defeat the enemy! The enemy may come at you
with lies and deception, but he cannot convince you that
what God has done for you didn’t really happen. It is the
final word.
This is a weapon that is so often neglected because if the
enemy can get us to focus on the negative, on what we do
not have, on the bad things going on in our life right now,
he can cause us to forget all the good things God has
done for us in the past. All the way God has provided for
us when we had nothing or all the miracles he has done
in our life. The healing God has done in our heart, body,
and all the way God has come through for us as He did
in my life.

It is the spiritual battle I had to face in my life so I can

get a testimony and share with you and all the other
people around the world how God came through for me.
Because without a test, you can’t have a testimony and
this spiritual battle was indeed a test which I came out
of.

All thanks to the “Most High God”!

In the next chapter, I will explain how God delivered me

and took me out of this spiritual battle.

But remember, the enemy can cause us to forget our

testimony knowing that if we use our testimony, we will
be victorious and we know by faith that God will always
come through for us again!
Chapter 6

“Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and

he will flee from you.”
(JAMES 4:7)

To come back to my story, in addition to not be allowed

to bathe for three days, I wasn’t allowed to talk to any of
my friends or family or even to the father of my children.
I remember I got several missed calls from my family and
friends and even from my ex-husband. So it happened
that one particular day, I went out with her to buy more
incense sticks and candles, and when we returned home,
I saw my ex-husband in front of my entry door.

He seemed very upset as I haven’t returned his calls or

messages. When I approached him, he immediately asked
me what happened and why I am not returning his calls
as he knew that was not like me. I could not answer him
as I remembered her words: “You are not allowed to talk
to him for three days.” So, I was scared if I talk to him, I
will break the law and our fasting and praying would
become void and as I did not want to have another three
days of not having to shower, I just did what I was told
to do, so I kept quiet.

My ex-husband immediately saw that something was off,

but he also didn’t know what to do as she convinced him
that everything was fine, so he left. When we then arrived
upstairs, I heard the bell ringing and she answered and
told me it was him. He came upstairs to check on me and
the kids and I guess he noticed the smell from incense
around the house. She again spoke to him that everything
is fine that we are just praying, that’s all. But when he
entered the room where our prayer meeting took place
and saw the altar with all the candles and incense, he was
shocked. He couldn’t say anything and just run out of the
house.

I was surprised and looked at her and she just replied:

“He is fine, don’t worry. He knows now that we are
praying for him.” It didn’t take long when I received a call
from him later. I also didn’t know that my sister was in
contact with my ex-partner the whole time and messaged
each other. My sister thought that this woman I was with
was doing some sort of occult and she told him to do
something about it.

So, I talked to him, and I noticed he sounded very nervous

and worried. He said he wanted to talk to me privately. I
went to my room when he then said and I have to
mention at that point I was expecting for him to say
something like; I want to come back home and be a
family again as we prayed for it, but instead, he said:

“I am worried about you, and she needs to leave.”

He repeated himself over and over again to make sure I

heard him as I was surprised, and I wanted to convince
him that she is my friend and only wants to help me.
Unfortunately, I did not have a spirit of discernment
that’s why I didn’t see the danger I was in. When I told
her what he said, she became very nervous and stressed.
She tried to hide it, but I saw something was wrong.
When I asked her if she was okay, she laughed and said:

“I am used to being called a witch and I learned to live

with it.”

I did not know what to respond as I didn’t see her as a

witch, I saw her as a good friend who just wanted to help
but because her intentions were not right, satan used that
opportunity to turn it around and bring confusion.

At midnight, the night before she left, we prayed but this

time, I felt something different in the spirit realm. When
we went to bed and I was about to sleep, God gave me a
Scripture in the Bible, Malachi 3:5. This scripture was for
her, and I knew it came from the Holy Spirit as I didn’t
know the Bible very well, but the Holy Spirit did.

She immediately sprung up and said she needed to leave

and spend some alone time with God. I knew there was
something she needed to release to Him, and she said she
needed to be alone.
Then she left and that was the last time I saw her.

We were still in contact and continued with the prayer

and fasting. Although she wasn’t physically present, but
we spoke over the phone and messaged each other. My
ex-husband came later that day and told me to stay at his
place for few days, so I had to pack my clothes and went
with him and the kids to his place.

It was Friday the 17Th of July, the day of my deliverance. I

remember praying to God that something has to happen
as I was physically and mentally exhausted and knew if I
continued, I wouldn’t know if I survive another day. I
definitely reached my limit and couldn’t bear it any
longer. And that reminds me of that Scripture in 1.
Corinthians 10:13 in the NKJV where it says:

“No temptation has overtaken you

except such as is common to man; but
God is faithful, who will not allow you
to be tempted beyond what you are
able, but with the temptation will also
make the way of escape, that you may
be able to bear it.”

God knows what you can handle and what not and He
will certainly make way for you to escape so that you can
bear it. And so, it was with me that I could escape before
it was too late.

Later that evening, my ex-husband came back from work.

I stayed at his friend’s house with the kids whilst he was
at work as he didn’t want me to be alone. When he
returned, he eventually started telling me that he is
worried about me and thinks I am brainwashed. He
added that he has never seen me like that before and that
I needed to stop all this. Otherwise, he sees no other
option but to claim custody for our kids. At that very
moment, I knew I had to listen to him, but still, I was
confused about his reaction. I didn’t understand why he
was so upset, as in my opinion, I was only praying and
fasting.

Later that evening, we drove back to his place. The

atmosphere was weird and uncomfortable, so he called
one of our Pastor’s wife to speak to me and pray with me.
I rejected at first, as I was instructed by my friend not to
speak to anyone from my church. I couldn’t say anything
whilst she prayed with me. You have to know I was still
in the devil’s trap, so I refused to speak to her as I was
told not to talk to anyone from my church. I couldn’t say
anything whilst she prayed with me. All I had left was
tears running down from my eyes.

It was when she started to pray when I suddenly began

to feel a shift in the atmosphere; I felt such a release and
my burden lifted! My eyes were finally opened and my
veil was removed and I could see what was happening to
me:
the devil had me in his trap and I broke out of it! I cried out
loud and this was when I knew I got delivered. I
remember looking up and saw a white dove in the sky. I
just knew in that moment this was a sign from God who
saved me by His AMAZING GRACE!

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind but now I see
Was Grace that taught my heart to fear
And Grace, my fears relieved
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed
Through many dangers, toils and snares
We have already come
It was Grace that brought us safe thus
far
And Grace will lead us home.”
AMAZING GRACE – SONG WRITTEN
BY JOHN NEWTON

Indeed, my Father in Heaven brought me back home in

His arms where I knew I was safe. God has set me free,
and He has saved me from the enemy’s trap. I finally
could breathe again!

What the Devil has planned for evil

God turned it around for good
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant
it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to
save many people alive.” - (Genesis 50:20). God has not only
delivered me from the enemy’s trap, but he has made me
stronger in my faith.
Sometimes God allows the devil to come at us so we
can be made strong in our faith in God. Remember the
story of Job, Job feared God and God has blessed him
abundantly in everything until satan came and tested
him in his faith. And even though God allowed it, he
said to satan every time he wanted to bring another
curse on him, to spare his life. (Job 2:3-6).

God would never allow things to happen which we

can’t bear or handle, as it says in 1. Corinthians 10:13
that God is faithful, and He will not allow us to be
tempted beyond what we are able. Even though I was
at my limits, God has saved me right on time as He
knew what I could bear and what not.

So, we can be rest assured that our Father in heaven

will never let us go through something beyond what
we are able!
Chapter 7

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes

in the morning”
(PSALMS 30:5)

So it was that God won this battle for me and I was set
free. Although, I noticed that I still struggled with fear. I
still had all the images in my head and was even scared
in my own house. As previously explained in Chapter 5,
Worry or Fear is an attack of the enemy to distract us
from what God has promised to us.

The Bible tells us many times that we shouldn’t worry.

One of them is in Matthew 6:31 where it says:
“Therefore, do not worry, saying,
‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall
we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’”

When you continue to verse 32, it also states:

“For after all these things the

Gentiles seek. For your heavenly
Father knows that you need all
these things. “

Notice that part of verse 32 where it says that our

heavenly father knows what we need. Yes, God knows
what we need, and he will not refuse to give it to us!

Worry will not help you. In fact, it is useless and certainly

never makes anything better, so why not give it up? If you
constantly worry, you can never enjoy the peace that
Jesus Christ died for you to have. Because it is impossible
to worry and live at peace at the same time.

As previously mentioned, I was still living in fear even

though God saved me, and I should be at peace. I want
to encourage you to make a decision today instead of
worrying to cast all your cares upon God and trust Him
that he knows what to do with them. (1. Peter5:6,7)

Remember, only God can deliver us, and He wants us to

know that so that in every situation, our first response is
to lean on and rely on Him so we can enter His rest.
And once you have peace, you will also have joy because
in God there is fullness of Joy. (Psalms 16:11). In order to
have peace, you have to understand that your heart needs
to free from worry. We do not need to worry, so do not
waste your life on this earth constantly being in fear
when the Bible clearly tells us that it doesn’t do any good.
Instead of worrying, pray about everything and rejoice!
(Philippians 4:4-7).

As I said, I was in a very dark place but when God came

through for me, I got instantly delivered because God is
Light, and Light overcomes Darkness. John the Baptist
tells us that Jesus is the Light and whoever follows him
shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life. What
a wonderful assurance that is!

From the very onset of creation, God defined light as

good and separated it from darkness. At the beginning of
the creation, God said, “Let there be light,”; and there was
light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God
divided the light from the darkness.”

Notice the last verse where it says that God separated the
light from darkness because Light has nothing to do with
Darkness. It has no similarity. So, when God said, let
there be light, and there was light, it was good because
God is Light and the Earth was without form and void,
which means without God, the Earth would remain non-
existence and empty – full of darkness BUT Light came
and covered the earth so it can live and exist.
In the darkness, light can be seen
and without darkness, there can’t be
light.

So eventually, I decided to trust God instead of worrying

all the time and so, I had so much joy in my heart and
felt like a new person. I was finally at peace!
• To overcome any dark situation in your life, you
must stay close to God who is the light and,
therefore, the Overcomer of this world.

• Light overcomes Darkness, so stay close to God,

the Source of Light and you will be able to
overcome any battle in your life because the
darkness is defeated by light.

• And so, it is with Joy as well - Joy overcomes Fear!

Therefore, do not worry about anything which
you can’t control and instead pray about it.

REMEMBER
“Weeping may last for a moment,
but Joy always comes in the
morning!”
Chapter 8

Listen To Him and Trust His Ways

In this chapter, I want to explain the importance of

obeying the Holy spirit and to trust Him in everything he
tells us to do. So why is it so important to listen to the
Holy Spirit?

Let me tell you first that God always has the bigger
picture. What do I mean by that? Well, he sees everything,
what we cannot say with our own eyes. (Proverbs 15:3). He
knows what is ahead of you and can therefore direct you
in the right direction if you only ask Him. Matthew 7:7-
11 His ways are the only and best ways. As it says in verse
11 of the Scripture above, He will not withhold any good
things from us. When we decide to follow Him and trust
Him where He takes us, I can assure you. You will not
regret it.

One of my favourite scriptures in the Bible is found in

Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and
lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” I want
you to focus here on the verse where it says, “lean not on
your own understanding,” which is very important that
we analyse that. There are things that we do not
understand because God has not equipped us with his
thoughts. His thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are
our ways his ways. (Isaiah 55: 8-9). Therefore, we have to
trust him at all times because He simply knows what we
need to do in a particular situation.

There is a difference between only listening to God’s

voice and listening to Him AND actually doing it. It is
easy to listen to Him but to put it into action is another
thing. You see, I have been there and have wasted many
years of my life by not obeying the Holy Spirit, so you can
trust me when I tell you His ways are better, not our ways.
It takes trust and a humble mindset to do this. You
shouldn’t be proud and have the mindset of “I can do it
on my own!” because you simply cannot. At the end of
following your instructions, you will notice that it didn’t
work out. The results? You will end up being frustrated,
confused, and unhappy and you will ask yourself WHY? I
ended there until I got so tired of doing it my ways that
I totally surrendered to God and begged him:

“Whatever it takes, please do it your way!” Yes,

WHATEVER IT TAKES! Even when it means that I have
to suffer and do things out of my inconvenience.
True obedience is to obey God and
listen to his instructions even when
it gets uncomfortable.

We tend to do only things that are comfortable and

convenient for us, but God sometimes instructs us to get
out of our COMFORT ZONE and do things that are
difficult for us and will hurt us or even bring us to the
point of embarrassment. I am speaking from experience
as I went through exactly that, but I can tell you it is
worth it. Because at the end you will see the RESULTS
which is being in peace, happy and fulfilled and you will
thank yourself for obeying Him. So, ask yourself now, will
I decide to obey the Holy spirit WHATEVER it takes?

Once you have made the experience that His ways are
always better than your ways, you don’t even want to
disobey Him anymore. God loves you and He cares for
you. We are His children, so he wants to correct us and
wants us to obey him for our benefit. It is similar to our
children; we want to teach them and correct them so that
they will go the right path.

For example, when we see that our child/children does

something wrong and we correct them and tell them
don’t do it again, they know they have to obey us;
otherwise, they are in trouble. But we only do that
because we love our children, and we want the best for
them.
Likewise, it is in our relationship with God. He would not
want us to go the wrong path and watch us suffer because
he loves us so much as we love our children.

Imagine if God does not care about us and lets us do what

we want without correcting us, which will lead to
frustration and discontentment. Let’s say, for instance,
you took the wrong decision in life and God knows it and
He also know, if He would lead you to the right path, it
would benefit you, but God just decides not to do it.
Would that not be a total disaster? Thank God this is not
the case!

We serve a God who truly loves and cares about us and

He would do anything to help us live a better life.

But still, we must keep in mind that God won’t force us

to obey Him and follow His instructions if we don’t want
to. As God has given us a free choice and therefore a free
will so it is our choice to obey or disobey Him.

Genesis 2:16,17 clearly states that God gave Adam and Eve
a free will where they could freely eat in the Garden of
Eden, but only of one particular tree they should not eat.
So, God tested them if they will obey Him or not and He
gave them FREE WILL to do so. There are many
Scriptures in the Bible where it tells us about obedience.
For example, the story of Abraham where he had to
sacrifice his only son and was tested for his obedience to
the Lord. God blessed Abraham because of his obedience
to Him. (Genesis 22:18)
The same will happen to us and God will surely bless us
when we will only obey Him and do His will.
• In conclusion to this, it is important to realise
that we only live here on Earth to do God’s will,
not our will. (Matthew 6:10).
• We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand, that we should walk in them.
(Ephesians 2:10)
• Let us, therefore, work continuously together
with the Holy Spirit as He knows and sees
everything, He has the bigger picture whilst we
see only part of it.
• Ask God to help you to see things from His
perspective, His eyes and you will start to notice
that you see your world differently.
Chapter 9

Some battles are not meant for us to fight, for it

belongs to God who will fight them on our
behalf.

“For all power belongs to God, now and forever.

Amen.”
(1. PETER 5:11-13)

Spiritual battles can only be defeated by God. For He

knows what is going on in the spiritual realm, but we
don’t; therefore, it is important to hand over every battle
in our life to the Lord and let him fight them for us. How
do we do that? By prayer and supplication. Philippians
4:6 says:
“do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known to
God.”

Basically, what that verse means is that we hand him over

our requests which we cannot solve by ourselves by
prayer to him and supplication, which is the act of asking
God for something in a humble way. It also says with
thanksgiving, as mentioned in Chapter 5, one of the
spiritual weapons is thanksgiving.

When we thank God instead of

complaining in the midst of a battle,
we show God that we trust him
enough to fight this particular fight
for us and we will see the victory.
(DEUTERONOMY 20:4)

You see, the Israelites wasted 40 years in the wilderness

on complaining and they didn’t have enough faith that
what God has promised to them will come to pass. If they
believe in him and obeyed his voice, they would have
made it to the promised land.
So, let us not be like the Israelites and fear the struggle
but trust God that He will fight it for you! (Deuteronomy
3:22)

Not only will God fight it for you and win it, but He won’t
waste a battle. Though it was designed to keep you out
and destroy you, God will turn it around and use it to
keep you in because He just simply does not waste a
battle as it is a bridge to your destiny, to the promises of
God.

Your struggle will bring you to what

God has in store for you!

He instructs us sometimes to suffer, not to punish us but

to bring us close to Him and to strengthen our faith in
Him so we can get there where He wants us to be! Behind
every pain there is a purpose and God is preparing us
only for our blessings! Romans 5 verse 3 clearly states that
we should boast in our afflictions, because afflictions
produce proven character, a character we need, to
become that man or woman He has created us to be.

I don’t regret any of the battles I had to go through

because they only helped me to become that woman I
was created to be. If not for them, I wouldn’t have become
the person I am today. And if not for the spiritual battles
I had to face, I would not have written this book.

So, I can definitely say everything happens for a reason, even

the challenges in life! So, let’s change our perspective and
look at them as an opportunity to grow deeper in God
and change us into the man or woman God has intended
us to be!

Whenever you are facing any difficult situation in your

life, you must believe that you have already won the
victory because you have God on your side who will never
leave nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6).

The victory has already been won

through Christ Jesus who died on
the cross to free us from our sins.

But really, the defeat of Satan has already taken place as

well. As much as the Day of Atonement pictures the
removal of Satan from the world, God the Father and
Jesus Christ have taken steps to defeat satan in our lives
already. We don’t have to wait until the future fulfilment
of the Day of Atonement to be released from Satan.
Christ already came down and defeated Satan as a human
to free us from him.

Through Christ’s perfect life, death, and resurrection

Satan has been defeated.

God sent his son Jesus Christ to this Earth as a physical

human being and so defeated Satan nearly 2,000 years
ago. The word “destroy” in verse 14 actually means to
disarm or remove. Christ came and disarmed Satan. He
took away his power over us. Mankind will have to wait
until Satan is removed from the world, but we can take
advantage of him being disarmed in our lives right now.
We may live in a world that is deceived and led by Satan,
but you and I have been freed, and Satan has been
defeated for us already. He knows it, his followers know
it, Christ knows it, and the Father knows it. Do we know
it?

In Matthew 28:18 Christ said, “All

authority has been given to Me in
heaven and on earth.”

Our King is already in control; He is not going to war

without being sure of the victory. We can be confident
about that.
• Remember, without a war, there is no victory. It’s
the same with a test. Without a test, there is no
testimony. So sometimes, we have to go through a
battle so we can gain victory.
• We know what side is going to win. We know what
side has already won. The Father and Son have
already won, and they are going to win again. We
can be confident that we can be and will be
victorious with them as well. Amen.
• Remember, some battles are not meant for us to
fight. We should learn to focus on God whenever
we are facing challenges in life and trust Him in
the midst of every storm!
• Hebrews 12:2says: “Looking unto Jesus the author and
finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before
him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set
down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
• Don’t worry and let go of your fears and trust God
to fight your battles for you!
Chapter 10

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean

not on your own understanding; In all your
ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct
your paths.”

We have to acknowledge that every battle in our life

happens for a reason and God doesn’t waste a single war
in our life. Sometimes God instructs us to suffer, not
because he wants to punish us but to sharpen us into the
right direction where he wants us to go. On some
occasions, he is just testing our faith like in the story of
Job.

Job was one of them in the Bible where God tested his
faith in Him. It came to a point where he has suffered so
much and everything in his life was taken away that he
began to question God, but regardless of what happened
to him, he remained faithful to God. However, the rest of
the book of Job tells us about his three friends who made
him question God and he has then fallen into a pit and
complaint of his sufferings to God.

Ultimately, God does not answer why He allowed Job to

suffer. In Job 36:22-26, it is explained that God's ways are
better than the ways of man; sometimes, we don’t
comprehend God’s ways or reasons for allowing certain
things to happen.

In Job 42:2-6, Job repented and realised that even though

he didn’t understand what happened to him, he trusted
God to turn it around for his own good, so God restored
Job’s losses even more than when he was blessed at the
beginning of the book.

Job is a story about trusting God even in our suffering.

God knows the pain we go through, and He never leaves
us there forever. He is ready to rescue us when we trust
Him—yes, even when it's hard to trust Him.

Job 33:28:30 says that God works all these things, Twice,
in fact, three times with a man, to bring back his soul
from the Pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of
life.”

We can learn from that particular verse that God allows

sufferings to bring us back to God so his light can shine
in us, and we will be enlightened with our relationship
with God.
I have experienced many battles in my life and did not
understand why God would allow these things to happen,
but at the end of this dark tunnel I have been in, I saw a
great light and today, I can proudly say that God cannot
be unjust even in our sufferings. I might have suffered for
a little while, but in the end, I have been made stronger
than before and learned to stay firm and steadfast in my
faith in God.

I might have suffered for a little

while, but in the end, I have been
made stronger than before and
learned to stay firm and steadfast
in my faith in God.

What the devil meant for evil, God can turn it around for
our good, so He can receive the glory and change your
test into a testimony as He did for Joseph. (Genesis 50:20)

Let us therefore always trust HIS ways with all our heart
and soul and not lean on our own understanding but
learn to acknowledge God’s ways for our life as his
thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways are not our
ways and therefore beyond of what we can or will ever
comprehend.

(Isaiah 55:8-9)
God has a plan and purpose for our life. He did not just
create us for enjoying life here on earth and follow our
own wishes and desires of this world. No, He designed for
us to fulfil His will on earth and do what He has created
us to be: Someone with a purpose.

Each one of us is unique and created in Christ Jesus for

good works which God has prepared beforehand so that
we will walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)

Purpose gives our life meaning and

makes us feel fulfilled and therefore
completes us.

When we don’t have a purpose, we lose our sense of

direction and life can become meaningless. If you don’t
know your purpose in life, it is best to start asking God
for his will for your life and help you reveal it to you.

“For I know the plans I have for

you,” declares the Lord, “plans to
prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a
future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Purpose and meaning reside with God; whatever sense
of satisfaction you get from this world is nothing
compared to what God has in store for you. All things
in life are transient, but it is God’s will that is eternal.
There is nothing better, more wholesome, or complete
than putting your life in God’s hands.

Everything happens for a reason even the struggles in

life; nothing catches God by surprise so let us not grow
weary but stay strong in the midst of a battle so we
can become even stronger and use our pain for God’s
glory!

Everything happens for a reason

even the struggles in life; nothing
catches God by surprise.

Now it’s time for you to accept God’s will for your life
and let Him help you to be ready to lay down your life
for him, to fully surrender and receive His purpose for
your existence on this Earth!

I pray that this book will help you to overcome any

battle in your life. May your perspective on spiritual
battles change and your faith in God be made stronger
through them so that your test will turn into a
testimony!
